Ngata, take the money and run (waddle)!

184 posts in this topic

First off.. you put words in my mouth.. then, I respond and ask where I sad what YOUR implying... and you don't respond..The point is , Ngata is almost always fighting an injury.. Wilfork is generally healthy. As for Ngata being LEAN... I never said he wasn't . He looked better at this weight to me (last year) and was quicker... HE came up with the excuse THIS YEAR , that it made him weaker at the end of the year LAST YEAR... Not me. So, this year he comes in round.. and he's still banged up... and if he's much closer to being healthy.( as he said). then his play recently speaks to a lack of motivation.

You made the fat joke about him waddling, then you paraphrased other people saying he's fat without using quotes. So don't get mad when I respond in kind and ignore your questions when half are sarcastic. So to me it's not obvious that he "lacks motivation", it's obvious that he's banged up and carrying multiple injuries.

In some aspects i can see Ngata holding back. Seriously, if you were the only doing the work would you not hold a grudge and just stop caring ? Cody is a waste of space, no one on the defense can tackle or cover and i guess he figures what the heck and stop giving the 100%

I used to like some of your posts, but ever since we started losing you've turned into a comedian.

Ngata has been playing with a torn MCL all season...that doesnt just miraculously heal itself. Im sure he will have offseason surgery, but if he had surgery in season he would have had to go on the IR which would have been disastrous. I'd agree that he hasnt been as effective this season, but Ngata is also the only front 7 player who has been out there on a consistent basis all year. The injuries are a concern but to suggest he isnt playing as hard or staying in shape because of getting a contract is absurd.

Cody has actually been good in run defense. Like, really good.

The problem is that Cody is not starting. In an ideal world Cody would be our primary NT, with Ngata rotating to NT on passing downs so Jones and McPhee can play DE.

Sorry friend. I am a fan of yours as well but i let my emotions lead at times and i apologize. I think the problem is that Cody and Ngata should be a supporting cast to each other and Cody is not holding up. I hate seeing opponents running up the gut when i know Ngata is a beast and had very high hopes for Mnt Cody. It is hard to watch our defense struggle and i get frustrated and i do get a little out there. I am used to a defense that teams feared and planned for but now it is a simple shadow if what it was. I really mean good for th eteam but it is so irritating to see some guys play their hearts out and others just not in the game at all. When i see the entire middle of the field not gaurded or a 3rd stringer march right down field i ache. My apologies and will try not to be so negative and i hope in return that in some way the Ravens can just simply win a game by making a statement. Not win by 3 points or 7 i want a statement game where we own the field at home.

Then why did he come into camp in poor shape??

Plenty of RB's run past Ngata too... Have you not seen it? The WHOLE line isnt good.. but Ngata isnt the shining star either. He's playing to the level of his fellow lineman. Thats not how a TOP 5 dlineman should react.

Thats an opinion, not a fact. We have been over this before.

The reports lean more to it being fact... Do they not?

It doesn't make much sense for me to add quotes when it was on the radio, 6 months ago. Didn't want to quote it exactly because my memory maybe slightly off.

They aren't really reports now are they? I dont think Mike Preston was watching Ngata step onto a scale.

Who gives two craps what some silly media reporter says? Their job is to create a story, even if that means creating controversy and over-blowing a weight gain.

If no one but preston is reporting it that doesn't exactly reak of credibility. No one else has even mentioned his weight.

Well.. you don't care because it doesn't support your stance.

Huh? I don't get what you're saying.. Vinny and Rob were reporting from training camp... Preston, usually isn't that far off... even if he says things not team-centric.

Well... no. Everything a reporter says should be taken with a grain of salt. Everything!

I agree. However, looking back... I'd say I can draw the conclusion said reporter was/is correct.

If the report was from Aaron Wilson or an actual NFL source that said the team was concerned about Ngata than maybe I would care. Like The Raven stated it's these guys jobs to make stories that may or may not have any credence whatsoever. It's not a "report" because some media guy who watched TC has an opinion and an avenue to express it.

I just look at Wilfork, and I see how this guy CONSISTENTLY has great seasons, and is ALWAYS a force.

No, you hear about Wilfork, see all of the accolades, and just assume that he is always a force and never had bad moments. It's a lazy 'grass is always greener on the other side' mentality common among overly cynical fans.

Ngata, when healthy, is still dominant. When injured? Still not half bad. He's been surrounded by crap in the front seven and been the most impactful player in that area of the field. Because he's from a position that's lacking in splash plays, people will just assume that he's so much worse when he isn't.

No offense but what is your post or opinion even based on? Nothing but frustration. Typical for when you lose a game like that, people whine about just everything.

His numbers are basically the same from last season. Even without any help around him. He doesn't have Warren Sapp next to him, he's getting even more attention now after his strong season last year. So what exactly are you talking about? He had one assist vs the Broncos? He had 5 tackles the week before. What's your point? Stop whining, he doesn't play linebacker. The Broncos have a great O-Line, Peyton gets rid of the ball very quick. What do you want? Is this the best season he's had? I doubt it. But after 7 years straight of playing at an All Pro level and one season where basically everyone on defense is playing average to call him out like that is pretty absurd. Suddenly he's this lazy big guy who doesn't show up, sits on his butt all day and gained weight because he doesn't care about football or this team anymore. The good thing about losing is you get to see who the true fans are and the ones that are just bandwagoners. Why not open another topic and call out Ed Reed while you're at it. And the rest of the gang. Art Jones didn't have 2 sacks this week, he's terrible. Boo hoo. Go cry somewhere else

This post is the freaking gospel and deserves a truckload of upvotes.

I have been really disappointed in the d-line this year. I thought we would be pretty good with some of our younger guys, but I miss Cory Redding.

First off... How often do you hear the "team is concerned" ? The Ravens are very private. How many people have been in the Harbs Dog House and how he NEVER addresses it. So, that tells me "team concerns" don't often hit the media.

No, actually ... since I have Sunday ticket, I see most of the games. I've seen him play plenty. He's a man among boys. Im not being overly cynical. Fact of the matter is, anyone outside of Baltimore doesn't really give a crap about our players enough to follow closely.

As for being dominant "when healthy".. How often is he healthy?

McKinnie prime example #1. Obviously Ngata is a franchise type player and won't garner that type of criticism from the team but other players have been limited and/or fined for being out of shape. Upshaw was getting fined and Cody saw his starting job dissappear because of lack of conditioning.
