For us geeks; the comics thread

At least I'm not the only one that thinks this.  It seemed like comic book people were excited about his appearance.

I say kill off Pepper Potts in The Avengers 2 and have Iron Man deal with that in phase 3.  I doubt Disney kills off a cash cow like that.  It's the figurehead franchise of their entire Avengers saga, the other heroes don't even come close.  Besides, no one likes Gwyneth Paltrow.

I just wish they could snag Hugh Jackman's Wolverine for the next film.  I like his portrayal of the character, although the scripts have let him down a few times.

If RDJ decides not to re-up, they won't have a cash cow anymore.

He'll talk about leaving all he wants, but they'll throw money at him to get him to re-up.  Disney has the cash and I think Iron Man is of vital importance to the success of all their Marvel movies.  He's already making a crap ton with that revenue sharing he negotiated into his last deal.

I just saw the latest TV spot for Man Of Steel and I've got to say, the more trailers I keep seeing the more I want to see this movie.  The casting department really went all out, but I'm being cautious of that.  It didn't work for The Expendables, so we'll see what this turns out like.

Russel Crowe, Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Meloni, Kevin Costner... I would've never thought of Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent.  Russel Crow as Jor-El.  Nolan and/or his casting people have a knack for finding great and unlikely candidates to play roles.

I may have to get ready for a night out at the movies... yeah, I said it.

ABC is pretty good about getting their stuff on Hulu.

I'm interested to see how the show turns out.  I'm a big time Whedon fan, Firefly is my favorite show of all time.  I doubt he has too much involvement past the pilot though.  It's too bad HIMYM wasn't cancelled this season, Cobie Smulders wouldn't have to look for another job.

Looks interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if they incorporated Cage, along with other heroes that might be less "marketable", in this show.

Should my fangirl heart dare to hope they sneak in my other favorite Hero for Hire? :)

We'll see.

I just read that the film rights for Power Man are back with Marvel Studios. Even if Cage doesn't get his own movie in Phase 3, we should see him in Iron Fist's flick. *Thumbs up*

Power Man. Blade. Ghost Rider. Punisher. Daredevil. All back in the Marvel fold.

And they could all use a reboot! :)

Full agreed.

Just out of curiosity, what are your opinions on the Snipes/Blade trilogy?

Honestly has been so long, I would have to watch them again. Only then could I get my nerdgirlfangeek rage out, if necessary. :)

Guess its about time I contributed to this thread and give it a needed bump. So hear me out here...I don't think I read a single Marvel or DC comic when I was a kid...but cartoons gave me enough of an introduction to make me hunger to know more about their comic bases. As a result I am well versed in a lot of the comic storylines for Marvel (as others have said and its an opinion I share, never was anle to get into most of the DC subjects excluding Batman) and continue to keep up with some ofthese comic storylines to this day. If my Playstation network ID in my signature is any indication, Spider-Man, his associated characters and his rogues gallery are among my favorites. Read some more casting notes fo r the second Amazing Spider-Man and its gotten me pretty excited (can't tell you enough how much better that reboot was than the Toby Maguire trilogy, though I do love some Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin to this day). Apparently Jamie Foxx will be playing Electro/Max Dillon and the always underrated Paul Giamatti will suit up as the Rhino, I like both choices. Chris Cooper will be portraying Norman Osborn for what I must assume will lead to a Goblin-laden threequel. The only role I am familiar with Mr. Cooper off the top of my head is as Jason Bourne's handler in the Bourne Identity, but based solely on that performance I think he can do a very good job as Spidey's arguable arch-nemesis.

As far as Spidey in recent comic storylines (won't try to give away too many spoilers in case someone here isn't aware), but what do you all think of this new Spider-Man/Doctor Octopus Superior Spider-Man story? Pretty crazy to do that to those characters but should bring about some new insights into the mind of Otto Octavius.

Hai, Corvus. I have to admit that I am not much of a Spidey fan, so my contribution to your discussion isn't going to amount to much.

But here's a thought I've had in my head all day:

Vibranium vs. Uru metal. Discuss.

:D

Uru is harder than adamantium.

But Vibranium can't be broken by anything but itself...

That's hard

Agh, you're breaking my dark little goblin heart! Hahaha :)

As to your question, nothing "factual" to back it up but my initial thought is that Uru is stronger simply because it hails from a "semi-mythic" realm and vibranium can be found on regular old Earth. Thougb I think its implied at some point that the Wakandan vibranium is meteoric in origin so it could be from an Asgard like realm too. Never really thought of it before.

From what I understand, the CW is working on a new pilot to revive Wonder Woman.

I just hope it turns out better than what NBC got two years ago, and we get a new series, although I have to admit, whoever gets the part has huge boots, and re/white/blue satin tights to fill, what with Lynda Carter still memorable.

Is it just me or is Guardians of the Galaxy probably the least known Marvel franchise? I hardly know anything about it myself and had no idea they were pursuing a live-action movie until I read your update here. I almost forgot they even existed until they made an appearance on the new Avengers cartoon I've been watching on Netflix.

I would give that title to The Inhumans...and I heard a whispered rumor that they may be considering an Inhumans movie for Phase 3 or beyond. I personally would love to see Black Bolt come to life.

Oh and more happy news.. RDJ has agreed to play Iron Man in the next two Avengers movies.  :wootwoot:

I personally think this is the death knell for more stand-alone Iron Man films, unless they can persuade him otherwise. With RDJ committed to The Avengers, a recast for anything else would be damned stupid. Whatever happens from here on out, my fangirl heart can keep beating happy. :D
