He was saying that while it is nice to have all the accolades of having the NUMBER 1 defense, in the real scheme of things it doesn't mean jack ****
it does when your ranked correctly....all that happened sunday was the rankings were put right, your defense was overly ranked because you had yet to play the nfc east

our defense has played alot of tought offenses and has yet to break like yours did against the giants

You still lost to the Giants, granted not by such a large margin, but a L is a L. What I meant in my last post is that our defensive personnell is possibly the best and well rounded in the league and we do command a lot of respect and fear from the league. As to the debate between Polumalu and Reed, Troy is used in a more run-stopping, blitzing manner, whereas Ed can still perform this fucntion, but is excellent in coverage, which I haven't seen Troy do all that well. The old saying goes "2/3 of the world is covered in water, the other 1/3 is covered by Ed Reed."

overly ranked? how can you say we're overly ranked when they have been doing the same thing on deffense for the past 10 years. we've always had a strong d. we had a bad day, that's it! sure, we have holes, but are you trying to say the squeelers don't? please! every team has it's holes. it's just a matter of when a team can expose those holes. and the giants did that. that's the game of the nfl. exposing a teams weaknesses. and it didn't help our case with all the injuries we have. i'm not trying to make excuses for them, they're an nfl team. back ups are suppose to be able to step it up when their number is called. but, they didn't do that against the giants. and that's why they beat us. that game could've of easily gone to the ravens favor. but the giants stepped up more then us. and you have to give it to them. ecspecially their RB's. They had a good game against one of the elite deffenses in the league. hats of to them. they got us. but it's a long season. we still have a shot to get in the playoffs. how far we can go in them, i don't know. but if we do get in, it's anyones game. look at what the giants did last year. enough said
I wouldn't worry too much about being ranked 3rd on D. The key is balance and you guys seem to be working that out.
I'm not worried about being ranked 3rd. and you're right, we do seem to be working out the offense. we've shown signs of life. and i'm loving it. i give flacco another year maybe 2, and he'll be one of the best QB's in the nfl. next year will be tough for him. every QB usually has a tough sophmore year. Big Ben did, and I expect flacco to. but his key will be on how he overcomes that. and from what I've seen, he learns quick from his mistakes, and he stays positive. that's a good sign.
I think what your boys really need to do is flick that chip off their shoulder and just play football. I've heard more junk that last few weeks about how they're not getting the respect they should be getting, no one considers them as elite, blah, blah, blah. So what! Stop talking and just play football; it's a wasted emotion to worry about what everyone else is saying (or not saying). The result: they got their butts whooped.
The junk you're talking about is said by the fans, not the players. The players don;t give a damn about the media. I don;t care about the media what the media says or doesn't say. Our defense always has a chip on their shoulder, that ain;t gonna change and I hope it never does!

I could really care less about media attention, it's pointless. Look at all the attention Dallas gets and they aren't even that great a team.. It's all about the NFL making money.
We as ravens fan's respect our team, and I think that's really the only thing that matters.

Those rankings are based on yards allowed and now the Steelers have the least amount of yards allowed, congratulations bake yourself a cupcake.

I guess the stat guy was trimming off yards to allow the Ravens to be ranked #1 rushing D all year.

Isn't there a board with less purple and more yellow you could be doling out your wisdom too?
