At least 8 of the top 10 teams on that list could use a QB. Then 4 out of the teams from 11-20 could use a very good back-up QB or a QB who could eventually replace their QB. Obviously not all of those teams will take a QB and some will adopt a Bengals or Seahawks approach to drafting a QB, but regardless: teams will take chances in this draft. Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson, Tyler Bray, Landry Jones, & Tajh Boyd are all QBs who I believe will go between the first two rounds, regardless of a weak class. The reason is simple: more teams need QBs than last year. Last year's free agency had Peyton Manning, as well as Matt Flynn who really got things hot. I'm sure Vick becomes a free agent, but outside of him there's no real top QB unless some more guys lose their jobs, and I don't see any top talent losing their job. Joe Flacco is the top choice at free agency in a QB, which we most likely tag or work out a deal before the deadline.
I think this bodes well for the Ravens. Some of those teams that don't need QBs need WRs or OL (unfortunately). They will most likely take those types of players. Also, CBs are very valuable in addition to pass rushers. We have an abundance of CBs, and I am not worried about Webb's recovery. Yes, he has had two surgeries but it is difficult to tear a repaired ACL due to the structure of the repaired ligament. He also did it once, so I believe he can do it again. Williams will walk in free agency.
I also don't think our pass rushers are that bad. We've been snake-bit with our pass-rush. Suggs had a torn Achilles then biceps. McAdoo, who looked promising, tore his Achilles. Then Kruger gets injured and now starts to come around. I like Kruger and would take him over Williams, but if we do go on to the Super Bowl and especially if we win, we will be unable to retain Kruger. But I don't think that's necessarily terrible. I feel like we have some good pass rushers in Suggs, McAdoo, & Hamilton from what we've seen so far. Yes, it does leave us thin and no, we should not ignore the position but I don't think we should be desperate.
So, I feel like this is a well-tailored draft for our needs compared to that of our competition.
