More thoughts on filling OC job

I can't hold back any longer. Hugh Jackson Is the best offensive coordinator in the NFL. It's a crime this man is an obscure position coach. Everywhere he's gone and had any say in the offensive play the offense has flourished. Start in Cincinnati as a receivers coach. Jackson was given much imput into the offense and they went 11-5. In Atlanta he took over as interim coach and lit-it-up the last few games of the season with, of all QBs, Chris Remond at the helm. Then in Baltimore as a quarterbacks coach he helped Flacco and our offense for 2 years before he was appropriately hired as head coach in Oakland. Our offense hasn't been the same since. All he did in Oakland was turn a rag tag buch of underachievers into a very good offense. Darren Mcfadden and Darius Heyward Bey became players to have on your fantisy team.
Hugh Jackson is the best offensive coordinator since Ted Marchabroda. Ted made all Pros out of every quarterback he ever worked with. Hugh might even be better. His run blocking scemes and play calling are brilliant.
In my opinion Hugh Jackson is a legitimate offensive genius. He was my pick when people called for Cam's dismisal a few years back.

Why worry about a new OC when your QB over throws most passes, fumbles the ball on their side of the 50 and gives them 7 on a interception inside the 20. Yes, it is the OC's fault. I knew folks would not admit Flacco is a very bad decision maker and we will never see a Ring with him. God forbid you make him own up to his loss.

Didn't Drew Brees throw 5 interceptions against Atlanta this season? Take away Sean Payton and even Drew Brees can mess up. Coaching scemes and planing makes a world of difference IMO

Alex Smith with the good Harbaugh brother is another example of how coaching can make all the difference.

I'm not opposed to Hue Jackson returning, but I'm still firmly on the Whisenhunt bandwagon. As long as it's not Norv and the Coryell I'll be hopeful.

I actually think that Caldwell did a decent job yesterday. Execution was just absolutely horrid. Blocking was practically non-existent, hence the run game didn't pick up until it was too late. Poor passing by Flacco, and dropped passes. All around, I think the execution is what really held us back. I liked some of the play calling, and I think it was quite different than what Cam would have called. We saw receivers running slants and short inside routes, tight ends crossing over the middle, screen passes(that failed), etc. Overall, I think the play calls were fine it was just a terrible effort by our offensive players. I'm pretty curious to see the play calling these next two games. Though I don't think it would be a bad idea to start investigating some long term solutions for the OC job.

Very good. I saw the same thing. With Cam I always said we got by on execution because the schemes and planning were not good. Run game was there for the most part. They just need to look at the film and get an idea of what they need to do to improve. Probably a matter of getting used to a new scheme and beginning to believe in it.

Hue and Whisenhunt sound good to me. I really want out of the current system, I don't care if Norv can run it so much better than Cam. I think we need to wash our hands of it and move on.

Whoever we get though, I really hope they give Flacco a wrist coach. Seriously, I feel like I'm the only one who brings this up and sees this as a problem. I don't think it will necessarily make him some unstoppable force, but I do believe it would help out a lot as far as calling plays in, running the no huddle, and writing down mental notes to remember in game. Before anyone says something about it showing Joe isn't smart enough or something, Brady wears one and writes mental notes on his. I know this because LFW had a whole piece on it last year. Also, I don't know of any other QB in the league that doesn't wear one.

Also, I don't think a new OC and a wrist coach will fix everything, we need a legit LT. We could also use a #1 receiver, maybe we have one waiting in the wings maybe not.

Bc Hue Jackson is a passionet OC who will beat Flacco's until he corrects these problems. He is a bad decision maker at times, but with a Jackson or Zorn back, a lot of this could be fixed. Cam was a control freak, and I believe that the one year with Cam fully in charge of him caused him to regress back to near rookie form. Now we are seeing a sophmore slump if anything. Fumbles are a problem that can be corrected........

This, Jim aint the problem, Hue and Jim as co-offensive coordinators fix a lot of problems. I saw promise from Jim, more 3WR sets, and passes over the middle, which is where we are going to find out if Torrey is an elite WR.

Yeah, you're right. Also, John might have fired Cam with 4 games left to play (not including our most likely lone playoff game) to give Caldwell an opportunity to showcase himself as a capable O coordinator. If he stinks up the joint then we'll go searching for one. As much as I disliked Cam I didn't agree with the move this late in the season because our offense is already inconsistent.
