What If...

What if, back when it was actually considered a possibility, we signed Vontaze Burfict? Remember him? I hate to ponder on what-ifs, but I also can't help but imagine what sort of impact he'd have on our currently-decimated LB corps.

he plays for the bengalsWe all know our team is completely obliterated by injuries right now... especially on defense. I mean, if Bynes is starting, something must not be right.

Showed up out of shape and failed the drug test, turning in terrible numbers at the combine.
We weren't about to touch him, and neither was anyone else. Had to beg the Bengals for a shot.
Glad to see he's turned it around, but Cincinnati tok a huge risk on him.

He was signed as an undrafted free agent; how was it a huge risk?
I was always high on Burfict (many times more than I should) and I still think we should have taken a shot at him in the 7th round or at least approach him when he went undrafted. It's a shame, behind Zeitler, he's easily been the most impactful rookie for the Bengals.

What if we took Rodgers instead of Mark Clayton?
What if Asomgua instead of Boller?
Or Jared Allen instead of Devard Darling?
Or Marshall instead of Williams?
Or Matthews instead of Oher?
Or Washington instead of Kindle.
A lot of what ifs in this world

I thought for sure that Eric Decosta said that the ravens had interest in him but the bengels got to him first.

Ugh that makes me cringe. I know they are what-ifs and no team picks perfectly but it always sucks to see.

I wish we would have taken Rodgers instead of Mark Clayton. Now that's a what-if. We may have even got to see the discount double check commercials without cheese on people's heads. There is a lot of what ifs we can do

We wouldn't have even needed to have drafted Oher. Rogers does just fine without an O-line as it is.

And would easily have a ring or two in the last 5 years!

You have no clue how much that pains me. Rodgers is my favorite QB ever. (After Joe. ;D)I wish we would have taken Rodgers instead of Mark Clayton. Now that's a what-if. We may have even got to see the discount double check commercials without cheese on people's heads.
Coulda also had Clay Matthews instead of Oher.

I'm still trying to find out how Ozzie didn't see Aaron Rodgers, a player that was supposed to go # 1 Overall as the Best Player Available at the time. Rodgers would have easily beat Boller out and became the starter much sooner than he did in Green Bay. It kills me sometimes knowing we could have had BOTH Rodgers and Matthews, and not the Green Bay Packers.

That would have been cool and all... if he would have actually came here and done well. But I don't think he will stay "straight" for long, and I think we are doing just fine with what we have.
Are we? Our decimated LB corps and mediocre replacements are the part of the reason we are staring down 9-7.
