Theres 3 possibilities:

1 He made up everything up to help his Heisman Trophy campaign, a few close friends/family collaborated.

2 He says he was "Catfished" by a person with a fake online profile. He developed an emotional relationship with the person and was embarrassed when he found out the truth. His possible embarrassment could explain why he lied and why there are inconsistencies with the story.

3 He's in the closet and his extended family helped create her profile and kill her off so that he would not have to deal with romantic advances from women while he was at College.

I really hope that he had nothing to do with it, if he did that speaks volumes on his character or lack there of. IMO, i think he was in on it...the way i came to this conclusion is that the stories just dont match up. He implied that he has met here, saying something along the lines that he looked into her eyes and just knew, but lately said he never met her. Also, your telling me after a car accident, getting diagnosed with cancer, and a funeral that you couldnt make it to one of those events, seriously? Thats suppose to be the love of your life and you never found any of that drastic enough to make your way to comfort her?

His intangibles is what made his stock so high, his skillset is not worth a top 10 pick like people were thinking before all this happened, his leadership made him more valuable... With the uncertainty surrounding this situation, we have to wait and see whether Te'o lied about something so wrong, or if he was the victim of something very wrong.

I'm not a GM so I don't know how much this affects his draft stock. But just for all the negative attention this has got, and Te'o admitting he lied, I have to imagine negatively.

In all honesty, I can believe he didn't have anything to do with this. Its hard for some people to talk to ladys, and if you've truley fallen for a girl, you will believe 95% of what she says. Some guys can be hoplessly in love; people are just bashing him because thats what they do, they find things to bash good people. I'd still like to see him in a purple jersey.
