As someone who likes Alonso even less than I like the Steelers, I have to admit that I enjoyed the first few laps. With any other team I would expect a grid penalty in the next race for not having pitted for a fix. Since it's Ferrari, that won't happen.

Hmmm, interesting point about Alonso, tho I'm not sure if there's anything in the regs to cover such an event??? Plenty of flack in the press directed towards Vettel right now. He has "apologised" to the team and to Webber, but call me cynical but I don't buy it.

He said he didnt understand the instructions, but it's been a red Bull policy to hold station after the last pit stops are done. I am going for the view that he knew darn well what he was doing and only after the race realised what a s***storm he had to deal with. Definately not impressed with Vettel today. Yeah, these are racing drivers who should race BUT team instructions are a fact of life in F1 these days and the drivers know that.

Vettel is THE MAN! Racing is an individual sport

not quite... you can't do anything without a team behind you... he'll soon find out

This "team nonsense" is watering down ALL of racing. Sure... some strategy can come into play but it still should be driver vs driver. Auto racing should be pure... "Team Racing" is just a money grab. I prefer REAL racing. Sure, allies can be formed.... but in the final laps, you have to be bold!

I think F1 racing - probably any racing, really, is a team sport for everyone involved - EXCEPT for the drivers. It's very interesting to me to have so many people working together to get great cars together for two individuals who are working for, really, just themselves. Yes, Vettel appears to be quite the jerk and has already proved he is willing to sacrifice crashing just to gain a position on his teammate. To be fair, Webber is probably quite a jerk as well. Webber just isn't the driver that Vettel is.

So kudos to Rosberg. That must have taken every ounce of self control he had to not pass Hamilton. That must suck to be a clear number 2 only 2 races into the season with a guy who just joined your team.

Christian Horner has announced that there will no longer be any team orders at Red Bull. At the same time Vettel has said that Webber didnt deserve the win anyway.

Now, I am not a fan of team orders as these guys are paid to race and win. However, I can understand any team manger whose car are running 1-2 wanting to see them both finish.

Sad thing is that it must be a pretty unpleasant atmosphere in the Red Bull pit now. I can easily understand Webber just looking after himself now. Last year for Webber at Red Bull I think.

Just a reminder, 20 years ago today. The greatest ever opening lap of a Grand Prix, of all time. Our esteemed friend Raven07 can probably dig out the footage, 'cos I can't :Cool_408:

Could be an interesting race tomorrow methinks. Kimi has excellent race pace and the Lotus is kind to it's tyres. I see him going longer than Alonso and Hamilton in the first stint. After that, hopefully Button will have messed up Vettel a bit and kept him back. :eyes:

so it's a 4 drivers affair this year Vettel - Kimi - Alonso - Hamilton, really can't see any others

I'm happy to see Kimi back as a legitimate contender. I don't think Hamilton has the car, though. (I'm actually unconvinced Kimi has the car either.) Hamilton seems to be doing with the Mercedes what Alonzo was able to do with an inferior Ferrari the past few years.

Great race this one. Can't disagree with the view that it's down to four drivers this year!!

I feel sorry for Webber, how bad can it get, and he has a 3 place grid penalty for the next race. There are rumours arising here in the UK that he has signed a 5 year deal with Porsche to race sportscars next year

./blockquote>

let's cut that thought by half - Vettel and Kimi

ps and this race is not finished yet, but the season ahead doesn't really look good for the ferrari or hamilton

Love the Hamilton "I can't drive any slower" statement.  Tough to be with a second rate team, but he still seems better off than he would have been with McLaren.

I don't like Alonzo, but am happy for him and the Spaniards.  Tough times for them and always nice to see a country's top driver come thru in a home race.
