Luck Or Flacco?!

His numbers are good for a rookie! Two rings will get Flacco to the HoF. One might get Luck there if he keeps it up
What numbers exactly? Yards?

Luck
54.1 completion percentage
23 TDs
18 INTs
76.5 rating
4374 yards
7.0 yards per attempt

Flacco

59.7 completion rate 60 (rookie year)
22 TDs 14 (rookie year)
10 INTs 12 (rookie year)
87.7 rating 80.3 (rookie year)
3817 yards 2971 (rookie year)
7.19 yards per attempt 6.94 (rookie year)

Flacco had 200 less attempts his rookie year than Luck. Multiplied out by completion percentage/yards per it would have given him roughly 700 more yards putting him at 3600.

His yards are better bc he has no run game to help him whatsoever.
Luck will be better than Joe in a few years. That's the point. Luck is a special QB prospect
No, not really. He's just been in a tough situation. He's asked to do more than the other rookies. Wilson was sucking before they started doing read-option "inflate the stats" RGIII offense. To people who watch the game, Luck is the most impressive rookie QB and one of the most impressive in history. Of course he did come in as one of the most pro-ready.

You might be right but there is no evidence to support that opinion. Which was my point.

His yards are better because he passed 200 more times than Flacco as a rookie and more than him this season. The rest of his numbers are worse than Flacco's.

It is just hysterical to me. The very things everyone gets on Flacco about...completion percentage/INTs/fumbles...Luck is worse in spades but he is the next great QB. We'll see.

I kind of think this has gotten off topic. This isn't about 5 years from now, it's about what quarterback you would rather have THIS Sunday, as in 2 days from now. At home, Joe has completed 62 percent of his passes for 2300 yards, 15 TDs and 5 INTs, a quarterback rating of 99. On the road Luck is completing 53 percent of his passes for 2200 yards, 11 TDs and 13 INTs. Flacco is also going up against one of the worst defenses he's faced all season, and the running backs are going up against one of the worst run defenses they've seen all season. Right now, with all the variables, I have more confidence in Flacco having a good day against the Colts defense at home on Sunday than I do Luck the Ravens defense on the road.

While Luck's numbers have been disappointing from a completion and INT perspective, he's still a rookie and that's to be expected. I'd like it a lot more if he was around 60%, even with those INTs, but the fact of the matter is Luck is doing a lot and carrying that team. If they can help him out and protect him, he's got Pro Bowler written all over him, maybe as soon as next year. He has rookie-like numbers in a lot of ways, but the way he reads a defense and his intelligence on the field are very impressive.

True, but the point of this thread was who will have a better game on Sunday? In my mind, right now Flacco is playing lights out at home this year - 62 percent completions, 15 TDs 5 INTs - and is playing a poor defense. Luck may be playing a subpar Ravens defense, but there are still playmakers here, and he's been pretty bad on the road this year - 53 percent completions, 11 TDs, 13 INTs - I think in this one matchup, Sunday, Flacco will have a better game than Luck, based on these factors plus Flacco's post-season experience vs. Luck playing in his first post-season start ever.

Wait... I thought the measure of a QB was by his ability to win the Super Bowl? Doesn't matter if he plays LIKE Manning, Brady, Brees or Rodgers... he has to win a Super Bowl to be allowed in the conversation, right?

Then Luck will never be in that conversation because look at what Manning had to go through with that franchise and he was only able to secure one ring.

If Luck wins a Super Bowl in the next 10-years, I'd be surprised. If doesn't win one at all, I wouldn't be surprised.

Football is about 53-men -- not just one. Flacco has a solid team to support him. Luck's team will be just like Peyton's, built around him as the main cog, so when he goes down -- the wheels come off.

It's been a year since i've been on line, and i can't believe this stuff is still going on. Get on board people. Flacco may not be Johnny U but he's our QB. I'll take him all week long and twice on sunday

For this sunday? Flacco. For next year? Flacco. After that who knows.

If I was building a franchise though and had to pick one it would be Luck easily, Joe has 4-5+ years on him, and Luck is very promising.
You may be right on both points However it's lucks first year and has a good chance of losing his first playoff game. If he puts together back to back years then there's a discussion. Not before

In their defense, that strategy did win them a Super Bowl and got them to another one.
Thanks, thought the same thing and may I add 10 straight years making the play-offs.

Luck is a beast

Who knows really, Flacco is FINALLY without cam, so hopefully more positive will come from him down the road, and Luck is a rookie so you never know..
Personally I'd take Flacco

 It's probably because I haven't watched much Colts football this year, but are people just saying Luck's going to be this 'beast' based on his college stats and one season in which he fumbled and INT'd his way into HAVING to make comebacks?

Yes. Oh and because apparently he is the only player on the team. :)

hahaha we'll see.

Its nice to bash a player when you say you "never saw him play" and only go by stats. If you noticed, I didn't bash Flacco who is very well a beast of his own but who also had his ups and downs. Luck who you never saw play was sacked 40 plus times, took multiple hits but still got up to only help lead his team to 11 wins. Also may I add playing with multiple rookies or first time players for the Colts. The kids is good, to not see that is just foolish.

It isn't "bashing" to state facts. Even those who tout Luck as the second coming among the pundits say he had to make so many comebacks due in large part to his own turnovers.

Flacco had a 40 sack year too.
In fact he hasn't had one lower than 29.
He also keeps on getting up

Never said Luck wouldn't be a beast. He may well become such a thing. But he isn't one right now and there isn't anything to back up such a claim.

Oh, look whose jimmies are all rustled. How is what I asked bashing? I merely asked because from what I've seen in highlights and some games, he did most of that to himself! I haven't watched many Skins games either, but RGIII is obviously the real deal. Flacco has had five seasons and I've watched every game, but I wasn't talking about him at all, so why bring him up? I HAVE seen Luck play, I said I haven't seen much. It's all well and good that he and other rookies stepped up, but how is that any indication that he'll be a great QB in the future? It's not. It's one season. Last year Cam Newton was all the rage and his team is obviously worse than the Colts. This year, it's Andrew Luck. Not passing a death's knell on the guy, but come on.

Luck also attempted 627 passes, has no running game and jokes for receiver (minus reggie wayne and no t.y. hilton is not a legitmate receiver) Luck is top 5 in passes attempted and is comparable or less in INT's with the exception of Brady. Romo, Brees, and Stafford have similar INT numbers this year
Luck also completes about 12% of his passes. Not hard to put up raw numbers when you throw that often

Did you ever think those mistakes maybe because of a struggling O-line, a rookie WR running the wrong route or Luck forced to pass more because the run game has stalled. Of course some of those INT are the QB fought as well but there is more to the story than looking at stats and then making a assessment of the guy. That's my point I guess. No hard feeling but just needed to get that out there.
