Your favorite Ray Lewis moment

80 posts in this topic

There are three pretty random plays or moments I think off, when I think about Ray Lewis

First. Simple tackle on a runningback. I don't even know which game it was, but the way he tackled the rb. He looked like a tiger, bringing down one of his prey. I was like this man is a BEAST.

Second. In 2003 when he had 6 int's. I just started watching football and wasn't a fan of a particulair team yet. I was watching a Ravens game at a sportsbar and I was talking to a friend during plays and on the next play Ray picked off a pass and sprinted along the sideline. I looked in awe turned to my friend and said: "He is really good" and my friend just smiled and said: "Ray Lewis? He is the best" I became a Ravensfan then and there.

Third. When the Ravens won the Dallas game in I think it was 2008. The last game in Texas stadium. After the game Ray screamed. "TURN THE LIGHTS OUT IN THE MF"

Love the NFL Films music, camera angles, and Harry Kalas' voice.

Check at the 2:04 mark.

i think as far as plays are concerned, i have to go with the interception. there are just so many factors of why it's a great play; the titans were coming off a superbowl appearance and were favoured to win it all in 2000, they were at home, their crowd was serenading the ravens with boos because of comments by brian billick after the previous game, trent dilfer's playbook had gone missing after that game and coincidentally the titans seemed to have an edge on the ravens in this game. then ray intercepts steve mcnair, makes a housecall, and tells 70,000 stunned fans to shush as he ends their season, on route to the superbowl. classic ray lewis.

a lot of my favourite ray moments are of him on the sidelines, motivating his team with his heart and his words. the man's leadership is legendary and i think years from now when people talk about the greatest leaders in not only football, but in the history of professional sports, you're going to hear his name at the very beginning of the conversation.

Meeting him.

Stood in line for at least an hour and fifteen minutes. He had been signing the whole time.

I came up to him in my purple Ray Lewis jersey, and handed him my poster of him over top of Ben Roethlisberger.

He looked at me like I was his best friend and he had not seen me in years. He was SO very excited to see me. Excitedly he said " Hey man! How ya doin' ?" He smiled ear to ear and extended his hand for me to shake.

Ray Lewis extended HIS hand to ME, to shake.

I recon he had done this for every one else in line too, but it didnt seem that way.

There have just been too many. Perhaps the best was not even on the field but the locker room. After the crushing loss that ended last year I believe Ray Lewis's speech in the Locker Room kept everyone that returned focused on this year and what it would take to get back to that point. Lets hope there are a few more highlights befor it all said and done this year.

It really sucks right now, and finding a moment really hurts for some reason, but I'd go with "Put some smiles on your faces, this is a 60 minute balls game".

I'm sad.

A play that wasn't mentioned here yet..2010..against the bills when the game went into over time and ray lewis rips the ball from their TE shawn nelson's hands to set up the game winning fg. I was watching it in albany, ny (where i went to school) and there were so many obnoxious bills fans around me. I remember that play very clearly

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2010102402/2010/REG7/bills@ravens#menu=highlights&tab=analyze&analyze=boxscore

the play is at 2:50

The San Diego play always flashes in my mind when I think of Ray Ray.

Dustin Keller against the Jets a few years back, crosses my mind as epic. That was just straight beasting.

Ocho-Cinco hit. Ocho looked just straight scared after wards.

Even Pittsburgh fans will miss him, as he loved Heinz Field. Eating that grass... Loved it.

The favorite moment I am honestly going to miss though -- when ever he steps out on the field to lighten up the crowd with his dance. There is, there was, and there will never be anything more epic than that.

I remember in 2004 when he autographed my Madden 2005 cover (which he was on), and at a later date in training camp when I shook his hand. I wrapped my hand in a bag when I showered for at least 2 weeks after that.

Tackle on Darren Sproles is still my ultimate favorite.

CLAP, CLAP, LET'S GO!

Mine too! I was watching that game from the Yosemite Lodge in Yosemite NP! The only Ravens fan in a sea of Chargers and Niners fans. It was great!!! :)

Is that the play in which Mendenhall broke his shoulder?

Not necessarily a favorite but something that branded in my mind about the toughness and heart that Ray had. I remember years ago, can't remember what year or who we were playing (might have been Bengals) but Ray got hurt. He hurt his shoulder, or arm, and I don't think he played after that game. However, he literally played with one arm. Dragging defenders down with his good arm. He didn't tackle as well, and needed help, but he would just not let go of guys. He would be dragged a few yards clinging for dear life on running backs, but never gave up. It was something you just don't see guys do in the NFL today, but Ray refused to go down or give up. It really was a neat sight to see.

He won't be remembered for that. Too many other great plays.
He may not be remembered for that play but I was there to see him signaling Cmac to follow him and the devastating block he delivered to a Bronco on the missed FG. I can remember thinking how foolish it was for the Broncos to try such a long FG in Bmore at night and the hit was so hard I was surprised to see the Bronco get up from the block. Ray tattooed him! It was vintage Ray Lewis but his solo tackle of Sproules is hard to beat.

My favorite play all time was in 1997 when he ran down Chargers Eric Metcalf from behind after he had streaked 62 yards down the sideline. Eric Metcalf was a slot receiver/HB who had timed in the 4.3's.

Debbie downer. Isn't that a horsecollar tackle these days and 15?

Man how I hate the way the league has gone. Even a lot of his massive hits would be flagged today

Bump.

Just finished watching the game that started it all for #52 and the Ravens in Memorial Stadium against the Raiders again. The way Ray picked the ball off of Rickey Dudley's legs in the endzone for his first career INT was something else.
