Bottom line is Joe can make all the throws if the oline protects well like they did in the Giants game .

If the online plays the remainder of the season like they just did ,we can beat anybody ,including the
Texans and Broncos and Packers or Falcons.
Just an optimistic addition..........

Just watched the game, and wow that throw to Pitta while scrambling was sooo sick!!!
i rewatched the game and i am presently rewatching it again...lol! that play was incredible! i loved how Joe not only "climbed" the pocket when it was collapsing...but then he scrambled out of it and made a tremendous throw with pinpoint accuracy between 3 defenders. IF Joe keeps elevating his game play like that...the league will have a new sheriff in town!
amazing what a week does ain't it milli?

This is why I never let a few games change my opinion on any player. Players go through peaks and troughs.

You have to judge them over a year, heck even two or three to really form an opinion when there is only 16 to 20 games a year.

yeah! a week of constant pressure and criticism from the media, a few teammates and some of us fans can do wonders for a player. imo, Joe still played like garbage for a 3 game stretch brah! this was his BEST game in weeks! speaking for myself.....this is why i smoke him in here like i do......cause the way he played Sunday afternoon.....I KNOW that he "can" and "should" be playing like that on a more regular and consistent basis after being a 5th year starting QB. now....was i proud of him on Sunday? ABSOLUTELY! i loved every bit of watching Joe Flacco ballin' out! lol! my thing is this....can he continue that trend even when we have to take this Ravens offensive show on the road? i hope so!
That was entertaining lol.

Joe played like a man possesed, the scarey part is that the stat line could have been even better if he didn't miss a few (and if Jacoby's catch would have counted)

Matt Ryan is good but not worth no Ray Rice.
I do wonder what Matt Ryan's numbers would be factoring in 1. playing the Steelers and Bengals 2 times a year 2. having Mark Clayton and Derrick Mason over Roddy White 3. dealing with Cam Cameron for 4+ years instead of going from a good OC in Mularky to a better one in Koetter 4. having to play outdoors in the cold instead of getting a minimum of 10 games a year in a dome.

And even with all that factored in, Ryan's numbers are not significantly better than Joe's. Hmmmmmmm.

Ryan is in a pass happy division where a solid defense can't be found and their secondaries are even more horrible. That is why it is hard for teams like the Falcons.. like the Saints.. to be successful in the post-season. The moment they run into a stout defense that can cover receivers well and not give up points -- they're doomed.

Good for instance, Seattle & New Orleans -- Seattle had no business being in the post-season with that 7-9 record, but because they had a decent defense they were able to stop Brees early and often.

Ryan, same thing. It's not just because he's went up against the future reigning SB Champion -- it's because those teams he has lost to have a good defense.

I may do a post on this at some point under the "Other NFL Teams" thread to show the statistical findings of it.

Ryan is a good QB. Sure, he has benefited from certain characteristics that go with playing for the Falcons, but so has Joe with playing for the Ravens, like a very stout defense (at least for 4 years). While I am (heavily) biased toward Joe, being a Ravens fan, I can admit Ryan has some good qualities as well. For where they each play and what is asked of them, they do equally well. Of course Joe has won a lot more playoff games....

I think this had more to do with Seattle being almost impossible to operate an offense in rather than their defense being good enough to stop the Saints.

not what i meant. Im more interested in how the o line holds up and how Joe reacts to playing a decent defense. The Giants D is known more for their reputation than their production (altho that D could easily be so much better than it is now)
He has looked great this year, but I keep 2 things in mind. 1) every time he's played a top 5 defense i.e. the Steelers in 2010 WITHOUT Roethlisberger and the Cardinals this year, he's looked terrible - you expect any quarterback to struggle against the best in the league, but he continuously gets a pass whereas if Joe doesn't throw for 3 TDs against the Steelers everyone calls him a bust. And 2) Ryan plays in a dome - that's the team that drafted him, and it's not a huge deal, but looking back over the dome games Joe has played in HIS career - Reliant Stadium his rookie season QBR 119, Minnesota and Detroit in 09 QBR 109 and 120, New Orleans and Atlanta in 2010 QBR 112 and 100 (not to mention Joe also dominated the other 2 teams in the NFC South), St. Louis and Indy last year QBR 104 and 103. If Joe got to play a minimum of 9 games a year in a dome (Ryan plays 8 home games plus 1 game at New Orleans at least) I think his numbers would be higher. I never understand how people can compare the two in a vacuum when you consider that Ryan has had the better offensive coaching, the better weapons, generally plays weaker passing defenses, and plays in a dome in more than half his games every year. Like I said, Matt Ryan has looked great this year, but I still think it's unfair to compare his raw numbers to Joe's when Ryan has had so many advantages over the years when compared to Joe, whether it be weather, receivers, difficulty of schedule, etc.

Saw today that we set a team low in turnovers this year - 16. Now, I know Joe had at least thirteen (ten interceptions, three fumbles.) But did he have the other three too?

Flacco threw 10 INTs and lost 4 fumbles, for a total of 14 turnovers. The other 2 were Tyrod Taylor's pick 6 from yesterday, and a Deonte Thompson lost fumble on a kick-off return.

Despite Flacco making up the majority of our turnovers, he was still one of the best in the league at minimizing turnovers this season.

Here are rankings for lowest turnover percentage for all qualifying QBs (minimum 14 attempts per team game = 14 * 16 = 224 attempts):

Key: (INTs + Fumbles Lost) / (Pass Attempts + Sacks + Rush Attempts) = Turnover Ratio

1. Tom Brady: (8 + 0) / (637 + 27 + 23) = 1.16%
2. Robert Griffin III: (5 + 2) / (393 + 30 + 120) = 1.29%
3. Aaron Rodgers: (8 + 4) / (552 + 51 + 54) = 1.83%
4. Cam Newton: (12 + 1) / (485 + 36 + 127) = 2.01%
5. Matt Schaub: (12 + 0) / (544 + 27 + 21) = 2.03%
6. Peyton Manning: (11 + 2) / (583 + 21 + 23) = 2.07%
7. Ben Roethlisberger: (8 + 3) / (449 + 30 + 26) = 2.18%
8. Sam Bradford: (13 + 1) / (551 + 35 + 37) = 2.25%
9. Joe Flacco: (10 + 4) / (531 + 35 + 32) = 2.34%
10. Matt Ryan: (14 + 2) / (615 + 28 + 34) = 2.36%
11. Russell Wilson: (10 + 3) / (393 + 33 + 94) = 2.50%
12. Matthew Stafford: (17 + 4) / (727 + 29 + 35) = 2.65%

Okung is a O-lineman
