remember when people were calling the win in week 3 'revenge'? and players said "you can't get revenge for a playoff loss in the regular season"?

now's the time to bust out the r word. the ravens squeeze one out 24-28.

OK, let me teach everyone about the Lee Evans play last year. He did not drop the ball. It was knocked out of his hands by a DB on a bang-bang play. If you want the see evidence, go to YouTube and search the words "Lee Evans dropped pass." The Flock is getting their emotions involved on this play, overlooking the fact on film. Live in the real world, gang.
If the ball is in your hands its yours to keep, its yours.
Shall I search Youtube for any one of a dozen shots of Anquan Boldin catching the ball with a defenders hands, and arms all over the ball and Q maintains possession ?

Was the ball stripped ? yes it was. Does that absolve Evans of blame ? no, not even a little bit.
Hand muscles, forearm muscles, grip the ball, turn your torso, pull the defenders arms into your chest with the ball.
Live in the real world ? Nice manners.

The last time we met in the playoffs we were a strip and a wide-left from the Super Bowl. The earlier meeting this year resulted in a late FG victory by Tucker. I see us winning on a late TD followed by a late FG. So let's give us a 10 point margin of victory. How about 34 to 24 to make us all forget last year?

You know what? I thought about the same thing when we drew them after Houston. This game is a really big game, and we aren't that different than last year. I love the character of this football team. They have the character of the ugly underdog, the one nobody wants to win.

That's why I think we will do it. I think our character is superior to the Patriots. To win a championship you need to have character. It's character that pushes you when you are down and prevents you from giving up. I honestly think the Broncos game in the regular season--that loss--is when our character matured.

I think this game is going to be nasty. There's going to be some hard hits. I don't think the game will be as close as it was in week 3. I believe we win this game. I am so excited. It's Christmas Eve and I am ready to open my present.

This time tomorrow we will know if we have what it takes to win the championship.

Charger fan here in sd. Good luck today against the pats. I had you guys beating denver last week. My fiance and I are rooting for Ray to get his good bye ring. We will be watching the game at a ravens bar in san diego. Just like the Donks, new england has been beating up on some chump teams. Baltimore has been on playoff mode since beating us here in sd (we were there).
GO RAVENS!!

Everyone is talking about the big plays and Ray rushing. I bet we will throw the ball down the middle the way we did with the Giants and surprise the Pats with long drives mostly passing the ball.

Yep. The game today is shaping up like a true chess match. I think Caldwell has the capacity to keep the patsy D off balance and take what is given. As you said, we'll have to use the middle of the field to keep them from keying in on the perceived strengths.

As is always true, especially in a big game like this, imagination and unpredictability are the keys to success.

I'm with you as far as mixing things up on offense.
As for the defense, their job is simply to limit the damage and keep Brady off the field. This will also tire their D out.
Watch out for Riddley. People forget about him trying to worry too much about Brady and his wideouts.

Yep, damage control. As much as I dislike tommie, if allowed to get comfortable he can pick apart a defense. We've got to pressure him, get some hits and keep him off balance. Sizzle, Kruger and Ellerby are key. I think Pees knows him as well as anyone and will come prepared.

Ok, all is right with the world. Kurt Warner predicts Joe will outplay tommie and the Ravens will win.

Lets dust off Dennis Pitta and let him have a Broncos type game today. Minus the loss of course. :)

Looks like we have 3 additional "analysts" joining the Ravens bandwagon this week. Golic has been the only analyst to consistently pick the Ravens throughout the playoffs. I sure do hope he's right again.

I'm terrified. If we lose we've cemented our status as the purple Eagles. :(
Nonsense. We've already won once.

Nonsense. We've already won once.
That was ages ago.

But maybe a better comparison would be the 90s Steelers.

All they have to do is use the same playbook they used against him before, Don't allow any big plays. Brady is gong to get his scores, the thing is to limit them, when possible. If we try to blitz him on every down, he will pick us apart.

Hey Ya'll.

I had these thoughts after my Sunday devotional today.

Not to call attention to myself...But I feel I would like to share what I had on my heart with the AFC Championship today, as a Christian.

So for God, Baltimore, the Ravens, and Ray Lewis...I will copy and paste them here...

Today is the AFC Championship for the Baltimore Ravens. It has been a VERY hard year…I have NEVER seen so many injuries, so many sidelined players. It seems that SO MANY players have been on the injured reserve this year!

Yet, as the Ravens always say…”the next man standing!” As a TEAM, they overcame tremendous odds to get back to the AFC Championship!

They believed in God, witness Ray Lewis’ testimony of Psalms 91 which he wore beneath his uniform at his last game in Baltimore, Tory Smith’s dogged determination to play in spite of the tragic loss of his brother (He played anyway, and scored 3 touchdowns…What a thing of beauty!) And how about Flacco being flushed out of the pocket, and heaving a 55 yard bomb to Jacoby Jones to tie the game and force overtime against the Broncos in frigid temperatures and in the thin Colorado air! How about that dramatic field goal set up by two runs down the middle by Ray Rice? How about the dramatic victory in San Diego, when we were 3[sup]rd[/sup] down and twenty (I just remember it was a LONGSHOT!), where Anquan Boldin came from across the field to make a devastating block, that allowed Ray Rice to see “daylight” for those last 5-7 yards and a first down…and the measurement and ball placement that in the end the officials would not take away…despite the red flag from San Diego!

In the end, this year has been a shining example of what faith and teamwork can do! I truly believe this is the best coached, finest playing team that Baltimore football has ever assembled. Their “never say die attitude” has earned them this distinction in my mind! No matter how this day ends…This team has been one WE ALL can be proud of! What a ride! As a Christian, I hope that God will be with them, and regardless of outcome, they are tremendous WINNERS!

We Baltimoreans love our football…with men like Unitas, Berry, Donovan, Ameche, Bert Jones, The Sack Pack and Joe Erhman…There are too many to list all of them. And how many have “played like a Raven” in the modern era? Many of these men were not only the best of football players but fine, albeit at times very “colorful” human beings! Bless the Lord, they are the best! And thank God we have been blessed to witness some of the best that professional sports has ever had to offer.

At the end of the day, they “kept the faith”, they loved one another, and they overcame! May God be with them, and may they make God, Baltimore, and themselves proud by giving it their all, and “leaving it all on the field”, as they say. In the end, they will only be winners in my sight!

Think of honorary team Captain O.J. Brigance, a hero on and off the field!

The 2012 Ravens have held forth a great example of perseverance through adversity…we ALL have our trials in life…I am no stranger to them either!

My God give us ALL His strength…today, and every day!

To His glory...Bless the Lord! (Psalm 103)
