Any OC Candidates from Black Monday Fallout?

130 posts in this topic

I like what Caldwell's done don't get me wrong this offence is a breathe of fresh air compared to the circus cam was running; however, I'd like to bring in a new PROVEN offensive co-ordinator. I want to see what Joe can do when someone who's proven to be an offensive mastermind like Norv takes the reigns or gives the reigns to Joe (whatever). I don't want to fool around with Caldwell for 3 years and either find out he does a good job or doesn't. We need a good OC, Norv wants to be an OC, and doesn't desire another HC position so I think its a match made in heaven.

So Ken was supposed to do better when he had to play 4 QB's with the worst oline in the league all year?
It was up to him to improve his offense. A coach must make the most of the players he's got. He couldn't improve his QBs or O-line one iota and you think he has the pedagogy to be an OC elsewhere?

Norv would certainly be better than Wisenhunt! :P

If BAL goes deep into the playoffs, I think you'd have no choice but to hold onto Caldwell, especially given his condensed season. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Caldwell can stay as OC and Zorn can come back as the QB Coach again. This time he doesn't have an ego maniac like Cam that can politic his way to keeping his job.

Ken Wisenhunt?! Arizona's offense was the laughingstock of the league! Even the Jaguars scored a lot more, with an older QB I might add and without a superstar WR like Fitzgerald. Their offensive line was enough to make Jonathan Ogden vomit.
Just because he did not do well in Arizona does not mean he is a poor coordinator. He was a HC, and it is proven than some coordinators do not transition well to HC. Pagano's defense isn't exactly the best.

Having a bad OL and poor QBs don't translate well for any OC.

He might be available! The Chiefs are going to clean house after going 2-14. He'll probably be the 1st to go, what with the horrible job he did with Cassel and Quinn.
Hard to coach them when they are horrible to begin with. Lol

I know Schwartz started off as a DC, but he's led one of the most electrifying passing attacks in the league! A far better offensive mind than defensive. And Kevin Gilbride might very well be available come Monday, given the Giants' gigantic regression after winning the Super Bowl just a year ago. Even Manning got way worse.
We do NOT want Gilbride. My best friend is a hardcore Giants fan. All the fans on their forum call him Kevin Killdrive. Horrible playcalling. If you thought Cam was bad, you don't wanna see Gilbride. Screens on 3rd and long, Goes away from the run faster than Cam did, etc.

Zorn, anyone?
As OC, maybe not, but I wouldn't mind sticking with Caldwell as OC and hiring Zorn to be Joe's QB coach. Caldwell would design the schemes, but Zorn really had Joe thinking about footwork and pocket presence in 2010, and had him moving around in the pocket more than any time except his rookie season. And I don't believe either Zorn or Caldwell would have a problem working with the other.

Zorn would make for a good replacement as QB coach.

Potential OC/QB coach Candidates in my mind - Jim Zorn, Hue Jackson, Joe Lombardi, Tom Moore. There are probably several others that would be great choices as well.

Hue Jackson?! He drove the Raiders into the ground! Even Tom Cable would be better, at least he understands offensive lines!

Whisenhut would make a good OC. I think we should keep Pees.
What makes you think Whisenhunt would do any better in BAL than AZ, where he oversaw one of the worst offenses of the decade?

Getting a little annoyed by the Whisenhunt nostalgia. He went to the Super Bowl because he had one of the best QB-WR tandems in the millenium. I don't want to hear about his Super Bowl win with Bill Cowher. They mostly won because of their defense, a fluke pass TD from Randel-El and horrible officiating.

totally agreed, I want someone who is really possessed with mastermind of offense like Sean Payton or something, but that's little too much to ask for the future HOF coach lol.....

Yes, they were bad HC's, but that has little to do with being a coordinator. Norv Turner is garbage as a HC, but is one of the best OC's (No, i don't want him. I'm just mentioning him as an example). So i don't know why you keep mentioning them and how they did as HC's.

Do you not realize what Jackson had to work with in Oakland and what Whisenhunt had to work with in Arizona? Jackson had Jason Campbell and then he got injured and they traded for a (at the time) retired QB in Carson Palmer. Whisenhunt had John Skelton and Kevin Kolb. So basically nothing for him.

Bad QB situation + crap Oline+ no run game bc of injuries= sucky offense.
If Arizona had a good QB, they would be SB contenders

If they could resurrect Kurt Warner and get a good complement receiver for the aging Fitzgerald, possibly.. They're in the most balanced division in the NFC. Even STL is great in divisional play, going 4-1-1.

The fact that we have a decent qb and offensive line come to mind

On another note, any word on Zorn if he has any interest in returning now that Cam is gone?

We'll have to wait and see. He's certainly not going to be invited here if the Ravens end up going to the Super Bowl.

What offensive line, qb or running backs did he have to work with? If Flacco is as great as you all claim with Whisenhutt we should have a potent offense. And how many points did Payton hang on us when he was with the Giants in that Super Bowl? I'll wait...
