Yeah, I agree. What do you think? I'd personally rather keep KO at RT and move Oher to LG. Teams traditionally use the LG to move over to LT in case of injury. I feel this is our best line-up. We have two guards who can move over to tackle in case of injury. We have a RT who has shown great promise. All we would need is a LT, and we can get one in free agency or the draft.
Oher to LG is interesting, never even considered it. Harbs always talks about playing the best five, so maybe he will give this a try. Not so sure Oher is strong enough to hold up on the interior line.

I think, despite his struggles this year at LT, the Ravens still veiw Oher as a OT and RT will be his spot. I think they really love his ability to flip sides in a pinch.

Fullback and running back.... Nah just kidding maybe he's not a flacco fan and thinks QB is our biggest issue
hahah go full back with the 1st rd pick? seems logical to me, he can spend a few years learning from Vonta.

I realize defence has some issues and theres a number of ways we can go about addressing them, but at this point in time, the best way we can help our defence is to get the offence a stud LT to improve pocket time preventing 3 and outs.

Oher's a pretty strong dude, actually. I really want to see him at guard or RT. He got to a great start this season at LT, but now he's back to his old self.

Oher is nothing more than an average LT. Servicable but often frustrating. At times he does stellar, at times he sucks. Oher is an all pro on the right. LT is a need simply bc we might have the best OLINE in the NFL with

Great LT Osemele Gino Yanda Oher
And the depth
Reid
Harewood
Williams (for now)
Mckinnie(for now)
is pretty damn good.

Interior dlinemen? Cody is fine. We don't play him, for reason's entirely unknown to me, but he's leagues better then Kemo. He's not much of a pass rusher, but I wouldn't expect him to anyway. He's a huge run-stuffing NT, and shouldn't be in on obvious passing downs. We have needs at Safety and ILB. LG is a far weaker position for us right now then LT. Oher isn't fantastic but he's been pretty solid this season, good enough to earn a second chance. There certainly aren't any other options available. You said use FA, so who is your FA option? Limited in cap space as well.

The Cardinals don't have issues because they lack a franchise LT, they have issues because they need to rework their entire oline, as well as find a suitable quarterback. Our oline compared to theirs is night and day.

Birk is one of the league's best pass-blocking centers (he might actually be the best). He's nothing notable in run blocking.

On Oher, yes.
False on all accounts. If we find a franchise LT, we can move oher to RT and KO to LG. Kill two birds with one stone (cap hit).

With respect to Cody, I've never seen a bigger man look so light, he gets blown off the line, most of the time our LB's have to dodge his body flying past them in order to find the ball carrier.

Birk's not bad but he needs to be replaced, he's not #1 at anything don't fool yourself.

Reid needs to be at RT and Osemele at LG. They're playing each other's positions. But it's too late in the season to change. Next year we need Oher-Osemele-Gradkowski-Yanda-Reid. Also need to give Harewood a chance at LT as well, where he played during preseason.

Lt-Oher LG-Osmele C-Gradkowski RG-Yanda RT-Ried

that's my guess for the future. With the draft picks going elsewhere.

I considered making a topic just for the offensive line, but I think he really stood out yesterday against a good Bengals defensive line. He allowed very little pressure and I don't remember seeing him get blown off the ball like Birk. Perhaps he doesn't have the football iq yet, but I feel comfortable using him next year and replacing Birk.
I agree wholeheartedly with what you write. I think he held up admirably against Geno Atkins who I think is the best interior lineman in the league right now! He completely shut him down and that tells me we should consider playing him in the playoffs...

Seriously can we just start this guy in the playoffs? Or at least against Indy? Please?

Against NE or DEN I think we have to, otherwise Wolfe and Wilfork are gonna kill us

I'm not sure how Gino would do against Wilfork. But, I guess he can't do much worse than Birk did last year.

Yeah, I guess I'd like to see him against Denver too.

He's going to start next year. I still don't know why we signed Birk to a 3 year deal, that made zero sense.

I would cry. Jah Reid is subpar despite the hype. I didn't see anything good from him against the Bengals. Oher switching to RT is the best thing that could happen because he is a pretty solid RT while Osemele would excel at LG. The missing piece is the LT. You bring in one guy and you improve three positions. That's what I like about the offensive line.

Should Boldin workout a new deal we could have around 26 mil in cap space to work with which isn't a lot considering we need to sign Flacco among other crucial guys. Hopefully a solid LT will be available in free agency who doesn't cost much.

That holding penalty was bull!

Yeah thats was truly a bad call. Watching the replay after the call, what the ref was looking at.

Terrence Cody? Fine? Ha. So I guess a good NT gets blown back by centers that weigh 50 pounds less? Okeedokee!
Sure you're not thinking of Kemo? Cody hasn't started most of the season, you're probably looking at the wrong NT to be perfectly honest. Kemoeatu has been. Look at their run stop %'s:

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/11/29/sig-stats-snapshot-run-stop-percentage-dts/

Rank Name Team Run Snaps Stops Stop %
6 Terrence Cody BLT 137 14
10.2
74 Ma'ake Kemoeatu BLT 171 5 2.9

Birk has been one of the league's best pass-blocking centers over the past few years. He was arguably the best center in the league as recently as 2010. He's not been as good this year, I'll give you that, but his pass protection is still among the best.

Yeah. That totally happens.

We're not going to find someone better than Oher for a reasonable amount of money. He's serviceable.

Much more realistically we can try to draft an RT.

Dude...Gino will get whooped vs. Wilfork.

He has no body, weight or power.

Gino still has long ways to go before he becomes a starter.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't beat Birk on next year's preseason/regular season.

He'll be the starter next year. Simply based on the money we'll save by letting Birk go/retire and that Birk's play is nothing special and at times pretty poor.

Nostradamus...lol

Smeone shouldve listened to me about gino!

You're pretty hard to believe when you've been wrong about most everything else. :P

As frustrated as I am with Gino, I don't think his story his over. He's had a lot of good plays and a lot of bad plays. We'll see how he grows. At least let the season finish before you claim to be some sort of genius.

What have i been so wrong about?

Billy cundiff shouldve been cut before playoffs @ 2011? Joe flacco not being worth top 5 money? Gino Gradkowski stinking it up? Not forcing Matt Birk retirment? Tandon Doss never being Q's replacement? Juan Castillo being a bad hire and only hired b/c his harbaugh's bff?

Do tell....hmm..
