Kirk Cousins
Matt Flynn
Michel Vick
Tim Tebow

In this topsy-turvy year at the QB position, many teams will be searching for a new field general in the off-season. Judging by the lack of QB talent available in the 2013 draft, many front offices will have to cull the league for a QB instead. Above are listed the 5 most high-profile back-up QBs of the season. Below are some other notable back-up QBs that have some proven NFL experience or high potential.

Mat Moore
Kyle Orton
Shaun Hill
Seneca Wallace
Terelle Pryor

Who would you pick if you were the GM of, say, the Jets or Cardinals?

Alex Smith -- Arizona
Kirk Cousins -- staying put
Matt Flynn -- staying put
Michael Vick -- staying put, only because I don't see anyone willing to take him... maybe NYJ? Doubt it though.
Tim Tebow -- Jacksonville

I doubt SF would trade their hot back-up QB to a division opponent who's main missing piece is a QB, in addition to an offensive line which they'll likely remedy in the draft.

Add in Ryan Mallet to the discussion. The rumor is the Browns may bring in NFL Network's Michael Lombardi who would then bring Josh McDaniels to Cleveland as Head Coach and their first move would be to trade for Ryan Mallett. If Cleveland is considering Mallett over the list of backups that could be available, they would be idiots.

Josh McDaniels! Ugh, I just read a retrospective on him an hour ago. Pretty stomach-turning stuff. And Ryan Mallet did pretty well as a Razorback. We haven't seen him in action on the pro-level, so he'd be a dice roll, but no more so than anyone the Browns could draft.

As a Bills Fan I would take any of these guys over Fitzpatrick. But if I was Buddy Nix and had to pick one I would absolutely go with Alex Smith. He has proven that he is good enough to lead a team to the super bowl. (If it wasn't for Kyle Williams inability to field a punt) Alex Smith is no Tom Brady or Peyton Manning but he is good enough to get W's. Vick is too injury prone, Flynn and Cousins hasn't had enough game experience to truly evaluate. Alex Smith all day

It's official. The new Jaguars GM, David Caldwell, announced that the franchise will NOT hire Tim Tebow for the next season. This leaves the glitz&glam QB available for several other teams with serious QB deficits, such as the Cardinals and Chiefs.

For starting, Tebow.

For pure back up, Smith.

Why, don't do you think Smith is much more reliable than Tebow?

I'm one of the lone believers in Tebow lol.

Tebow sucks as a backup because he's not a traditional offense styed QB. But if he can play his style, in his offense, I think he would be a semi successful QB. (Jets would be perfect fit 2 years ago).

Smith in my eyes would be a perfect backup. Can manage the game and play any offense. Ever since Harbaughs been there he's looked good, but I don't believe in his starter ability. He would look like Sanchez if he didn't have that oline and run game.

Flynn he would cost you the least and his upside is just as good as Cousins, who would be significantly more expensive.

Hey, it's the not the first time this will happen (i.e. trading a QB within the division); after all, the Patriots managed to trade Drew Bledsoe to the Bills. If the 49ers get a good deal from the Cardinals, like a 2nd-round pick, next year, and a 3rd-round pick, this year, the trade will happen.

NO!!!!! It's only right if Ryan Mallet and Josh McDaniels replace "those two" at the place they call The Razor...

Good point! Flynn has a lot of potential, too. I feel that Cousins can't go much higher than he already is.
