Chykie Brown

I love me some Chykie, hell I had us taking him in my mock draft last year before anyone knew his name, but to say that he has supplanted Jimmy is a bit overboard. If Jimmy continues to struggle to stay healthy, then we may have no choice, but other than that, Jimmy's talent and draft status will ensure that he gets every chance to establish himself.

Cary has been playing well for a while, of course he's one of the hated players around here, so people will highlight the one or two plays he gives up a game. Cary isn't lock down, but he's a quality CB.

I thought the Randal play could have been defensed. I haven't rewatched the game yet, but it looked like Cary just didn't locate the ball soon enough. The coverage was great, but because he didn't locate the ball soon enough, Randal was able to track it better. Eli just threw up a prayer.

However long term, I don't think Cary is with this team. He will command big money and his numbers, probable pro bowl, being a constant presence on a injury riddled defense and maybe a Super Bowl ring, will all lead to his agent asking for more then the Ravens are willing to pay.

People wonder why Ozzie drafted a CB in Asa Jackson, even the secondary seemed strong. It's because you can't pay all your talent big money. They tried to lock Cary up, but he played his cards well. Now you have guys like Brown, Graham, and Jackson who will pair with Jimmy and Webb.
randle is taller than Cary I think and it looked like he jumped 6 foot in the air, i don't think there was any way Cary could have broke that up at all from what I seen, I could be mis remembering.

Well Cary never got a chance to contest the pass because when Randal stopped, Cary's momentum pushed him about 2 yards past him. Again the coverage was great, Cary just misjudge the ball in the air. Now could Randle had caught if even if Cary contested, sure, but at least Cary would have had a chance.

Yea Chykie Brown balled out today. He is only in his second year as well, but showed a lot skills today against a pretty solid receiving core. Jimmies problem is from the neck up, He had one of the best combines a DB could have, but continues to make the same mistakes. Hopefully Jimmy can get it straighten out.

Yeah Chykie had a very good game he gave up that last TD when game was pretty much over ( but I liked how he was so upset with himself holding himself accountable )

He didn't look around like he expected safety help like so many CBs tend to do when they give up a play.

I'm not really sure why so many people are talking down on J.Smith however, it's great that Chykie played well and I hope he continues to improve and play well, but that's no reason to rag on jimmy.

I think since Smith was a 1st Round pick with " shutdown potential draft hype " people set expectations far too high. He's just a second round pick, he bits on too many double moves because he is too aggressively attempting to make a big play. And jimmy should play more press and get physical at the line.

I want jimmy Chykie and Asa all to develop and experience some level of success for this team with whatever their role may be in the future.

Chykie did a great job staying on his man and defending his zone. He did get beat a couple times but overall he played impressive against a one of the best WR groups in the NFL. I know nicks isn't 100% but the DBs collectively shut him down and the safeties and lbs did a great job helping with cruz underneath.

I'm glad Chykie is showing that he can at least cover. We are gonna need him to continue to step up for the rest of the year. With experience comes wisdom

Glad somebody a topic about him. Kid played out of his mind today and I liked how upset he was at himself for allowing Hixon to score that late TD.

I liked that as well. He wasn't mad at any other player but himself. Seems like the type of man that will go to the film room, find out what he did wrong, and work to prevent it from happening again.

Players like Chykie renew my confidence in Oz, who at times gets some criticism when he isn't involved in big trades involving draft picks. 5th rounder, now a starter. Dude knows what he's doing

depth depth depth, regardless whose number called; if you perform well and take advantage of the given opportunity, you will be on this team for a long time.

When Webb is back, he'll lead these beast CBs to a Neverland......

Ozzie said he would have been a first round draft pick if he hadn't broken his leg in college. Always been one of my favorites and glad when he made the team

I always thought Chykie had some nice potential due to his measurables and athleticism, the injury during his last year at Texas really hurt his stock. I'm glad he's been able to develop over the past couple of years.

No. Ozzie said Brown would have been a first round draft pick if he hadn't broken his leg in college in his point by point evaluation of each draft pick right after the draft. I doubt that comment was archived.
not once have I heard that or heard anyone else mention it.

Neither has he either obviously hence why he asked.

Hard to believe when one person says it. Another poster backing you up would help out a bit at least.

Many don't believe until they read it themselves here. I'd be in that camp unless three or four people are backing eachother up.

Exactly. That's why I explained. I was wrong about one thing. He broke his arm not his leg.

Chykie played well, but I think he was a little lucky on a couple plays too. I definitely wouldnt say he has supplanted Smith going forward. It's more likely Cary is on his way out though.

The big difference IMO was our pass-rush showing up big time. Similar to last season having a string pass-rush makes the corners job much easier.

Don't forget about Chykie. I think he'll prove his worth this year and, unless we draft a new corner with the 1st overall pick again, I think he'll move up in the ranks to our #3 next year.

Right again!
