BALTIMOREFLACCO

Stars of the Game

46 posts in this topic

Shoutout to the following players:

No particular order

-Paul Kruger - Causes chaos all game and never let Luck be comfortable
-Danell Ellerbe - Played a great all around game. Coverage, pass rush, and run stuffing
-Bernard Pierce - Self explanatory
- Anquan Boldin - CLUTCH
-Joe Flacco - Continues to do great things in the playoffs
-Cary Williams, Chykie Brown, and COrey Graham - Clutch INT, and good coverage all game. Defending 50+ passes isn't easy and they didn't let up any big plays.
-Ray Lewis - Self explanatory
-Yanda, Birk, Mckinney, and Osemele - For the most part they protected Flacco really well. Oher....not so much lol
-Pernell Mcphee - looked like last year's Mcphee
-Vonta Leach - Did what he does best and scored a TD

Feel free to add anyone else

Boldin was spectacular. He was making separation and made some key catches to extend drives.

Torrey Smith, he didn't have the stats that Q did but he had some nice clutch catches and his downfield blocking was huge

Torrey made some key block and one of them is the one he blocks leading Pitta's TD.....what a gameballer.....Of course including the OP's points....

I came in just to make sure that Torrey's name was mentioned. Sure, he didn't do much in the receiving game today, but he set Pierce, Boldin and Pitta up nicely today. That'll be something else that Denver's D is going to have to plan for.

And Caldwell... really dialed it up today as well.

Defensively... EVERYONE.

I genuinely think we should start Pierce. I just think he's the better runner.
I don't agree even though I love Pierce, but it's a great problem to have
he was better today, but lets not get carried away. rice is still the better threat as a receiving option

Oh yeah absolutely, but I just feel better about running balance if we have pierce.

But again, good problem.

Joe Flacco last 5 postseason games - 9 TDs, 2 picks. Andy Dalton and Matt Ryan's postseason careers combined, 5 games - 3 TDs, 8 picks.

Everyone on the Oline except Oher.
Osemele had one hell of a day. Put Reid at RT. See what he can do
Oher struggled, but also was going against the colts best pass rusher in mathis. i was really impressed with how well McKinney played

And Next week vs Miller.
Then week after that vs Jones
Then the SB a horrible combo of either
Matthews, Aldon, Justin, Abraham, Irvin..............

Mathis was easy, these next few scare the hell out of me

The whole McKinnie thing makes sense if you think about it. During the season you always worry about his motivation. But in the playoffs with his window closing, you know he's got motivation.

McKinnie was solid today.

Different runners. Pierce is north south and just moving, while Rice does more dancing and is the better receiver and pass blocker.

8 times out of 10 people here forget the opposing defense is set up to stop Ray Rice before anyone else. It was the same last year when Ricky Williams came off the bench and had some good runs. "Oh lets start Rickey!"

Pierce reminds me of when we had had a feature back in McGahee then drafted Rice, one day Pierce is going to be the starter.

Random stat (courtesy of Rotoworld): Boldin's 145 receiving yards are the sixth-most by a WR at least 32 years old in post-season history.

Umm does that remove Oher from the equation? I dunno though about Reid at RT, he has barely played there.

It's hard to separate receivers and QBs. To get a completion you need someone to throw and someone to catch after all. I would say my top3 would be:

1. Flacco to Boldin
2. Paul Kruger
3. Bernard Pierce

Ray Rice is the better runner but he doesn't fit with our O-line. With the zone blocking scheme the O-line is supposed to not neccisarily beat their guys but spread them out so the runningback can pick a hole. Our O-line doesn't really do that and Pierce is better at yards after contact.

Yeah, that's kind my feeling too. I feel like rice would be better in a more "Man" scheme. Like if he were in Seattle or something.

Ray Lewis, 10 weeks after tearing his tricep, in his last game at the bank, playing with a huge brace, leads the Ravens with 13 tackles in a win over the colts who we've always had trouble against.

*Standing ovation*

McKinnie was solid because at that point we were playing intentionally slowly and pretty much just running the ball.

Caldwell should be added. Called a very good game. Nice ratio and calls plays at the right time. Stays patient and seems to know when to adjust. Also uses the personnel to the teams advantage. The front 7 as a whole played very well to me.

It was a great team effort. But if I had to pick one player Ellerbe was the MVP. He was all over the place and ran side line to sideline. McKinnie gets a serious honorable mention though.

I thought the same thing.

Ed Reed played well and I give credit to the coaches. Harbs changed the o-line and played McKinnie and put Ray in for the last play. Great moves there. Pees made one mistake in getting soft on that third and 26, but he seemed to learn from it and after that he dialed up the pressure the rest of the game. Caldwell stuck with the run and Pierce had a great game and I really appreciated that he let Vonta take it in for the score, as he deserved it!

Caldwell doesn't leave me scratching my head like Cam did. Always a good mix at the right time.

The only play I really hated today was the 3rd and goal early in the game. No Crosses or slants. He goes with the outs (which Joe threw a pick against Denver) and a TE running straight through the back of the endzone. The options were weak.
