I wonder what plan 2 would have been.
What if for what ever reason Caldwell had declined the position ?

I believe Harbs had talked to Caldwell before the firing. If he had declined, possibly Hostler.

But that's blasphemy here in these forums.
[/quote]Ah, only you react rationally to conflicting opinions.

Right. I'm sure they talked about the possibility when Caldwell first came on board. This didn't happen overnight.

What happens to if Joes play gets worse. Who do we blame then. Will it be Caldwell now that he is taking over. Caldwell knows football he has been in the game for a while. He coached in college before the NFL... and he offense was mostly a passing offense... Flacco will love to hear that... we have three more games and hopefully a run in the playoffs to see who is at fault. Caldwell is a smart guy... but if we lose at least 2 of three we have to realize its Flacco who leads the offense that's the problem and not just the coaches.

You can't be serious. With 17 of our players listed on the Injury Report and Ray Lewis inactive for the game, you still have the unmitigated gall to look for another scapegoat. Eight of the players listed are offensive players. If you can't see that losing 2 of the next 3 games won't be a fair indication of Jim Caldwell's ability or Joe's, you really aren't an astute football fan and you ought to look for a simpler sport to follow. I would suggest badminton for some of you Flacco antagonists. Joe Flacco played well enough last Sunday on the road to wrap up the Division championship. How do you know Jim Caldwell is a smart guy? Is it because he was promoted by Tony Dungy from QBs coach to Head Coach in Indy? Is it because Peyton Manning said Jim Caldwell took his game to the next level? According to sources, he has never called a play in the NFL or the NCAA. I think his W-L record as a head coach at Indy was 26-22. If we win tomorrow, it will be a freaking miracle, given the health of our team. Joe Flacco will get no credit for the victory. If we lose. it will be his fault whether or not our defense surrenders 30 points or more, right? My scapegoats are all of the dumb players who had the audacity to get hurt this year and won't be able to play at full capacity, if at all, tomorrow. How dare they get injured?

Quite frankly, your post is an insult to the intelligence of any real Ravens fan! WE WIN AS A TEAM AND WE LOSE AS A TEAM. The Division Championship should have been wrapped up a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately,WE didn't get the job done and now WE will be fortunate to even make the playoffs. The players who are nursing major injuries and the walking wounded would have been resting up for the playoffs if the coaching staff had played its cards right earlier in the season.

Ask yourself this question. Why will our DC and our OC be coaching from the pressbox on Sunday? Shouldn't they be down on the field to exhort their troops? OR is it that they just don't want to take responsibility for being field generals? They will be calling the plays from up above so they can see what's going on from up above and relaying the call to someone else who will in turn relay the call to Joe Flacco. Does that make good sense to you? Will that be efficient or will it take longer? C'mon man!
What we have here is failure to communicate! Its broke and it ain't Joe Flacco's fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firing Cam was a bad idea for the time. You should have finished the season and made changes after.

Playoffs! playoffs! you kidding me......

I think that was discussed before the firing , they would not be left with no OC. All bases were covered before Cam got the Ax.

Other then looking like a desperate team, which i don't agree with, what's wrong with the timing?

Its only bad timing because of how long it took.

Caldwell isnt changing the system and anyone would be a better playcaller than cam, so i dont see the issue.

Only time will tell, just wait and see how it plays out. We'll see if Jim Caldwell is just a better QB Coach and we'll need to bring in someone next year as OC or maybe he can be our OC going forward.

Flacco will have a lot more independence, and thus responsibilty, under Caldwell's system. Flacco has a very high football IQ, so this should lead to a notable improvement.

He has at least 3 games this season to prove himself! Hopefully, Caldwell will also utilize Rice more. Cameron ordered passing plays at the worst times...

I like Flacco, but one area that needs work IS his football IQ. Simple reads and adjustments aren't made. Now, was that Cam being stubborn and making him stick to the call or Joe's immaturity at the position? Only time will tell.

Caldwell is in a bad spot. You have a QB that gives Peyton Manning extras chances and great field position. You cannot win like that but we all know our defense can stop any team at any time. If you are to give Joe credit for all of our wins then you have to give him credit for all of our losses as well right ? Cannot be a one sided field. And Joe just has so many issues in the back field, holding onto a ball bad decisions etc. He may be our QB but i am starting to compare him to Phillip Rivers, great at times but you will never see him in a Super Bowl as he will find the worst time to just give points away.

GOOD LUCK Caldwell you will need it.
