I can't imagine Super Bowl-din jumping ship fresh off of a Super Bowl win! Moral of the story: the Ravens need to win Sunday! :ravensquote:

His playing like a true SB WR right now.

He is driven, and nothing is going to take anything away from him.

Going to be phenomenal watching him this SB

Ya its sad either him, reed, or kruger won't be here next season. Boldin is a huge part of this team and a true football player.. He could probably play safety and still ball out, dudes a animal!

I could see us cutting jacoby Jones instead of Boldin. If we resigned Boldin to a 4 year $11.5M eating up 5 million of his 7 that he would originally make this year I think that would be good, a contract along those lines. I just think it would be a kick in Joe's groin if we got rid of Boldin...I mean its ironic because it pretty much Joe's fault Boldin would get cut if need be. But Joe is always talking about how comfortable he is throwing to Boldin and how much chemistry they have, thats worth restructuring Boldins contract for.

As for Jacoby, he is a deep threat thats about it, he only had 1TD this season. Of coarse he has always been a great return man but they are almost like runningbacks a dime a dozen. If Jacoby was a better receiver I would say keep him because he is got that returnabilty and is younger. I could see us going out and getting Johnny Knox for a cheap deal. Very fast good returner special teamer and deep threat, coming off a sketchy injury but the upside is there with the cheap deal.

Just cant picture Boldin playing for another team

I just read on Rotoworld that Adam Shefter reported on NFL Live that the Ravens may have to cut Boldin next year, because we are already over the 2013 salary cap.

Can someone explain that to me? All indications were that we were under. I'm confused.

Maybe he is just assuming because of Flacco getting franchised or long-termed, thats what a lot of people are saying about our cap situation. As of right now Im pretty sure our cap is sitting at $110M. After we ink Joe we will likely be somewhere like $130M or close to it. Meaning we are $9.1M over the limit. Adam Schefter must have underground secrets that no one knows, I would pay a mint to have his smart phone for the day haha.

I was cofused about what Schefter said as well. I heard we were gonna be about 10+ million under the cap (with Ray retiring). So this came out of the blue to me. Sadly, i think the team will look very different next year. Hopefully Boldin/Jones can stick around. I really hope they can.

I don't understand who is taking up so much cap room on this team :(

Suggs, Ngata, Web, Rice, and soon Flacco.

We have a lot of big people who need contracts. I love Q he is the most consistent receiver we have, he is Joe's go-to guy. All I can say is the FO needs to work some magic.

Yeah, I really don't get this either. It could be with Flacco, but the way he made it sound as if it's beforee Flacco. That makes no sense.

As for the whole Boldin vs. JJ debate, there's some credence to keeping Boldin over JJ & vice versa. First of all, we have a "replacement" for Boldin in Doss. I say that because Boldin himself said when he is gone nobody will miss him because of Doss. Then, Ozzie Newsome traded for Boldin & I think I remember him saying he was correcting a mistake he made & was going to make him a Raven for life. Perhaps Boldin told Ozzie he wants to retire after his contract is over, or perhaps he retires if we win it all. I could see either happen, honestly.

I still think Boldin has some left in the tank. I may be reading too much into this, but it's strange to me that Boldin is promoting Doss as his replacement, the deal with Ozzie when he signed here, etc.

With that said, it is not easy to find a good return man. We've been looking for one for a while. Reed is good but has issues with fumbles. Maybe he's over that. Could be. It's very possible we cut JJ after a year & that's why we let Reed go on IR instead of cutting him.

David Reed is a bum and shouldn't be up for consideration for anything.

I don't think Q will retire though, he still has the abilities which make him a force in the league. Some people here are high on Doss, but I've never seen him do anything noteworthy. He certainly doesn't look the part of a physical receiver, either.

the question is strictly financial. No one is questioning Q's contribution on the field.

This can't be accurate. Only Schefter has said we're over the cap.

We're supposedly 12 mil under.

Regardless of the cap, I've been thinking and I am concerned about these restructures we're proposing. What happens in 2014 offseason? Dennis Pitta is a free agent, and so is Michael Oher, Jacoby Jones, Vonta Leach, Anquan Boldin (if not restructured), Arthur Jones, Terrence Cody, David Reed, Ramon Harewood, & Ed Dickson. We say this free agency will be tough. 2014 looks even tougher if we restructure and push back even more cap.

I'd hate to restructure Boldin in '13 to release him in '14.

I think if we win Boldin might retire if we lose he wil certainly be back, that would be a big releif seeing Boldin retire god forbid we cut him this offseason and someone like Pitt or NE gets their dirty mitts on him. As far as Jacoby Jones goes I think 3.5M or 4M whatever he gets this year is too much for the low production he put up in the passing game. Unless your Devin Hester or Joshua Cribbs you shouldnt be getting paid that much for being an all pro RS. I like Jacoby and maybe the lack of productivity will increase next season but 3.5M is a lot, and we have Ellerbe, Reed, and Kruger to ink up this off season to say the least. So I wouldnt be surprised if he was gone and there have been reports similar to Boldins about JJ being a cap casualty.

So you think Boldin would retire? It's possible. I think there's a very distinct chance. It's just...he's still playing at such a high level. He's still really good. He's entering his decline but he's still good.

I'm really torn on this. Seriously. We're going to have to make serious decisions and cut & part with some excellent players. Birk, C. Williams, Boldin, JJ, Leach, Reed, Kruger, A. Jones, Leach, Oher, Dickson & Pitta. Then we have Torrey Smith's contract coming due soon as well. This is turning into a mess because of how well we have drafted--a nice problem to have. Still, I want to keep players like Suggs, Smith, Pitta.

The best thing for the team's cap would be for Reed, Birk, & Boldin to retire. The problem is those players are really good. I think Birk is most likely to retire, then Boldin. Even McKinnie is playing at a high level, but he could be one to retire as well.
