Ray Lewis to retire after this season

263 posts in this topic

Some clown on ESPN First Take just said that Junior Seau was a better linebacker than Ray Lewis. That is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE! He also said people weren't really afraid of Ray Lewis. Wait...what?? You mean one of the most feared tacklers to ever play the game?

No Skip was actually very respectful of Ray. It's some guest who played against Ray in college and I think he played in the NFL but I can't remember his name.

I hope our team will overcome one of the most shocking news (as expected but not this early) in the Ravens nation. Ray Lewis last game, his last iconic dancing in the game opening, his last stumbling on the QB, his last knocking out cold whoever catching the ball in the middle, his last chasing the baller across the field like the dude stealing his money, his last inpirational speech, his last bullrush beatdown to whoever trying to block him in preference to Mr. Chad Johnson's experience, his last motivation on the sideline, his last..............

I think it is my last heavy drinking on this Sunday.......

The reality still hasn't set in for me. There aren't enough words to describe what Ray has meant to so many people, to the city of Baltimore, and to the Ravens.
I just feel so lucky that his career was spent here and that I got to witness it every game from first to last

I remember after the Panthers game over a couple years ago, as my dad and I were leaving the stadium a Panthers fan came up to us and said he felt privileged and honored to see Ray Lewis play in person. I couldn't help but smile when he said that. I don't think there isn't a person in the world who doesn't have all the respect in the world for Ray Lewis.

All I know is when ever the Ravens play their last game, whether it's on Sunday, next week, the week after or after the Super Bowl I'm going to cry.

trivia Q.
As many sacks as Ray has, has he sacked a QB from every team in the NFL ?
Or in other words is there a team where he has NOT gotten a sack ?
What teams ?

After extensive research through Pro Football Reference's files I came away with this:

The 2 AFC teams that Ray does not have a sack against are the Raiders and the Chargers. As for the NFC, he does have at least half a sack against 6 teams: the Cowboys, Redskins, Buccaneers, Rams, Bears and Vikings.
He has the most sacks against the Browns with 7 and Steelers with 6.5.

I looked up his INT stats also. He has 5 INTs against the Bengals all-time and 3 against the Steelers and Browns, that's his most.

If you combine the two categories together, Ray has at least 1 INT or half a sack against 24 out of 31 teams. The remaining seven teams are: the Chargers, Lions, Packers, Cardinals, Seahawks, Falcons and Eagles.

These should be pretty accurate and considering I had to go season-by-season and game-to-game, it will have to do.

I guess many of us who were there will never forget the departure of the Baltimore Colts. Having Ray Lewis in Baltimore put that in the past for me , made me feel vindicated or something and brought greatness back to Baltimore. Thank you Ray.
