How Bout Jim Leonard?

18 posts in this topic

He was all over the field today, virtually in every play tbh.

I guess our secondary showed up today, reed, rolle, washing and leonard all did good today, our front seven, not so much. ;\

-we need to learn to wrap up-

Well, he didn't really show up in the passing game. He made some tackles but i would like to see him break up a pass once in a while. At this point i would rather have Zbikowski in there.

Washington was terrible today in coverage. Tackling is a different story. Rolle looked great.

It's still a weakness since Leonard is undersized. I mean I would have liked Zbikowski if he could learn to wrap up runners, but I guarantee that if we had Landry (:)) the Giants would not have gotten 200 yards on us. He's one of the best tacklers on our team and a huge force in our run game. Leonard is fine but way too undersized. Jacobs nearly threw him on his first run in the game. It's nice to have depth with him though, he played a fine game

He was pretty awful, but hey so was the rest of our defense.

I agree, not saying he should be the 100% starter, but he can make every tackle, he has great strength and would fit VERY well with our D. He is aggressive against the run and pass, with enough size to compete with backs. I think he should at least get some looks for certain packages more then he does now

Yeah, but he was not his usual self and far from it. It seemed like he was intimated by Jacobs and when the Giants were running he was no where in site. Bradshaw made him look like a fool when he cut back and broke his ankles. Not once did he go head to head with Jacobs.

The only Raven I saw take on Jacobs was Bart Scott. He actually took Jacobs down hard but it was a penalty on us for encroachment or something then we ended up giving them free yards. Sure Ray had an INT but he was far from his usual self, but it wasn't just him, it was the entire defense.

I think it was the entire Defense also, which is just plain odd..We were the SAME way in the COLTS game.

I think so too, which is odd. We can never beat the elite teams though. Although last year we basically beat the Pats when everybody had us down as like 20point something losers. Its like after jacobs got his first 52yd run the defense just threw in the towel

in general and for most games i like leonhard in there. Against this team, a healthy Landry would have helped out A TON. But we can' change that... leonhard still looked great in there and i hope he continues to play this well the rest of the season.

GO Ravens

Leonheard should be returning punts, and him and Rice should handle kickoffs. Figurs just isn't running hard or with good vision. I hate seeing Figurs run into a pile of guys and not go anywhere. I think Leonheard could def. be in some passing situations, but don't think for one second he is an upgrade defensively over Dawan Landry. We miss him terribly. Many people don't understand how good Landry is in the run game and he isn't bad in the pass game. Plus, who would you rather have on a TE- Landry or Leonheard? Not a knock on Leonheard- he is truly a football player and plays his heart out. Great returner, great special teams guy, average defender.
