If Pierce didn't have a long injury history I would have more faith in him, we need to ride Rice out for the 3-4 years he has left.

They could make most of the recipient team eat most of the contract.

It's not like baseball. Teams don't absorb contracts in that manner.

The base salary is taken over by the new team. The bonus, or the guaranteed money, is paid by the Ravens

[/quote]the bonus has already been paid and for cap purposes it was spread out over the life of the deal. When he's traded we eat it all as dead money. To put it simply.

Quoted the wrong person

I would keep Rice on the bench for most of this game and let Pierce and Allen carry the load. We will surely need them come playoff time. I really like stockpiling decent running backs. It is the position that has one of the shortest career lengths. Pierce is starting to shine, but it's good that he was rested quite a bit early on. Rice will be happy that he was also not overworked this season. When the opponents keyed on Rice in the playoffs last year, then it opened an opportunity for Williams to come in and gain a few yards do to style contrasts. Pierce can do the same thing. They need to get the ball into his hands on a short pass or two to prepare him for that check-down clutch catch that Flacco likes to throw.

You have to assume that since they are resting Rice, if Flacco and starters play, it won't be for the whole game. (i know they cant rest all starters)

Yes, he missed quite a bit of time in college due to injuries. He wouldn't have to take as much of pounding in a committee though.

I'm pretty sure Pierce only missed 4 or 5 games in 3 seasons at Temple. And even in his "down year" where he missed multiple games he still had 700+ yards at over 4,5 YPC with 10 TDs. Not sure I would quantify that as missing quite a lot of time.

Flaccopoe, my friend, as others have said Pierce will not be going anywhere seeing as he is just finishing up his FIRST season, and I think we would be absolutely remiss to trade him this soon either, we are going to need his tough running for years to come.

Excited to see how BP looks in his first start today.

Bad idea to bench Moreno and start Pierce in fantasy with this news? Since Moreno may get some rest too?
