Ngata, take the money and run (waddle)!

I agree he has routinely disappeared and been very block able. Think most of it is his knee injury, but agree completely. Wilfork makes olines look silly "when he does play" since someone said he doesn't play much due to a prolific offense. It's a shame how far our D has fallen. Time to pull a Belicheck and bring in fresh young talent.

I felt Ngata made a mistake last season by dropping to 325lbs. When he played the previous seasons around 340+ lbs . Even at 340 he had exceptional speed already and he was manhandling lineman on double teams and everything. Seemed like he lost weight and then became prone to injuries. Also since he lost the weight he has lined up at DE much more frequently. Rather than constantly moving across the line and manning the middle often too. Rather than take on blocks and make the play , he seems to be constantly running himself out of plays.

Ngata has battled through many injuries. Knee, shoulder , thigh. Also it doesn't help that Kemo isn't good at all and Cody has regressed, then everyone else is young player that can't shed blocks or pass rush.

Ngata was the most dominant DT in the league that was versatile enough to play DE/NT drop into coverage now he's playing DE as if he's a rush end. He needs to start playing like Justin Smith with leverage holding olineman and creating rush lanes for others at times constantly disrupting the run game too.

Look at that glorious defense play from last night. When the rest of our D is in sync, Ngata is too. You can't expect him to do all the work. Stop complaining.

No offense but what is your post or opinion even based on? Nothing but frustration. Typical for when you lose a game like that, people whine about just everything.

His numbers are basically the same from last season. Even without any help around him. He doesn't have Warren Sapp next to him, he's getting even more attention now after his strong season last year. So what exactly are you talking about? He had one assist vs the Broncos? He had 5 tackles the week before. What's your point? Stop whining, he doesn't play linebacker. The Broncos have a great O-Line, Peyton gets rid of the ball very quick. What do you want? Is this the best season he's had? I doubt it. But after 7 years straight of playing at an All Pro level and one season where basically everyone on defense is playing average to call him out like that is pretty absurd. Suddenly he's this lazy big guy who doesn't show up, sits on his butt all day and gained weight because he doesn't care about football or this team anymore. The good thing about losing is you get to see who the true fans are and the ones that are just bandwagoners. Why not open another topic and call out Ed Reed while you're at it. And the rest of the gang. Art Jones didn't have 2 sacks this week, he's terrible. Boo hoo. Go cry somewhere else

Thank You for this post.

It amazes me how folks are so quick to throw players under the bus when things aren't going well. Especially when they don't truly know what may be going on beyond the sight of the public eye.

Well, yes; Amazed and often disappointed in my fellow fans.

Either Ngata saw this thread and got motivated, or he was really hurt previously. I'm going with the later. I'm glad he's okay and I'm glad he's back!!!

Forget the idea Ngata at nose tackle anytime soon. He does kind of remind me of a Siragusa or Adams type of tackler. Maybe the Ravens need to change to a 4-3, too. It's true that he and Suggs command a big chunk of our salary cap. Let's just look at what he's done so far and project that to the future when he is fully healthy. I didn't see him slacking this season. He's a big guy who eats space and doesn't speed rush. By the way, Ngata had 3 tackles, 1 assist, and 1 sack yesterday. He has been playing with injuries for the past 2 seasons but still commands a lot of attention in the league. I'm pretty sure every team in the league would love to have him.

It's so quiet in here...

It won't be when he puts up another clunker! I sure hope he doesn't, but I'm not scared to say the truth. He had a good game.

Ngata, Suggs, Ellerbe, Pollard and Ray all coming back to play well over the next 2 weeks couls be huge. Now obviously most of those guys probably won't play next week, but that Colts game will be huge. You guy those guys playing well, combined with these younger guys flying around and this defense will be as close to Ravens like as we could hope.

I don't really like looking to far ahead, especially when you talk playoffs, because it's a win and in thing. However with that said, I don't think the Colts are ready for the Bank in the playoffs. Hopefully the Ravens play well and run them out the stadium. That next week I see the Ravens going to the Texans for a Divisional rematch. The Ravens get those players above healthy and the Texans will have their hands full.

I really like how the defense is coming together right now.

Rest Ngata this week and he'll be primed and ready to go for the playoffs. It's amazing what getting healthy can do for a player.

Well it's a multitude of things, moreso the losing streak and general struggles of the team, rather than an indictment on Ngata's actual ability. Though it was fair to question that given his lack of production

Right. Fair to question reasons for struggling and losing. Not fair to question a man's integrity based on suppositions, not facts.

i think so completely, maybe move kruger or ihedigbo to DE i think that would be perfect!

They tried with Kruger in 09 to do that, he couldn't keep enough weight on and he plays better when he has room to operate. Ihedigbo is like 210 pounds, he's a safety.

For the record, I dont think anyone was doubting Ngata's ability or suggesting he's a bum. If they were then they have some issues of their own. He's been hurt the better part of the entire year, sprained MCL for a 360 guy is no joke then add in a shoulder injury.

However I still stand by my idea to move him to NT to help shore up the middle of the field. He would arguably create less pressure on QBs because of his vicinity to Gs and the natural move of Gs to help Cs out with pass rushers, but that would create more 1 on 1 match-ups on the edges in the pass rush. You would also be able to move him around on 3rd downs. I just think right now we need a dominating presence directly in the middle of the field because too many of our guys get caught in the wash and stuck on blocks. Ray can't slip or power through blocks anymore and that was a large part of hte problem with the rush D early in the year, the middle of the Dline.

just one of those threads that shouldnt go six pages. i'll keep Ngata and that fat contract. Ray and Ed will be freeing up a lot of cap space soon enough and Ngata wont be as big of a hit. Plus, whether he has had a bad season or not, he's in the pro bowl again and is still better than almost every player that plays a similar role. Wilfork is the only name I will consider over Ngata

Bad shoulder and a a bum knee. You people realize he's essentially the back bone of our defense? He was asked to lose weight last year and did. Asked to gain this and did. I don't think his play has anything to do with effort, but more so injury. The defense earlier in the season was in th field for extended periods of time. That's more wear and tear. That with the offenses inability to sustain drives doesn't help as well. When you're a d lineman your feet and hands are essential to what you do. With a bad knee and shoulder its hard to push off and move guys. No offense but some of y'all are crazy. Flacco can play consecutive bad games in a row against underperforming teams and everyone else gets a pass but when one of or best players on d isn't having his best season of his career he's an over paid bum.

They are completely different players than Ngata.

Last time I checked, they all play the 3 and 5 technique in a 3-4 defense. Perhaps I'm wrong on that.
