Aaron Wilson ‏@RavensInsider
Ravens signed OT David Mims, LB Spencer Adkins, WR Tori Gurley, DT Swanson Miller and TE Steve Watson to reserve futue deals

Mims is a monster of a man at 6'8" and 335 lbs. Limited to RT.
Gurley is a big, tall receiver at 6'4" with a bit of speed to him. He's a former Packer.
Adkins has played with the Falcons for the past 3 seasons, and started a game this year.
No information on the other 2.

Not bad for future contracts. Some intriguing guys.

There was a good bit of noise about Tori Gurley in the preseason. Apparently, the Packers liked him quite a bit, but with an obviously ultra talented receiving corps, Gurley couldn't maintain a spot on the roster. Still, he has potential.

Here's an article on Gurley from back in July.

I'll take a former Packer receiver even if he didn't make the team. That position is stacked for them and most guys they have are solid and become starters. Swanson Miller has been on the practice squad of the Saints the past two years. Just competition it looks like.

Regardless most of these guys won't make the team and are just there to take up space. Not going to get too excited over anything.

More guys for everyone (including myself) to get hyped up about for nothing.
Except Gurley. I think he actually has a shot at making an impact. Not entirely sure though.

Wow. Well, it's a nice thought. At least we have some competition. I remember hearing good things about Jack Cornell. I guess we'll see about Mims.

We're really getting stacked at WR talent. We will soon need to cut some good WRs.

What is a future contract? I can put the two words together, and deduce the meaning of the two, but what I'm asking is when are they eligible and how does it affect salary cap?

Is Tori Gurley related to that freshmen RB for Georgia? He's a monster...

It basically means that none of these guys was currently on an NFL roster and can't be signed to one right now (for this season), but we've signed them for next year (2013). It's different than practice squad I believe, because any team is allowed to sign a player from any other team's practice squad to their active roster, but a future contract guarantees a player will be with the team that signed them the following season.

Don't know much about Steve Watson - if he's the same guy from Michigan than he's basically a guy who played several positions, never started for the Wolverines I believe.

Here's an article on Watson.

Congrats to Tori Gurley and the Ravens! Tori is an asset on and off the field! Great potential, and community minded. He will be just like Donald Driver has been to the Green Bay Packers! You are lucky to get him!
