Your house has been buried in 12 ft of snow?! How do you survive?!

Lol, all we got today was tornado warnings all around and ALOT of rain! Lord have mercy, we get an inch on the ground here in NC and they close the schools, lol. Ya know we Southerners and snow don't mix very well, lol.

Ain't that the truth? I love going to YouTube and watching those Texans on the highway with the snowfall. You see eight cars all piled up on the side of the road... sure enough, the next idiot doesn't slow down and falls right in with them. *LOL*

Today, my son looked outside this morning and said, "My snow is coming down! My snow is coming down! God heard me, Mama! He sent my snow!" :) It's exciting to see how he enjoys the change of weather.

@FlaccoPoe: Nice pics. I wish I had some scanned in to share. I've got one with my door open and all you see is the big wall of snow. I've got my gloves on, ready to dig and dump snow down the sink drain.

You should've videotaped that, so when he gets older and starts talking about hating snow... ;) ...Yeah, I loved snow up until I was about sixteen-years-old... and then... not so much. I don't mind it now though. It's so common.

Okay, I just gotta ask, how do you get out of that??? Obviously, leaving in a warm climate I've never experienced anything like that. Doesn't it cave in on ya, and what do you do with it as ya are diggin' out? If I couldn't get out of my door, I swear I would start to panic!

Oh, he loves snow. When we go up to visit in-laws in Ohio, he begs for it to be snowing when we get there. It can be in the middle of summer, but he still asks if there will be snow on the ground. We didn't really have to "sell" moving up here to Maryland with the boys, especially since they're 4 and 1, but when we told our oldest that there would be snow, he wanted to leave that very day. When we got up here in July, he actually was angry with us because the first thing he wanted to see was snow. When he realized he had to wait for it, he honestly wanted to just move back to Florida because he thought we lied to him. :D

Lay down blankets and towels by the door to the nearest sink... start taking handfuls of snow and dumping them in. You want to dig upward. Once you've got a window to the sky, then it's just as simple as climbing your way up and out. Just don't take too large of steps or you can fall straight to the bottom and that's not fun.

Nope. I wouldn't be here if it had. :)

I looked out the front door window and see that a plow truck came down our street.....shoveling that glacier away from the car is going to SUCK! At least it's not a very tall glacier, unlike Snowmageddon '10!

Wow... *blinkblink*

I have lost 35 pounds since August '11. Well I knew that actually but seeing it on my tracking app in bold orange numbers just kinda makes it hit home.

:D

Beautiful snowfall happening in VT right now. We should get at least a foot. Nice for the ski areas this week. Not so fun driving home from Annapolis yesterday and sliding on 287 in NJ and the NY thruway. And we thought we would beat the storm by leaving yesterday - ha!

People can barely drive when the pavement is clear & dry... Now, put ice & snow out there, couple that with texting while driving... just asking for trouble.

My biggest fear is one of these days, I'm going to be sitting in the house and someone is going to come flying down our street and t-bone my car (sits perpendicular to the flow of traffic).

Like I tell my kids, "Just remember, while you're driving; everyone on the road but you is a moron."

I am SO impressed with Greensburg's snow removal...not. I had one little slide on the way home from work this morning..tapped the brakes too hard at a stop light. Fortunately I wasn't going very fast.

More coming tonight.....it's supposed to start after midnight...so I should be ok getting home from work. *crossing fingers*

my wife is from the Boston area. She laughs at this area when it "snows".

Her first winter here they had a school closing, she thought something had gone horribly wrong.
I explained to her it was because of the snow she looked at me like I had three heads.

They are pretty hard core up there in the Boston area.

I work with a couple people from Buffalo. They're amazed the way people panic in PA.

I hate that already.....seriously....and to get to my house I have to go up a hill and then down one...

Two to four inches they're saying. I just pray fervently that I can get home safely after work tomorrow morning. *sigh*

Read that again...up one hill and down the other....my house sits near the bottom of a hill. Nice in the summer since we don't have to worry about a whole lot of storm flooding but in winter the suckitude is immense.

I'm praying again that it holds off again....might not get so lucky this time. *sigh* I hate the fact that I have to drive 18 miles back and forth to work. If I had a job in town, I wouldn't freak out so much.

I'm sure 74 will be fine. If I get stuck anywhere will be in stinkin' Greensburg, no doubt.

I feel intense loathing growing. Very intense loathing.

Only 1 foot here. Up-state New Yorkers don't care.
Fixed. In NYC, we've gotten only 2 or 3 blizzards in the past 4 years. It's only snowed twice this year and only stuck once. :(
