i usually have a number of guys i want in the draft. but this year im super excited about one & that is Alec Olgetree the linebacker from georgia. that guy is crazy athletic . hes about 6'3 and 235. if he gains about 10 more pounds i believe he will be a monstor. he has to run at least a 4.5. and he can jummp out of this world. im really hopin nthe ravens draft this guy. every year there there is a player at the combine who just shows out and i promise you he is gonna be the guy this year. draft him ozzie ..COme On !!!!!

There's a good chance he'll perform so well at the Combine and pre-draft workouts, he'll rise up the boards and go well before the team is on the clock.

Yes he freaky athletic and can run about a 4.4 probably but what i see on film with this guy is that he tackles to high(around the Neck) half the time and he can't get off blocks like you want with someone of his postions. don't get me wrong he's a good player and probably will fit well with us because he's from geogia and they do a (3-4) but unless he can show me that he can get off blocks and and go alittle lower when tackling than id want him but if he can fix that than yes i would like him for the ravens!

but at linebacker i would pick Kevin minter because he's a great tackler and he can run sideline to sideline and he a good blitzer. also he can cover!

ILB not use to be a flashy position compared to other positions like LTs and DEs.

Teams can draft however the way they want. Remember couple years back that everyone thought Aaron Curry was the safest pick, well that wasn't the case and Seattle suffer for it. I was surprised how high Luke Keuchly went last year given that ILB usually isn't a top 10 position. However with teams like the New England Patriots that use double TE sets, it has become apparent that you need athletic ILB to keep up with the matchup nightmares of TEs. Tight Ends have changed the game that they can wreck havoc on ILBs. Look at Ray Lewis and Dannelle Ellerbe, they can only do so much against TEs and they allow a ton of completions. Therefore with the upcoming class of ILBs that are athletic and smart, I have no problem drafting them in the 1st because a 1st round talent is a 1st round talent that they can contribute and have a higher chance of being a starter.

All I know is that all the 1st round ILBs be gone by the 20s where teams like the Bears, Giants, Texans. and Packers could use a 1st round ILB to help bolster the defense. A good ILB like Ray Lewis can help bolster the run defense, direct traffic, and help coverage.

My top three ILBs are:

1. Te'o
2. Minter
3. Brown

Hodges would be 4th on this list. Not a fan of Ogletree as much as I was. I think he takes bad angles and I don't see the instincts that I expected from him. I love Minter's instincts and the way he points out offensive alignments.

As of right now as ILB in our system I have it ranked as

1.Manti Teo
2. Kevin Minter
3. Alec Ogletree
4. Khaseem Greene
5. Arthur Brown

It's hard to discredit what Teo has done for a whole season after one bad game. Kevin Minter is more complete than ogletree, better tackler, better getting off the blocks and has better instincts. I like khaseem greene more than arthur brown for some of the same reasons i like minter more than ogletree. Greene is a better pass rusher than arthur brown too and that is an important aspect as well. Other ILBs I like in this draft are jon bostic, nico johnson, gerald hodges, Jelani jenkins, Kevin reddick.

This is a pretty deep class for the position and I am hopeful that we snag one of these guys even though the last ILB drafted by ozzie was jason phillips in 09. I thought we'd get one in the last couple drafts but ozzie probably didn't see the value in drafting one since his MO has been grabbing undrafted ILBs. It's crazy to think that 3/5 of the ILBs we have are undrafted (4 if you count mcclellan)

Alec Ogletree could be a game changer.. If he added 10 lbs, then you are talking about a 6'3 245 pound guy who can keep up with the Hernandez's and Gronks out there. We could use that tomorrow.. but I'm still not giving up on Te'o.

I want a LB who can diagnose plays and cover. We already have a great downhill, blitzing backer in Ellerbe. At the same time, whoever we get also cannot be a liability against the run. Brown is my choice but I like Minter a lot too.

Let me preface this by saying I haven't watched any college ball this year outside the championship game, when I keyed in on Te'o. Having said that Te'o seemed like a MLB from the past, big and bulky with stiff hips and lacked explosion. He looked kind of like AJ Hawk to me.
The new generation of ILB are guys like Timmons, Bowman and Washington. Under sized guys that have that physical mentality to not get washed up on that are protected by big Dlines. They also have phenomenal athleticism and explosion in their first couple of steps. I don't know about any ILB prospects as I've already stated, and as some have said it was a bad game for Te'o, but in the last couple of years I've been really hesitant with the ILB position in the draft. Unless the guy has phenomenal athletic ability combined with the ability to quickly diagnose plays (Willis) I'm hesitant to take an ILB in the first round. In today's game you can get by with mid round undersized guys playing ILB in a 34 defense.

Interesting take.. I actually wouldn't mind if the Ravens got AJ Hawk in FA and then drafted a later round guy to open up a spot in the draft for a different position. AJ Hawk is reliable..

1) Ogletree
This guy is a monster he's a converted safety. At 6'3 235 with great arm reach and block shedding. He will need to learn how to tackle better. But to much potential especially with his speed and coverage skills
2) Minter
Talented but will need help a true linebacker has the size and speed but coverage skills are questionable
3) Brown
Undersized but huge upside plays so much like Daryl Washington who I believe is the best linebacker in the NFL right now
4) Teo
He has the instincts to be a good linebacker but I don't think he's in good shape to be a 3-4 every down linebacker in the NFL. Ray Lewis is probably in better shape than Teo and the difference is 15 years in age. I believe he will need much work to become a true 3-4 linebacker especially in his speed he seems like he runs a 4.8 and isn't a good block shedder. It will come down to the combine.

Other than these 4 linebackers I wouldn't risk a 1st round pick on a linebacker. I honestly think that ogletree is to far from our reach and if we want any chance of getting him we would have to move up something Ozzie Newsome doesn't do a lot.
