Flacco, everyone forgets how many INTS luck throws.

I expect atleast 2 picks from Luck this Sunday.

Luck also attempted 627 passes, has no running game and jokes for receiver (minus reggie wayne and no t.y. hilton is not a legitmate receiver) Luck is top 5 in passes attempted and is comparable or less in INT's with the exception of Brady. Romo, Brees, and Stafford have similar INT numbers this year

I'd take Flacco right now like the others, but Luck is probably going to wind up being the better QB long term.

LOL

Really? Now, c'mon. You really think they are going to rally around Flacco?

Let's see, this season it is Luck, RGII.
In the past it has been Freeman, Bradford, Newton.
Stafford and Vick even had threads claiming they were better QBs.

I'll take Flacco.

As for Luck in the future...um...yeah right. He has more INTs AND more Fumbles than Flacco.

Talk to me when he has more than one season under his belt.

Except that the Colts will repeat history by building everything around Luck and then when he ends up injured they will be a basement dweller once again because they did nothing else to build up the rest of their team.

Which is why you should rather have Flacco this Sunday who has a strong running game to back him up. Not to mention that as much as we have gotten on the Ravens' offensive line and defense throughout the year, both units are still better than the line and defense that Luck has on his sid and the stats back it up. Throw the "Ray Lewis announces retirement" factor in there along with the cozy confines of M & T and I don't see how anyone is LOGICALLY picking the Colts to win Sunday. Last season's regular season win aside, I have never felt more confident in our team playing the Colts. Now as for the week after this, meh....

Luck. Dude, might be a rookie but he is a very wise QB and with Ray Rice taking the bulk of the load, he would beat up the secondary all day with play action passes.

If you had said Schaub or Flacco, I'd of said Flacco. Flacco or Dalton, Flacco (even though Dalton is having a better year). RG3 or Flacco, RG3. Flacco or Wilson, FLacco. Flacco or Ponder, Flacco. Flacco or Rodgers....Do I need to say it?!?!

Ravens will be running the ball more than anything on Sunday. 29th ranked rushing defense against Rice and Pierce? Bold prediction: Flacco attempts only 13 passes while Luck throws for 30+ for less than 200 yards and 2 INTS.

I Will, and I will talk to you in about 20 years when he is inducted to the hall of fame. Look at Peyton Manning's first year, 31 turnovers with a 3-13 record. That was with the great Marshall Faulk.

Hating on a rookie that had to basically carry a 2-16 team into the playoffs. I'd of loved to see what Flacco would of done there as a rookie with that offensive line and with those putrid running backs. Hell, id love to see what Tom Brady would of done as a rookie. He probably would of been out of the league after 3 years!

So Flacco gets less than 130 yards. He's gotta attempt more than that! That aint bold, that would be a dumb gameplan. Blanance is everything!

I think the intention was good. To rally the fans for Flacco.

The OP just clearly underestimated the Flacco hate around here and how they drool when they think of Flacco failing.

Don't forget, the Colts are also 21st in opposing passing yards per game and 22nd in opposing quarterback rating - puts them on par with the New York Giants. I have a feeling we'll see a balanced run-pass ratio like we had in the last 2 games.

I don't hate Luck at all.

However, I've heard this all before as I said. To claim a rookie is better...please. Especially one with the INTs and fumbles of Luck. Which is what I meant about talking to me later. Wasn't implying...oh he's always going to suck. Just meant there is absolutely, positively, nothing, and I do mean nothing, at this point in his career to pick him in a playoff game over an experienced Flacco. A Flacco that has won at least one playoff game in every single season and has improved his playoff performances every single season.

And at this point in his career, there is absolutely nothing with his performance that screams success in the future. Not saying he won't be successful in the least, mind you.

Will we need anything more? If the run game gets going we don't NEED to throw the ball. The pressure will all be on Luck if we can consistently move the ball on the ground.

Even with that, I can see, with a better defense, Indianapolis win a ring in the next few years. You have to admit that his numbers are pretty good for a rookie.

That was indeed my original purpose: rally the Air Flacco Force! But alas, my hopes were shot down... Flacco: only QB to play in and win a playoff game his 1st 5 years! :SPINgigem:

What numbers exactly? Yards?

Luck
54.1 completion percentage
23 TDs
18 INTs
76.5 rating
4374 yards
7.0 yards per attempt

Flacco

59.7 completion rate 60 (rookie year)
22 TDs 14 (rookie year)
10 INTs 12 (rookie year)
87.7 rating 80.3 (rookie year)
3817 yards 2971 (rookie year)
7.19 yards per attempt 6.94 (rookie year)

Flacco had 200 less attempts his rookie year than Luck. Multiplied out by completion percentage/yards per it would have given him roughly 700 more yards putting him at 3600.

His yards are better bc he has no run game to help him whatsoever.
Luck will be better than Joe in a few years. That's the point. Luck is a special QB prospect
No, not really. He's just been in a tough situation. He's asked to do more than the other rookies. Wilson was sucking before they started doing read-option "inflate the stats" RGIII offense. To people who watch the game, Luck is the most impressive rookie QB and one of the most impressive in history. Of course he did come in as one of the most pro-ready.

You might be right but there is no evidence to support that opinion. Which was my point.

His yards are better because he passed 200 more times than Flacco as a rookie and more than him this season. The rest of his numbers are worse than Flacco's.

It is just hysterical to me. The very things everyone gets on Flacco about...completion percentage/INTs/fumbles...Luck is worse in spades but he is the next great QB. We'll see.

I kind of think this has gotten off topic. This isn't about 5 years from now, it's about what quarterback you would rather have THIS Sunday, as in 2 days from now. At home, Joe has completed 62 percent of his passes for 2300 yards, 15 TDs and 5 INTs, a quarterback rating of 99. On the road Luck is completing 53 percent of his passes for 2200 yards, 11 TDs and 13 INTs. Flacco is also going up against one of the worst defenses he's faced all season, and the running backs are going up against one of the worst run defenses they've seen all season. Right now, with all the variables, I have more confidence in Flacco having a good day against the Colts defense at home on Sunday than I do Luck the Ravens defense on the road.

While Luck's numbers have been disappointing from a completion and INT perspective, he's still a rookie and that's to be expected. I'd like it a lot more if he was around 60%, even with those INTs, but the fact of the matter is Luck is doing a lot and carrying that team. If they can help him out and protect him, he's got Pro Bowler written all over him, maybe as soon as next year. He has rookie-like numbers in a lot of ways, but the way he reads a defense and his intelligence on the field are very impressive.

True, but the point of this thread was who will have a better game on Sunday? In my mind, right now Flacco is playing lights out at home this year - 62 percent completions, 15 TDs 5 INTs - and is playing a poor defense. Luck may be playing a subpar Ravens defense, but there are still playmakers here, and he's been pretty bad on the road this year - 53 percent completions, 11 TDs, 13 INTs - I think in this one matchup, Sunday, Flacco will have a better game than Luck, based on these factors plus Flacco's post-season experience vs. Luck playing in his first post-season start ever.

Wait... I thought the measure of a QB was by his ability to win the Super Bowl? Doesn't matter if he plays LIKE Manning, Brady, Brees or Rodgers... he has to win a Super Bowl to be allowed in the conversation, right?

For this sunday? Flacco. For next year? Flacco. After that who knows.

If I was building a franchise though and had to pick one it would be Luck easily, Joe has 4-5+ years on him, and Luck is very promising.
