1st Round

DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson

There is no ELITE receiver in this class, but i think Nuk has the talent, size and speed to be the best of them. He is used to being double teamed and still manages to find holes and get open. He catches with his hands, has great body control, and generally knows how to play. We need the receiver, in case we have to let Boldin go, that isn't afraid to go across the middle. This is one of those guys but he can still beat you deep. Since there is not the top OT prospect in reach for us this year we might as well improve the weapons for Flacco.

2nd Round

Eric Reid, S, LSU

If he happens to be around when we pick again we have no choice here. I even see a possibility of us trading up in the second to grab him. He isn't going to be the ballhawk or cover guy that some of the other S in the draft are (Vaccaro and Thomas) but he can hit. Our defense needs that extra guy that isn't afraid to come down and play the run, and putting him alongside Reed and/or Pollard could be a perfect fit. Enough speed to cover TE's but big enough to make an impact in the box....great fit.

3rd Round

Brandon Jenkins, OLB, Florida State

The only reason this guy is on the board after the 1st round is because of injury. I think this is a spot that we can afford to take a risk on a pass rusher. We've taken a chance before and they didn't work out, but this is a big need for us in the offseason if we lose Kruger. Jenkins racked up sacks and constantly put QBs on their heels, If we want to have some terror off the edge, this is a guy that has the speed and quick burst off the snap to do it.

These are solid players but I don't think this draft addresses our needs very well. The only way we take a WR in round one is if Keenan Allen somehow falls to us. Hopkins just isn't a great value when guys like Vacarro, Barrett Jones, or a good DL is available. I like the Reid pick a lot, but I'm not sure he's there. Jenkins is a good player but is pretty injury prone and we have good starters with Suggs and Upshaw, even without Kruger. I'd rather address the OL, ILB, DL, or even CB. A decent situational pass rusher should be there in FA or we could take a guy like Travis Long in the 4th. How do you see us addressing LT, which I think the playoffs have showed is our biggest hole by far.

Ravens are picking way late in the draft (hoping for 32nd pick). At the bottom of 1st round there should be good value. My favorite options are Barrett Jones, Ala, for the o-line or a target for Joe, someone like T.Williams, Baylor, T.Eifert, ND, D.Hopkins, Clemson. If Oz goes D 1st round, someone like Cordarrelle Patterson, Tenn, would help. NFL is a scoring league, Joe needs all the targets he can get; solidify the o-line, the run game is covered by Ray and BP.

The thing is, I don't think jenkins is just a situational pass rusher. I think he has the talent to be a 3 down guy. Also throughout the playoffs I think that our CBs have played particularly well. I do believe we will let Cary williams walk, considering he will be after too much money and other guys are stepping up. Don't forget (i know you haven't) that Jimmy still has never gotten himself into the rotation without being pulled right back out bc of some nagging injury and Webb will be coming back yet again. I would say that our #1 priority is LT, but I'd rather us not reach. If you can't give Joe time, at least give him some more options.

Do we really need a 3 down guy? Didn't we just draft Upshaw to fill the Jarret Johnson role? Not that I don't like Jenkins, I do. I just don't think it makes much sense to take an injury prone player in the 3rd to fill a spot that we don't really need filled. What about OT Kyle Long from Oregon or OT Ricky Wagner from Wisconsin at that spot?

Actually I think we would be looking at those guys in the 4th, along with Pugh from Syracuse. Pass rush is something that our defense thrives on. If there is a T available to us in any round that isn't a reach, I say that should be our top priority, I just don't see one coming to us with so many other teams needing help. I'm thinking that T should also be what we try to fill over free agency, but it just doesn't look like there are many options to choose from.

I like all three of these guys but I think Jenkins falls to the back of the 4th honestly, due to his knee injury. I also am not a fan of taking a WR in the 1st but it depends on the other picks. I think we could trade back and get more picks and still get Hopkins. Regardless, not a bad draft at all.

I like Hopkins a lot but Id want to trade back in the 2nd a bit and take my chance with him. Reid is a good value at our pick in the 2nd. I like Jenkins too but I bet we can get him sometime in the 4th.

SInce, we will have either the 31st or 32nd draft pick, i can see us trading the pick to get a early 2nd round pick, and maybe a 4th or 5th round pick. Maybe, a team like the Cardinals, who need a QB, could in up trading with us, or even the Bills. Or if there is a player the Bengals, they could trade up, because they got the Raiders 2nd Round Pick too from the Carson Palmer trade.

He also would probably be the first linebacker off the board now the Te'o stock has fallen. He would probably have went in the 15-20 range, not even close to the 3rd round.

I think the first ILB off the board is going to be either Brown or Ogeltree. Somebody will fall in love with the numbers that they can put up in the combine, and the ability to look better than Te'o in pass coverage since ILB now are a crutial part in covering tight ends.
