I'm not too well informed on all this cap talk, but tell me this chart dont say we're gonna have to let Jones go?
it tells us he's not staying at that price. Nor leach and boldin. They are all either cut, or extended reducing their cap number IMO.

Based on who's on the roster now, here's how I see it looking next year.

QB - Flacco, Taylor
RB - Rice, Pierce, Allen
FB - Leach
WR - T. Smith, Doss, J. Jones, Streeter, D. Thompson
TE - Pitta, Dickson
OL - Oher, Osemele, Gradkowski, Yanda, Reid

DL - Ngata, Cody, A. Jones, McPhee, Tyson
LB - Suggs, Ellerbe, McClain, Upshaw, McClellan
CB - Webb, Graham, J. Smith, C. Brown, A. Jackson
S - Pollard, C. Thompson

K - Tucker
P - Koch
LS - Cox

Obviously there are some other guys currently on the roster that may be back, but I think these are the "guarantees" for the roster next year. Draft picks may also change some things, but this is how I see it. Obviously not a full roster, either.

Edit to add: I didn't forget about guys like Josh Bynes, Omar Brown, etc. They'll be in battles based on who else we bring in.

I know Allen is a great special teams player, I'm hoping B.Rainey can find his special teams niche and beat Allen out for 3rd RB spot next season

Don't we have dead cap from guys who aren't playing anymore like McGahee and Foxworth that should be cleared up next year?

Any and all discussion about cuts, cap space, etc. is pure speculation until the post season is over. Hopefully that date is in February. Except, I think Cary Williams is gone no matter what happens in the next few weeks.

I get what you're saying. At this point, Allen is pretty much guaranteed a spot since he's Jacoby's number 1 blocker. However, I wouldn't say that means he's a lock for the 3rd RB spot. I could see us carrying 4, with Allen being a ST guy primarily.

Doubt we keep 4, unless Rainey shows something on special teams. Wasn't he IR'd for Allen this year?

All this makes my head hurt, should be as simple as this: play good, you're in, play bad, you're gone. Anyway I hope our players and our team aren't focused on this crap right now...

What are your opinions on Kruger? I think he is a necessity to our defense, he really stepped up this year recording 9 sacks. Hes been our only consistant defensive player, though he caught fire later in the season. Is he in Baltimore or somewhere else next year?

I think it depends on Flacco. He's the determining factor on whether or not we can afford to bring some of out FAs back. I've seen somewhere that the front office will be primarily focused on Ellerbe, Kruger, and Ihedigbo behind Flacco.

No, those guys are off the books after this year. The only major dead money they are presently carrying for 2013 is $1.8M for Billy Cundiff.

There have been a couple of players who have relieved some of my anxieties about the defense next year, mainly: Josh Bynes, Omar Brown, Chykie Brown, Corey Graham, DeAngelo Tyson, Ihedigbo and Dannell Ellerbe. Thus I dont think we NEED to go ILB or CB too early in the draft or do a overpaid FA pickup. I do think, dependent upon Reeds future, we may look at S's.

Overall I would say Ellerbe as an obvious starter. Corey Graham and Brown I could see as the nickel package along with Webb..I love Jimmy, however right now I am more comfortable with the other two - Once Jimmy gets some confidence and swagger back in his game (and hopefully injuries subside) he may be able to be the corner opposite Webb. Basically I am saying as many others have Cary is expendable. Kruger I think we need back, Upshaw is not a pure pass rusher and Suggs we should be weary about now as being a dominant pass rusher all by himself. Depth at pass rusher should never be undervalued and I cannot understand letting Kruger go. On the DL I am iffy about NT, will Ngata make the move there, should Kemo come back, will Cody get more consistant. I am hoping Cody gets better with age as most NTs do.

Offensively I cant say I am confident in many of the young guys taking over as starters. Out of all of them I would say Gradkowski as he looked like a competitor last week. Of the young WRs I really do think we need an early to mid round investment here (I dont want us going through FA). I think we should keep Boldin and his contract - while we may be overpaying he is too valuable to us and Joe to let him go with so little production or even flash from the other WRs we have.
forgot about Bynes..... vary impressive for sure

i think Carry Williams could go for sure kemo can go cody has yet to impress me gotta see if reed follows lewis out the door. on O you could make a case for Q to go to save some $ but now that Caldwell is finally using him in the right way(in the mid) gotta see what happens in post season flacco to boldin on a slant could win us the bowl. moeller is kinda like cam in that his squad has kinda hit a plateau/regress cycle but like pees this year injuries have been hard on him plus some of the players he has to work with are just insufficient. bottom line is the O-line, save 2 or 3, needs an overhaul. I think if we dont go bpa in the draft this is where we need to spend our first round pick

I like to wait and see how players perform in the post season before making decision on who should stay and who should go. However, this is going to be more of a Cap and money issue more than anything else.

I'd really like to hold onto Kruger, Boldin, and Ellerbe. Reed would be great to have around too if we can make it work. He certainly sounded like he wanted to remain in Baltimore today, but he could follow the money. It's hard to predict open market value for all of these guys... I think Kruger will be most sought after because he's young and had a breakout season. Reed and Boldin are older and may not find much on the market if allowed to test it.

Cary Williams wants 8 million/year. Kruger wants 8 million/year...we dont have that type of money whatsoever. I think they both find work else where maybe on the Colts. Ed Reed will likely be back...he and Harbaugh have been talking non stop and Harbaugh mentioned he is going to rally around signing Ed Reed and try and make it a big priority this offseason. We need to extend Anquan Boldin to cut 4 million or so from his 2013 salary but still give him the money he deserves.

Krueger and C. williams will be gone,
Birk will retire or cut

We're actually in a pretty good spot. Cutting Boldin saves $6 million. Cutting Bobbie Williams saves $1.2 million. Birk probably retires saving $2 million. Extensions to Jacoby Jones and Vonta Leach probably reduce the cap another $2-3 million. We're looking at roughly $12 million that would open up by those moves. That leaves plenty of money to re-sign Flacco, re-sign some of the other guys (Ellerbe, Kruger, etc.), and even make a play in free agency.

As much as I don't want to see Ray go, his decision is really helping our cap situation.
restructuring boldins, leach, JJ contracts is smart move by Ozzie. cutting boldin would be life threatening to our offense. cutting bobbie and birk retiring would help too, reed will go somewhere else. krueger and c williams are going somewhere else too.

our priority right now is Flacco> Ellerbeast> re-working boldin's, JJ and others contracts

Ozzie seems committed to keeping Reed. II think a deal gets done with him in the next three weeks. Same with Flacco.

I see new deals for Boldin and Jacoby to lower their cap numbers sand restructuring for Leach, Suggs and Yanda. I think we'll do enough where we can keep one of Ellerbe, Kruger or C. Williams.

My preference is Ellerbe as Kruger casandra be replaced by Hamilton, McAdoo, Upshaw, draft pick.

I know some of you still think Reed will be gone, but the way he was acting today, and the stuff he just said on twitter, he keeps talking repeat. If he doesn't change his mind and retire, i expect him back.

No rest for the weary, the Ravens FO will start personnel meetings today.

Here's a preview of the coming offseason for the Ravens. Needless to say, they must get Flacco signed to a long term deal or it's going to be ugly if they have to use the Tag.

I know this might create controversy, but what if we made Allen the FB? He has the hands and is an excellent blocker.
