Sliding backwards sucks. And downhill... just keep your foot off the accelerator until you hit the bottom of the hill. 
I made it home okay. Spun going up Washington Street but that was my fault for starting up the hill too fast. And to get down my street, I put the car in low gear, basically tap-rode the brakes the whole way down the hill...
and then somehow slid into my parking space in front of the house.
But my friend and coworker Jackie gave me a great idea for uphill avoidance a few minutes ago. I hadn't thought of going home that way before she mentioned it.
