Without Jameel, we absolutely need Ellerbe to bring his A-game, I'm glad he's stepped up. 4.5 sacks for an ILB who's only started something like 8 games? That's serious business.

Good thing Ellerbe's back. Hopefully he'll get healthier by resting next week and allowing himself a little time to heal those thumbs of his. I like watching him play as he is the better linebacker other than McClain.

No such thing as another Ray Lewis. His career has been a confluence of forces that will likely never again be seen in the NFL.

Another one of those diamonds in the rough that our talented coaching staff acquired. Hopefully he's the first of many guys getting healthy at the right time of the year, playoffs.

Our D needs to draft pass rushing LB and Safety. These two should be our top position priorities in addition to as always hoping for that No.1 WR if we can ever find it..

I think as of now we are pretty good at MLBs with Mcclain, Ellerbe, Bynes, Ayanbandajeo. We are good at DBs with Webb, Carrie, Smth, Brown, Graham as well. Ofcourse on DT is the best in NFL!!

On Offensive side We need WR(as Boldin is counting his last 1-2 yr in NFL), Oline as we need someone at LG and LT

Thanks for the early Christmas present Ravens. Keep bringing those presents post New year's. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's to all. Let us always keep the less fortunate in mind, esp. the survivors in Newton Conn. whose Christmas's will never be the same again.

Baltimore's front office sure know how to scout for linebackers! Ellerbe has played his heart out in Lewis' steed, with 86 tackles in just 8 starts. The ILB position will be in good hands even after Ray Lewis passes the helm!
Who cares if the sack didn't count, Ellerbe totally delivered last night!!
Manning still got rocked, whether the play counted or not!

I think our top priorities in the draft need to be DT. We need somebody beside Ngata that can be a run stuffer. We don't need a pass rushing LB, Kruger is good, Suggs is one of the best when healthy, and Upshaw is really good against the run. Our front 7, especially the interior, has been pushed around all season. Most of the runs broke on us have been straight up the gut. Inside backers can't do anything when they are getting blocked by lineman 3 or 4 yards from the line of scrimmage. Cody isn't doing anything. We need a good DT that can eat up space but also shed blocks and make plays.

We need to resign Ellerbe, then our MLB core will be set. Secondary is okay.....if we get a pass rush then that helps a lottttt.

Offensively, i think we are actually okay skill position wise. We have a number one with Torrey Smith, and Anquan is still a numbe one. I think we need a slot guy, like Amendola, or drafting a tavon austin. Our biggest need, out of both sides of the ball, is an offensive lineman. Either a LT, or LG

With Ray Lewis career coming to an end more sooner then later, It's inevitable that we find some way to re sign Ellerbe he's one of our own & very deserving . . .

Go Ravens !!

I'd say Ellerbe's been perhaps the most underappreciated Raven. I think his absence did indeed play a major role in our losing streak - especially in our losses to PIT and WAS as their TEs were killing us in the middle of the field.

I also think Yanda's absence played a huge role in our beat down to Denver. We don't run the ball well when he's out and our entire offense is predicated on our ability to run.

When does Ellerbe's contract expire?
He'll be an unrestricted free agent. He was restricted last year and we tendered him a 2nd rounder and therefore paid him a 1 year deal in the neighborhood of 2M.

There is no talk about it, Ellerbe has to be signed his great and it will be alot harder to find a successor for Lewis if the guy can't be Ellerbe.

I always Liked Ellerbe, Ever since he went on HARBS. [bad side] when he rolled into the end zone after a fumble recovery in the Preseason 2 yrs ago. Harbs. you dummy , this guy can/could ball but you are just too dam stubborn.

Lets worry about Winning and not our Pride, Us RAVENS fans deserve it ( SUPERBOWL win) After getting so close every yr. Always a Bridesmaid never a Bride.

Do the same thing as with Mclain ... Ray lewis is gonna retire.... we are gonna need ILBs when ray retires.... And if he doesn't retire he'll be 38... Reed might come back....

The guy who impressed me was James Ihedibo. He was getting the backfeild all day and he's a safety. Ed Reed will most likely leave after this year and I have no problem playing Ihedibo at FS

Not to take away from the staff but there's just been too many defensive coaching regime changes to give them full credit for the outstanding defensive play over the past decade. I do however give much of it to Ozzie, the man sure knows how to pick em! The majority however has to go to the one constant after all these years....The General, Ray Lewis! The man is an inspiration to all, a motivator, a mentor, even a cheerleader when he has to be, but most of all a leader! And like most leaders he's going to want to see his legacy live on long after he hangs up his cleats. Which is why I have the utmost faith in his lieutenants whomever his successor may be...Suggs, Ellerbe, McClain, Krugar, Upshaw, ect.... To Ozzie...I know you aint gettiin any younger either, so before you head to the golf course full-time, PLEASE, PLEASE sign Ray on as a linebacker coach (who knows from there) and ensure your legacy will live on as well! .....yeh, yeh, kinda cheesy I know lol....but heartfelt.

Ellerbe to me is a flat out stud! I think he may be our best LB in our entire corps! With all due respect to Ray Lewis of course and the fact that he has been out for the last several weeks. I cannot imagine how good Ellerbe is going to be in a year or so! Scary good is my prediction!

the defense is starting to find its niche on sunday even though its one game but its a step forward..its all about pressure if the front 4 or front seven can create pressure on the QB, the CB's and safety can play great that what happned

i think next season we should have Omar Brown and Chykie Brown startinb at Cb next to Webb.. Cary and Jimmy are both garbage no proper techniques always give up yrds and get flag for holding

look I like Dannell Ellerbe I really do but he reminds me of that other 'Beast',we had what was his name ahh,Gibson no....Goodson,no that's not it either...Oh yeah! Gooden I think that's it,remember him he didn't seem capable of staying on the field it was on injury after another,so if Ellerbe can stay on the field, great;if not we're just going to have to be satisfied when he is on the field ,as the saying goes 'What are you going to do,you dance with who you bring to the party'

@Gucci1017 First off Omar Brown is a safety and Cary has improved by leaps and bounds. Jimmy has only been here for two seasons which most of the time he's been injured. You can't really call the guy garbage. o.O

I find it hard to take anyone seriously that posts on here that cant even write at the 4th grade level. I mean seriously, If you have to read the same sentence 4 times to understand it, it is ridiculous at best. Seriously now...

Completely different IMO. I don't recall Gooden making any "big" plays the entire time he was on the field in Baltimore. Meanwhile, in Dannell's 3rd start of his undrafted rookie season, he intercepted Oakland late in the '09 season finale to seal the win, he and McGahee were pretty much the only reasons we even got in the playoffs that year because we had to win that game to get in.

He has been pretty impressive all season this year as well after being in the "doghouse" or so it seemed last year. He has been banged up this year and some in the past, but the dude was playing with casts on histwo broken thumbs earlier in the season (I remember him dropping a surefire INT because of it, haha), he is tough and has shown if he can play through injuries, he will. I can't say I ever felt that way about Gooden.

Ellerbe is a beast, and is currently our best Inside Linebacker. If I ranked the importance of players, especially when they are healthy, this is how it would go on Defense.

1. Suggs
2. Ngata
3. Webb
4. Ellerbe
5. Pollard
6. Reed
7. Ray
8. C. Graham
9. C. Williams
10. Kruger
11. Upshaw
12. J. Bynes
13. Art Jones
14. McPhee
15. Ihedigbo
15. T. Cody
