Another thing that seems automatic. He'll very probably be franchised at the start of the FA period.

You probably realize though, that it doesn't mean he ends up tagged for the whole season. They'll still have time to work out a long time contract. The tag only means he won't automatically become a FA when the market opens.

Rice and Ngata were aso tagged, still had their contracts made before the season started.
