Just a microcosm of how good Pierce has been, according to the guys at PFF:

I'd definitely be a little nervous if I was Rice!

Does Pierce have an injury history? Because honestly the big value of rice is his durability.

Yes, he missed quite a bit of time in college due to injuries. He wouldn't have to take as much of pounding in a committee though.

Bobby Rainey and Bernard Pierce and one other draft pick would probably do it.

I've heard from some people on the House Cleaning Thread that he might be cut to save money. Leach too, as BAL is riding Rice out for the long term.
He's on a 3rd round rookie contract right now. You literally can't get anyone else cheaper unless its an UDFA. You dont cut guys on rookie contracts to save money unless you have mental issues.

We did extremely well in the off season. PIerce is a great backup to Rice and might even become a starter somewhere else, KO will have a spot on the OLine in the future, Upshaw established himself as a good replacement for JJ and Justin Tucker is a clutch kicker. There is a lot to like about the way the young guys are stepping up.

Well, IF people are saying a rookie (who is very successful at what he does) is going to be CUT to save probably around $7, they are about as clueless as they come and should have their login rights revoked.

YOu think BAL might trade him though, while he's hot? BAL did something similar with McGahee and now he lights it up in DEN, when he's healthy.

Running backs don't last long in the league, shortest average among offense positions. We're lucky we've had Rice for as many years as we've had. His recent contract, that was his bread & butter... next one, he'll be lucky to even see.

Pierce on the other hand, he'll be ready to cash in on his second contract just as Rice is ready to retire his legs.

Pierce isn't going anywhere.

Reports were that Pierce would have been a Top 15 pick in the 2013 draft had he stayed another year. He's a beast.

Didn't they say the same thing bout Streeter? Oz is a genius

Running the way he runs, no chance he leaves Baltimore if he keeps this up! Also, wasnt McGahee released? Come on flaccopoe! ;)

Love the idea of having two awesome RBs to switch off.

We still need lots of options on the offense.
Scoring points wins games. As long as these two can get holes, we will gain serious yardage.
let's work on the O-line to get them and Joe what they need.

Nah, Streeter may have first round pick at best but not at the U. Not with their QB play and coaching.
if they were trying anyone it would be rice. Pierce will be signed long term to replace rice, otherwise we wouldn't have drafted him.

He was put on IR when we signed Chris Johnson.

It isn't really IR though. They just wanted to hold him down on the roster.

I hope Pierce's presence ignites some competitive flair in Rice, who's having a pretty tame season, by his exceptional standards. Ozzie's a hustler, so he might look to wheel and deal the multi-million dollar back if Pierce continues to post similar/superior performances in BAL's backfield.

Oh really? I thought Ozzie was going to cut Pierce...or was he going to trade Pierce. I forget.

Rice wont be traded...at least not until he has played out most of his contract. Too much dead money to trade him now.

I wouldn't be so confident about that, if Pierce can maintain his stellar performances. There are plenty of teams with deep pockets that would love to have him. That being said, Pierce will probably fall back to Earth, making it a non-issue.

The Ravens get hit by dead money by trading Rice. It's not as simple as just moving his salary.

They could make most of the recipient team eat most of the contract.

Rice aint going no where.
You are crazy to think he is.

WAY, too valuable a player.
I would not want him on an opposing team.

Just hypothesizing. Expect Pierce to cool down and Rice to heat up again soon.
