Brendon Ayanbadejo tweets Pats offense is a 'gimmick'

172 posts in this topic

could work to our favour actually. That pats offence is incredibly complex and if they're too focused on trying to beat on us and not on their execution they may get stifled. Football needs to be played with controlled anger, not rage.

There's a difference between the hurry up and the wildcat. There is a way to stop the wildcat, and it's actually easy to do so. But, there is no effective way to stop the hurry up. How do you slow it down? There's only one way to do it, and that's by sacking Brady and hitting him repeatedly. Not an easy task.
You've answered your own question a bit. I would say we keep our lineman and LB standing up to be ready to disrupt the LOS at the snap rather than trying to get when the Patriots are already about to snap it. We can bring pressure through overloads and run coverage behind it. If we can get a few negative plays, they'll knock it off.

The truth is it is "gimmicky" . The NFL stepped in and stopped Sam Wyche and Esiason from doing something along these lines (although different) years ago. They won't stop NE from changing because everyone knows certain franchises get degrees of leeway from the NFL offices. No franchise ,coach or player benefits more from the officiating and NFL offices than Belicheat and Brady. The NFL destroyed evidence in the spygate case, there was much more than ever let on. Belicheck will always find a way to bend the rules.

Brain O' Leary's book exposes the whole pathetic cheating , yet anyone connected to the Patriot franchise nor their fans have any shame at all. No amount of first round draft picks taken from these people would be too much. They are the dregs of the NFL and deserve no respect for legitimately winning anything.

I'm watching highlights of the Giants Super Bowl and what is the recievers first thought after a big catch? Watch it be "a flag somewhere" , NFL players and coaches know it the fans know it.

That said, BA should stop twittering and play ball.
Is this a serious post or just a flame to attract Pats fans? Similar but different? "No franchise ,coach or player benefits more from the officiating and NFL offices than Belicheat and Brady.?" Based on what exactly? Your perception is all,. You have no facts to back that up.

You want facts? In 2011 there were 29 other QBs that got more roughing calls than Brady. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/sorry-Michael-Vick-NFL-referees-do-not-play-favorites-092911

Enlighten us as to what was on the tapes that was "so much more than was ever let on" Pats were accused and punished for filming from the sidelines. NOT for the actual filming, mind you. That was legal. THE LOCATION. What else did the tapes show, oh tin foil hat wearing one? BB drugging opposing players food perhaps?

The most laughable part is your putting up Bryan O'Leary as some kind of authority and not some guy who just put every article he Googled into a book which no one would publish. The self published hack job's entire premise is the Pats have been so good statistically that they must still be cheating. Really?

I have to believe the majority of Ravens fans are smarter than this. And I also believe that those same fans see no value to Tweeting bulletin board fodder and would rather see their team's talking be done on the field. To them I say, great game in Denver, see you in Foxboro Sunday. May the better team win. It should be a GREAT game!

Billick said you don't tip toe into the lions den. I guess BA agreed. Like I said, if they team knew and didn't mind then cool. If he was the only one who felt like this which I doubt, not a good look. This got out to the public very fast.

And honestly, after thinking, I'm not that mad. Let em be angry. If we can't match their intensity cause of this crap then the team didn't deserve to win. Ravens will be prepared and this will be a physical game. Trust me, everyone who was on the team last year remembers what happened and the clock and down "issues". This will come down to capitalizing early on their mistakes or defensive stops. We MUST build lead.

You play coverage against Brady, thats how you beat him, the exact same as how you beat Manning. You flood throwing lanes, flood zones, play man-zone combos, mix bump and run, have guys fall off the LOS, invert coverages.

You dont, I repeat, you DONT beat Brady by blitzing. Wade Phillips was too stubborn and Rex is the same way. You beat Brady by playing coverage. The rush is there for coverage sacks. You play 2 high safety for most of the game and let the corners sit on their short option routes.

When you do blitz they HAVE to be safe 4 or 5 man zone blitzes with the front 7.

So many people think this is the answer. You have to trust your D-Line against the Patriots. The Pats O-Line is not as good as in years past. We really need Ngata to get that inside pressure (that's the most effective). You make Brady feel the pressure without blitzing and you'll get the coverage sacks.

Oh, trust me I know that. I wouldn't blitz Brady very often at all. We need our line to play the game of their life on Sunday.

That we do. Art Jones, Ngata, McPhee and Kemo need to have the collective games of their entire lives. Kruger and Suggs need to at least disrupt Brady's timing by a step or two. They're also going to need some damn impressive games, the Pats Ts are no joke.

We need a lot interior pressure. It is well-known that interior pressure scares the bejeezus out of Brady. That being said, I'd love to see loops and twists inside, with the occasional double A gap blitz which has plagued Brady.

One pressure we use consistently and effectively is looping Suggs into the A gap. That loop is so effective.

This is truth. Good physical teams beat the Patriots by rushing no more than 3 or 4 and keeping many dbs in coverage. Those that blitz Brady often usually get spanked as Brady is no slouch, he will find the open receiver faster than your blitzers can get to him in most cases. I am soo looking forward to this game...why is it only Tuesday!??!

BTW, I am a 15 year Patriots season ticket holder and I would absolutely love to see the career of Ray Lewis end in Foxboro.

Same here....felt like we had the whole humble/karma/underdog thing going for us... now we look like the classic big mouth Ravens pre harbaugh who could never shutup..maybe karma is going to take a turn on us now...

Can we cut a player before a AFC championship game...? That might be the only way to swing this back in our favor...

If we lose...I dont EVER wanna see B.A. again...ever ...idc if he has 3 special team tackles and 2 forced fumbles...

Yeah I'm not mad either. Have people forgotten how much "trash" the Ravens talked in 2000? The defense claimed they were going to shutout the Giants, Ray Lewis guaranteed a victory, and Billick stated that if they won the wildcard game they were going to the Superbowl.

dude, seriously jump on BA, against our own Ravens brotherhood? although it was absolutely inappropriate for him to start the trash talking before the AFC championship game. However, he is the leader of ST and going to step up this week.

Just wow dude, to break up the unity or "family" Ravens tradition....you can disagree with what BA did, but don't patronizing like the rest of ESPN and Pats fans....

2. This ain't the 2000 Giants offense we are playing

Break up unity?? The only one breaking up unity was B.A.

The Ravens had every thing going for them...all the momentum in the world...being underdog Road Warriors a group that was banding together to fight for their leaders last stand...many people in the media and even fans felt like destiny was working....sometimes even opposing teams start to buy in to that and can give our team a slight physiological advantage...one that I felt we had in both playoff games this year...NOW however I feel as if maybe some of that momentum could have shifted with those comments...

What upsets me is this is a grown man...a veteran of the team....making such childish immature remarks...it was completely selfish and not thoughtout....bc of that I'm all for us getting rid of him..either now or offseason..

Some of you wanna act like things csnt motivate professional players and teams....your wrong...bulletin board material exist and you damn sure better be able to back up whatever u say...

On 1 & 2 I'm well aware. Kind of misses my point though, but I could counter with this isn't the Giants 15 ppg defense we're playing and this isn't the same Ravens offense. Billick was so confident he drew up the schedule to the Superbowl before the season began, that's before the defense was one of the greatest of all time. And none of it came back to bite them, the Titans weren't able to use the bulletin board material to their advantage and neither were the Giants.
Do people believe that if they don't trash talk the Pats will take it easy on us? They will run up the score on anyone regardless. This is like saying a boxer shouldn't talk trash to (a prime)Mike Tyson because he's going to knock you out if you do. He's going to go his hardest to knock you out regardless.

3. I agree that BA doesn't have much of a right to run his mouth. But overall I don't have a problem with some smack between good teams.

This is why I loved that 2000 defense even more than just being the best ever. They were the best ever and they were in your face the ENTIRE game. Just dominating teams and never letting up, thats what I loved. There was no cheese points for teams getting blown out at the end of a game. The dominating never stopped.

Ray at his peak was the best defensive player in the league and it wasn't even close...and Ray would let you know about it close to 20+ times a game and let you know about it for 60min.

What kills me is that coming out of a huge upset and this is all that scrolls across the NFL Network ticker. No mention of holding the Broncos to just 1 sack. No mention of Flacco going for over 300+ on the vaunted Broncos D. No mention of Flacco having a 120 QB rating through two weeks of Playoff Football.

Just that Ayanbadejo ran his mouth.

In a way this works for me. Keep us flying under the radar. Don't point out our strengths to a second arrogant team. Let them sleep on us. Let them believe that they have enough momentum due to BA running his mouth.

You guys are ridiculous if you think that this somehow changes the momentum of anything. You really think the players on the Patriots are sitting around like

OH MAN AYANBADEJO DISSED US, NOW WE REALLY GOTTA GO OUT AND PLAY! I WAS PLANNING TO SIT ON THE SIDELINE AND EAT PIZZA

This doesn't change anything at all. No team is sitting around thinking,

"Oh man, they're the team of destiny, might as well give up."

They're thinking,

"Man, I really enjoyed that fat paycheck. Lets go out and get another one."

People need to lighten up. Its just one player making his thoughts known about something. It changes absolutely nothing. In the era of social media, people are so uptight and nitpicky, it amazes me that anyone can get anything done.

Relatively speaking, these are not fat paychecks. Depending on the round, it's a fixed amount per player, regardless of their annual pay.

Playoff performance is a good indicator of yearly salary in the future. Look at Flacco right now, his value is skyrocketing thanks to these games. Players have all the motivation they need to play well. This isn't going to make the slightest bit of difference to them. The only people who probably care about it is fans.

Thing about all this is, Ayanbadejo acted out of the spirit of our entire playoff run. I think he just personally hates the Patriots, which is fine with me, but DUDE!! TEAM FIRST. Stinkin' twitter is like a press conference, dude. His quick apology does help. It shows that we aren't encouraging this stuff.

I disagree. What would have happened if he hadn't apologized? Would it really have affected anything? Of course not. All it shows is the soft nature of the game today when guys can't even talk trash before a game. Don't you think Pats players love that Ray Lewis billboard? I know they're not saying it publicly, which makes the BA tweet different. But, still. It's in the spirit of competition. If he had said something about Pittsburgh, nobody would have cared because that matchup is the only remaining throwback where things like this are actually encouraged. I hope that doesn't change any time soon.

Stop being scared ya'll. Who cares about the Patriots. Their offense is a gimmick. Brady is a System guy. We will beat them at home. Tell them i said that. They are garbage. I might start a twitter account.

Just for the record B.A is a lot more than just a special teams player.

We ain't got no worries!!!!!!!!.
