Buying a jersey

115 posts in this topic

I have one rule to keep in mind...never buy a jersey of someone in his last contract year. You want to be sure to get at least two years out of it. I have a closet full of jerseys for players on other teams. Now I wait until they're under a long contract. Ray Rice, Ngata, Yanda, Suggs are all locked up for a while.

Retired player jerseys are always "in style", so if you don't want Ray's, consider another retired player like Ogden or Mason.

Webb will be my eventual game-day jersey when it's time to retire my Reed. Torrey Smith has potential to take that spot though.

I have a Ray Lewis jersey but I do plan on buying a Ray Lewis Super Bowl 47 jersey along with a Flacco one that will be my game day jersey for next season and beyond as I'm retiring my current Lewis jersey after the Super Bowl.

I can't believe you're the first one to pick 82! He's pretty high on my list...

Question though... I just ordered a new Flacco jersey for my daughter (to replace her el-cheapo one) from footballfanatics.com. and noticed that they now have jerseys with "Super Bowl Bound" patches/logos on them. I thought about ordering one for myself but then thought that maybe afterwards, they'll have "Super Bowl Champs" ones available. Does anyone know if that's the case? Never had reason to think about a Super Bowl jersey, but if there is going to be one - I'd like to have it!

If you don't have Ray Lewis, I say you can't go wrong there. Yes, he's retiring, but the man BUILT this franchise on his back and with his hard work and sweat. Wearing that will never get anything but admiration from fellow Ravens fans. However, your connection to Yanda is really cool. That would certainly stand out when at games. I love when people get a jersey of a guy that isn't sold off the rack at Modell's.

I remember my first jersey was a Todd Heap, saved my allowance all summer to get it when I was 12 or 13, I have a Ngata and a Lewis (although someone gave it to me and its 4XL, cant really wear it unless i have a coat and hoodie underneath) and I'm thinking of getting a Superbowl one too, I'm leaning towards a Pollard, Torrey, or the wildcard, KO (lineman gotta stick together!)

Saying you want a player still playing on the team:
Avoid any player pending to be a FA- 20, 99, 59, 29 (I'd put 5 but I doubt he leaves)

If you want an offensive player-
5, 27, 44, 82, 88

If you want a Defensive Player:
21, 31, 55, 92

Special Teams (Cause You gotta Stand out)-
9, (If you wanna be a B0$$ get a #4 jersey)

Saying you want a throwback or custom jersey:

All-Time Ravens-
52, 75, 86, 31(J Lewis), 3

Custom Jersey-
Your Name

Funny Custom (# and Name)-
55 (BSH University)
52 (Greatness)
31 (Pats #1 Enemy)
82 (Speed Kills)

Just my suggestions

I would rule out free agents and go along with your favorite player under contract or future H.O.F. player! For example, as much as I like Ellerby and Kruger, I would not buy their jersey's right now, they may not be a Ravens next season. You can never go wrong with #5, #20, #27, #31, #52, #55, #82 or #92. You can even go #88 or #21, I think 1 of these 2 will be my next jersey.

I'd wait to see if Ellerbe and Kruger get re-signed before getting their jersey. I think Pitta is pretty safe even though he is on his last year. I'd love to get a Jacoby Jones jersey, but I'm a bit paranoid of how long he will be here. So I think the safe thing to say would be Webb and T.Smith. Maybe even some Corey Graham love. Also maybe McPhee.

All I've ever had was 52 but imo 21 is the best defender on the team... a season and a half and not a single td allowed? I'm surprised he has gotten forgotten so fast. I like his play style and 21 looks much slicker than 5.

imo game is a POS but then again I can't stand if everything isn't stiched

Depends where you get them from. I grab game day jersesys with stitched everything like the elites, but without the massive vnecks and shiny stripes around the neck.

I have a black #5 and a purple #81 (which is way to big) thinking about finally getting around to a #52. I'd go with #52, #73 (you're ties with him are cool), or #21.

I am almost positive Yanda will be the first Jersey I get. And it will have the super bowl logo patch on it as well. I am pretty excited about it. So honest opinions between game, limited, and elite nike jerseys? Any huge differences worth the $50 difference in price?

Tucker! He's the best kicker in the AFC! Kruger would be another good name to rock.

I didn't buy a Rice jersey specifically for that reason. Running backs in general aren't around very long...

Yes. The limited are waaaaaaaaaay better than the game. Easily worth the 50 bucks. The elite are not greatly better then the limited and not worth the extra 100? or so.

I know last year the Pats had the MHK or whatever on the left on the super bowl jerseys and moved the super bowl logo to the right side

In the next couple days, I will be purchasing a Black Ravens jersey. However, I cannot decide which one I should get.

The obvious ones are there.

#52 It seems that most people that have a Ravens jersey have picked this one for obvious reasons. However, I don't know if I necessarily wanna stick with the crowd on that.

What do you guys think?
are you serious? you don't wanna stick with the crowd? smh! we're not the crowd brah! we are "THE FLOCK!" :th_snapoutofit:

in the jerseys i have the following: #52, #5, #27, #81, #20 and #92. over the next few days, i'll be picking up the #88, #55 and #21 jerseys.
