Torrey had once catch in the first half. One. Which, as it happens, was not against press coverage. Most of his catches were not against press coverage.
I was talking moreso against the Broncos where champ bailey was left to cover torrey by himself and he got torched, he is one of the best cover corners ever. And yeah Torrey had 1 catch in the first half because our offense was sluggish in the first half. But the Patriots gameplan according to Bellichek and patriots players throughout last week leading to yesterday was to jam the receivers at the line press them in order to contain them, and a lot of double over the top coverage too. And that goes the same for the Broncos, everyone knows Joe thrives on that deep ball. And I feel like we find away to beat press coverage, or whatever coverage they are in.

IF we can contain the pass rush
Yea they have a scary defense, like ours used to be tenacious linebackers and d-linemen, and pass rushers that break shoulders and will make Flacco taste the turf haha. I see Flacco getting rattled around alot and will probably take 2-4 sacks quite honestly. I think our o-line will still find a way to give him time to make plays downfield and maybe we can get the no huddle going to tire them out. And Rice and Pierce will find those lucky holes every once in a while for a nice 5-10 yard gainer. I think our offense can find a way to win it. But it will be epic to say the least

How many sacks did we give up last year vs them?

As other Raven fans have pointed out - I think if they can press our WRs (like NE did last night) they'll keep it close since the Pats don't have someone like Aldon Smith rushing nor do they have someone of Willis's speed or Bowman's coverage skills.

Gonna be tight I reckon. As long as we hold Gore/LaMichael and Kap - we should be able to break out like alts night.

I think gap integrity and assignment discipline will be key.

Easier said than done though.

The 49er D did not scare me as much as the Denver D in terms of pass rush. But that run D scares the hell out of me. Denver had a better pass D as well,
oh and man coverage on Boldin is LOL
Hopefully they're stupid enough to fall for the obvious and double cover BOTH Torrey and Boldin - leaving the underneath for Rice/Pierce, Pitta and Dickson.

In any case - I just hope the line holds enough for Joe to pick the gaps and fling it.

Lol you ravens fans are so big on your offense. As if one of the top defenses in the league couldnt stop you. Your offense is mediocre at best, with the occasional good game. The 49ers D is stout, more stout than baltimore's which has been at the lower end of the league for the better part of this year. The 49ers meanwhile shut down atlanta's attack, which seemed unstoppable for a while. They also shutdown the same NE offense you shut down, so the defenses are close and the edge going to the younger, healthier 49ers. They played WELL against much better offenses than yours. And your receivers wont be nearly a problem when you compare them to atlanta's trio.
Aye?

No one here is "BIG" on our offense and/or dissing the Niners. But time and again it's proven to be capable when it counts.

NO ONE Here is writing off the 49ers.

But if you're expecting us to lay down and concede it to them like the Browns fans do, then you have a pretty unrealistic expectation of what other fanbases should act like.

easy there, yes the 49ers D is good but lets not forget Atlanta put up 24 in the first half...Atlanta just didn't make any changes till it was to late.

Mediocre offenses do not outplay Tom Brady.
Shut down Atlantas attack, big whoop. we held Tom Brady to 13 points. Torrey is a damn talented WR, as is Boldin, who has, unlike any member on your team, SB experience.

Regualr season means nothing.

Also, we faced an equal D to SF in Denver, who would kick your A up and down the street.

Oh, and our "mediocre Offense" outplayed Peyton too.

What the hell am I doing? :feedtroll:
You can't really use that sort of Sports "math" either. Because if you were, then we would never had the chance to beat the Broncs again; or conversely, we should do better against you since the Rams were able to (nearly) beat you (sans the mismanagement of time by the refs)....

Not that I believe in that, I was simply using YOUR (flawed) logic. :)

Umm, tom brady had a total of 0 points against the 49ers in their good half of football too. They came back, but the D showed that they too have the stones to hold the pats in check. THey just fought back in the 2nd half when the best lineman went out, and apparently that was a big deal for them.

Your receivers are ....eh...good.. i guess. They arent atlantas receivers. 49ers have a history of holding good receivers in check, guys much better than your two. calvin johnson for instance. brandon marshall, larry fitz, roddy white. basically the only two wr who has had a good game against sf are julio jones and brandon lloyd, and both teams still lost. My point is your offense will have a hard time putting up points on the board, that's all.

49ers are a noted 2nd half team, most of the time. That offense was shut down, that offense that would run baltimores offense out of town. This game has one elite defense, one very good defense, one good offense, and one very good offense.

Didn't you guys let the Pats score 34 points on you. We allowed them 13 (with one TD). Big difference if you want to go there.

As for the Falcons. I didn't see you guys shut them down exactly. Turner left the game with an ankle injury. Ryan failed choked in the playoffs (what else is new) and even had a sprained AC joint.

Either way. None of it matters. Our D is playing at their best right now.

Yes very impressive and quite the defensive effort against them. 49ers allowed 10 points total to them until the 4th quarter when they decided the game was over i guess and our best lineman got hurt, and let them come back to make it a game. They showed they can hold them, if not for 3 quarters, but at this point it isnt super bowl champion and future hall of famer tommy brady but good ole joey flacc that will be on the field against that same D.

Atlanta had a great first half, a good first start to the game, 49ers figured them out and didnt allow a point in the 2nd half. Also a very impressive defensive effort, like what baltimore did. Both of those offenses are elite. He got hurt long after the game was over, and he still played, it didnt seem to affect his game really.

An odd thing I noticed is that Willis was taken out in some pass coverage packages when they played the Packers both times.

Correct me I am wrong, but I NEVER remember Ray (Willis' idol, mentor, & favorite player) come out when he was in his prime in ANY package.
ray STILL doesnt come off the field.

Hmmm, let's think, which team on the 49ers schedule has the most similar offense to the Ravens.... Balanced attack, running the ball, throwing the ball, smart underrated QB, strong offensive line, team plays best when the pressure is on... oh yeah, the NY Giants, does a 26-3 score with 149 rushing yards allowed ring a bell, and that was with Bradshaw and Wilson not nearly as dynamic as Rice and pierce, no the Giants just came up and punched them in the mouth, same as this Raven's team will do to a greater extent.

There's the first one. Giants fan came and went. Indy fans came and went. Broncos fans came and went. Pats fans came and went. Now the 9ers fans are here. And will go the same way all the others did. Either crying or congradulating us on a tough win in a good game and conceding that we deserve it.

If the Oline can keep Joe clean, it will be huge. The Ravens SHOULD be able to get after the 9ers secondary. Kaepernick is dynamic, but I think we can and will confuse him.

Firstly, your offense has been absolutely anemic at times. Too often for a supposedly balanced strong attack. None of those Ds were SF. But yes they lost to ny, they had a few bad games. So did Baltimore. Theyve had more in fact. Seattle has a pretty balanced offense and gave up 6 the first time. Either way they won against dynamic offenses and gave up 28 less yards a game on the ground than your defense.

Pats did all that to a tired d in thr 4th. Packers are very good, so are saints and falcons. Guess what, they beat them all. Baltimore lost 3 out of your last 4 and once to Philly!!!! , who does that crap?
