Ravens Vs Giants

I don't thin our secondary is a poor as many of you r making them out to be. Yes they have given up so big plays but how many have really hurt us. I know people will make the point of how the teams we played were poor passing team or just poor teams period, but really what more do these guys have to do. For atleast 6 guys, we have been missing 2-3 thirds of your starting secondary and we still manage to be top 10 in pass defense. Ed Reed is clearly not 100% as evident by his missed tackles this season. Plus when u actually look at the big plays we do give up in the pass game, most of them are perfect throws to be pretty good coverage. You are not gonna go through a full season and not give up a few plays. If those plays aren't hurting this team then i'm fine.

Was that a Mike Preston article? He's always pessimistic.

I chalk that up to "reverse psychology" :D

You mean the same baltimore sun that said it wouldn't matter who the starting QB was because we would be terrible this season anyway? The same Baltimore sun that said McGahee would have to make atleast 5 people miss in the backfield all season because the Oline sucks? The same Baltimore Sun that followed suit with the rest of the National Media and sucked the Browns off all offseason? Who cares who the Baltimore Sun or any news outlets pick for this game. The Ravens and Giants will show up and play 60 mins(maybe more) and the better team will win. Bottomline.

I actually like the Ravens a lot in this game! I'm curious to see what the Giants can do when they find out they can't run the football! I still think this is the key to the game, stopping their run while running all over them! If we can do that we will win despite our supposedly "weak" secondary. It's a whole lot different passing the ball when everyone knows you have to!

Also, I'm looking forward to this game as the first Non-"Must-Win" game in four weeks! If the Ravens had any PlayOff aspirations at all, they needed to win each of the last 4 games AND THEY DID! This week, even if I'm wrong and the Giants happen to eek out a lucky win like the Titans and Steelers, No Big Deal!! The Ravens will still be in great shape to make the PlayOffs!!

I think Cam Cam will pull out a scheme that we have never seen before. At the beginning I think we will find ways around the pass rush. During the second half i see the giants respecting screens and quick slants. Flacoo will be pressured, but i dont think it will be as bad as the Pitt game. Our Oline has steped up...i think they will continue to play well.

Go Ravens

I'm pretty sure most of the Sun writers have gone against the Ravens every game except for the Raiders.

Ok, no one thought that we would be where we are at this point in the season with a First-Year Head Coach and a Rookie QB, but I am elated to be sitting at half a game back in the AFC North behind Pittsburgh. This team has done so much with major injuries and it is a testament of how our coaching staff has prepared our players to play somewhat above their heads, despite the circumstances. That takes a sheer heart, hard work, and determination.

Now, we have a chance to play the defending Super Bowl Champs in their own backyard and further prove that we deserve the attention that we have received the past couple of weeks.

Keys to victory are obviously stopping the run, which is what our defense prides themselves in doing. Also, we must protect the football. Flacco has done a great job managing the game by making safe throws and not turning the ball over. He has also used his legs when he has to, which is something that Eli has never been known for. Both QBs have the ability to throw an accurate deep ball and I think our weapons are pretty even. I see this game as a grind-it-out, tough, hard-nosed slugfest like the game against Tennessee. I think we will give up yards in the air and nothing on the ground. I think this game will come down to special teams and who has the better field position. We have to take the crowd out of the game early. The swirling winds of Giant Stadium will make FGs difficult, so we must get into the endzone.

I think our running game is a little more multi-faceted than the Giants and that could be the difference in the game.

I like our chances in this one. 21-17 Ravens!!!

If we are being unbiased, I dont think the Ravens have a shot in hell at winning this game. They are more the welcome to serve me some crow but I dont see it. I cant find one matchup on paper that actually favors us, given how both teams have played so far. But for the sake of being a homer:

Ravens 28- Giants 3

Oh yee of little faith. I checked our stats on NFL.com and Ravens and Giants compare favorably. We have a shot to win this sunday. I'm praying to the football Gods every night to shine upon us on sunday. Hope Flacco protects the ball and no int., hope the O Line will protect him. Establish the run game early. Shutdown the Giants run early and sack put great pressure on Eli. Ravens have a shot to win this. Never give up. GO RAVENS... any given sunday

Like i mentioned before in the thread. No team seemed to really test their run defense with 25-30 carries. The 2 teams that did rush more then 25 times had great succes in both rushing and passing(cle and cincy). Cam has prove that he is willing to run the ball 40-50 times if needed. The Gaints do have a good D but overall they are giving up 4.2 yards a carry. If we can move the ball that well it will open up things in the passing game. Cam does a great job with putting us in positon to defeat the defense. Unblanced lines and no huddles will slow the pass rush.

The more and more i think about this game, i get the feeling we will surprise everyone. No just beat the Gaints but i think it will be a 2 score game.

keep in mind that all of the analysts doing write ups about this game only seem to pay attention to the fact that the Giants have the #1 rushing attack and the Ravens have the #1 rushing defense. Let's not forget that we currently have the league's 3rd best rushing attack and the Giants have the 7th best rushing defense, which could end up being an advantage to us. Their pass defense is much better but they may also be lacking COrey Webster their best corner so we will see. I personally don't think our secondary is as bad as we thought it would be. No doubt we are missing C-Mac and Landry but Frank Walker has been doing a solid job as of late and Leonhard has stepped in quite nicely. As long as Rolle and Reed play tomorrow I think our secondary will be fine. I think this game is going to end up being a defensive battle regarding field position. And as far as field position goes, the kickoff coverage was MUCH better against Houston than Cleveland, Hauschka did a good job of kicking off and Koch is still doing a good job pinning opponents with his punts. Can't wait til this game though, I hope they actually show it down here.

The kickoff coverage was much better because of Hauschka's ability to kick the ball into or very close to the endzone. He gets pretty good hang time on this kicks which is important. Stovers kicks more of a line drive kick and that doesn't allow the coverage team to get down field quick enough. If Hauschka and continue to KO into the endzone, and Koch can continue to pin the ball inside the 15-10 yard line. It will be extermely difficult for the Gaints to move the ball consistently on the Ravens Defense.

From watching the Giant's this season, they are just another football team to me. We just have to play our game, which is stop the run and run the ball. Our pass defense bends a lot and we need our pass defense to just not break. As far as the Giant's Defense, I think we can break some big gains with screen passes and slow down the pass rush. Then hit them right in the mouth with a right(run game) or a left(pass game). :o

I say Ravens Win 20-14.

1st Qrt- Giants Score first (A pass to Kevin Boss across the middle in the endzone.)
Ravens answer back with a field goal (Baltimore gets in redzone but cant score)

2nd Qrt- Giants Score in the second quarter first. A pass to Burress in the corner of the endzone makes it 14-3.
Ravens come back with a TD late in the quarter. (Ray Rice Runs in for a score) to make it 14-10

3rd Qrt- No one Scores at all.

4th Qrt- Ravens score twice. Field goal and then a pass to Yamon Figurs in the endzone to close it out.

Thats what i think, i doubt thats what will happen but, Im entitled to have my opinion. xD

the Giants will win... it will be a very close game.

I just think that we're due for a loss. Flacco will probably have a decent game, but a touchdown and two field goals is about as much as we can expect against the Giants. We'll bounce back against the Eagles in Baltimore, but the New York game doesn't look good to me.

I think the Ravens will take this one. I was a little concerned about last sunday's game, but after the stellar performance of both O and D I feel much better about the Giants game. Ravens by 3 points.

Yea it was nice to get our run game going against the 23rd rank run defense, especially since they were fresh (first game) without their leading tackler (LB) out for the season. This Giants team is not going to let us plow all over them like Houston did. I wish they do, but the probability of it is slim.
Honestly, we CANT afford another loss.... but it's the NFL. Anything can happen
I would say in all 16 games, we can't afford a loss. Some people are calling this as a must win though. I really do not think this is a must win. If anything this game is an assessment as to where we stand in the NFL. I'm hoping for a win or at least a tough close battle. The Ravens have surprised me so much this year, that right now every thing is gravy on my plate. But this will be a tough game for us. Anybody that thinks otherwise is ignorant.

There are still 6 games left in the season. So a loss here, will not be the end of our playoff chase. The must win game comes in December against the Steelers. Even if we fall one game behind here, we still have a chance of drawing even with the Steelers. The head-to-head tie-breaker would be tie. So we can be actually "tied" in the standings. We just have to beat a common opponent that they lost too. Luckily we both lost to the Colts. The Steelers lost to the Giants. But we have to make sure we beat the Redskins if we lose this game.
