Where was the deep ball? He covered the back end up and it won't show up on the stat sheet. He missed one tackle but otherwise played a GREAT game! He better be back!

Edit: Peyton Manning gives credit to Ed Reed and Benard Pollard for taking away the deep ball.

I thought the same thing, but as I kept watching the game, I realized... "We're not giving up LONG yardage throws." And then I went, "Ahhhh, yes... #20."

Too bad, as you said, it won't show up in the stat sheet. :(

Manning was aware of where Reed was lurking. His balls (yikes) were wobbly and woulda been picked (more than he already was) had he tried to push any deep.

That's the danger of Ed Reed. Guys like Brady and Manning account for him on every play and it affects what they think they can do with the ball.

He doesn't undercut routes and go for picks against the top qb's. He tends to sit back and cover the deep ball. He is easily one of the best ever at doing that, he just gambles a lot against less experienced quarterbacks. You never tend to see him try to fool Brady or Manning and undercut routes. A rookie will throw those but a top 5 qb will wait and let his his guy beat you deep.

I don't want him to go. For many reasons. I hope we find a way to pay him cause it will be hard to pay Flacco, Reed, Kruger, and Ellerbe. (Though Ellerbe won't demand too much.

Manning said in his post game news conference we played a lot of deep cover two the second half.

I totally agree that Ed is playing like the real Ed today; he knows he needs to step up big in playoff. Great players have their extra gear when needed too (Turbo Ed).

He will have his INT and TD next week....

I don't think they attempted a pass more than twenty yards.

Everything that they threw was short. If a ball traveled more than 15 yards out of Peyton's hand I will be shocked. They used the gameplan that the Patriots use against us.

I have seen you post multiple times on here, and honestly its embarrassing how big of an ed reed hater you are. the man is the greatest safety of all-time and has given Baltimore great leadership and play for a decade. I could have sworn if it wasn't for your picture at M&T Bank that I would have thought you were a steelers fan who was upset that polamalu cant hold a candle to reed. Let go of the hate and support the team and one of the greatest players in raven history

Been saying it for weeks but Baltimore fans will realize (and thats weird to say), but truly realize how good Reed is and was when we're watching some 3rd round rookie FS try to cover ground and make awful mistakes Reed never even made when he was at Miami.

Yep. Reed was taken out of the game with the short passes. Most of the short passes were short outs as well. Not much safety play can do there. And Reed didn't bit like some young guys would.

The bottom line is that Denver's offensive respected Reed back there, and you could tell from their game plan.

I'm not sure Manning is confident throwing a pass over 20 yards. He was never that great of a deep ball thrower and only had average arm strength before his injuries.

I thought he was top 3 in passes over 20 yards this season. I think the cold had an affect. He kept fidgeting with his glove/hand. The grip just wasn't there to even attempt the deep ball.

Damn, Tucker just made teh 3rd-longest OT playoff FG in history!

Made the right choice. Honestly, I was extremely nervous about his kick. We just didn't know how he would kick given the situation. But he looked cool and relaxed the whole time. When he saw we picked up the first down he was excited, and you could tell he wanted the kick.

But Cold weather with a Texas boy still caused nervousness.

Manning has enough knowledge of football that he doesn't have to throw the long ball
