Joe Flacco assessment and miscellaneous "stuff"

Having a great QB is a good problem to have. Ask KC or the Cards all of which are one good QB away from being competitors for the SB. QB is the one position that is the hardest to get right so when you have that done, regardless of the situation elsewhere you can consider yourself happy (Remember how awful our D looked for most of the season?).
I doubt Joe will get top 5 money. That's just his agent talking. The team offers him top 15, his agent demands top 5 and in the end they settle for top 10 (depending on our post season performance closer or further away from the top 5).
If he wins the SB then he will get top 5

Guys I am not a Flacco hater and am actually a supporter, but again its one game against a garbage pass defense. The playcalling and protection were better, but lets see what he does next week against a tougher cincy team (if he plays)
You are right about the pass D, but they do have a great pass rush, which is something our O had problems with. If you can beat the Giants, things are looking up when we face the Texans again.

I will give you garbage pass D, but you have to admit, Flacco played one hell of a game.
I give him full credit and the playcalling protectiona nd execution were all superb but again its one game.

We can all agree that it was nice to see Flacco perform well at the last home game for the regular season.

Let's see how he performs in the post season.

And imagine if we had Megatron on the team, we'd be really good. What if is pointless

Im not detracting from Flacco's performance. It was great, but just like last week didnt define Flacco, this one does not either. Flacco needs to be able to perform every week regardless of the circumstances. He does not need to be Aaron Rodgers, but he has to be able to make do with what he has and I believe he can now that the playcalling has been upgraded substantially, but Im not gonna crown or crucify him after one game.

I think Tyrod might get some substantial playing time next week as well thanks to Joe's performance today. 4th seed is as high as we can climb so while I want the offense to play at least a half, I think Tyrod should see the 2nd half. Just my opinion though.

Pats lose next week and we beat Cincy, we take 3rd. Players are gonna play!

That is a fair and realistic assessment to make. Caldwell had his first game, where he did a great job calling plays. Let us see if he can do the same against the Bengals.

Oh well then! My bad. Don't know why I thought we couldn't get higher.

I take it back then.

Let's hunt!

Flacco will probably always be inconsistent and streaky. He's the type of QB where you have to evaluate his season as a whole at the end of the year, just like with Eli and Roethlisberger.

naw! imo, the starters still need to play! we're still fighting for AFC seeding now.

I think someone said it in another thread: would rather face the Colts than a division rival (Bengals). Not sure if the #5 and #6 seeds are set in stone though.

I do believe 5th ans 6th are set. Its just us (4th) and Pats (3rd) who could flip.
id look at it the other way, if we are four and not three, provided Houston wins next week and gets the 1 seed. Would you rather go to Houston or denver.

And don't put it past Miami... they've been known to upset the Pats late in the season... we could use the favor.

Regardless, if we're in a position that the MIA/NE game is over and we're a score up or a score down -- we can pick our destiny at that point.

Flacco played a great freaking game today. He made some pretty impressive throws today. Made 69% of his passes. 300 yards. 2 TDs. Great game! WRs made an impact today. Rice got more than a few looks as a receiver. I think Jim Caldwell is figuring it out. I'll hold off further judgement until I see some consistency.

We will try to win the game but some that are at risk to worsen an injury will surely sit or play sparingly.

Whats up with people saying this is just one game? Hasn't Joe performed like this in past? People just gave up on Joe too quick! Some Qbs just have bad streaks (see Ben Rothlesburger). We have seen what type of Qb Joe can be in the past, and most can agree it was playcalling and bad oline performance that held him back.

Probably cause hes stunk it up more often than set the world on fire this year. Just a touch nervous...

Thats understandable, we can sit here and debate on opinions of why we think hes been so incosistent, but i m not going to get in to that. It's funny cause some say all they care is about Ws and ever since Flacc has been the Qb, we have had winning seasons! Plain and simple he' a winner.

Flacco (94.4) had a better QB rating vs the defending Super Bowl Champion than Peyton Manning (93.6) against the hapless Browns! :ravensquote:

I think its soooooo funny to here you guys talk about Flacco improving when its his fifth year.........dude will never be better then what you see now.
What I see now is a 100+ passer rating. I'll take that.

I still cant believe there are people questioning Flacco... I have said it many times on this forum... give the guy protection, and he can make the throws. The games he didnt, do well he was being hurried, 15+ times during those games... Today he had protection and a GREAT job from the OC, to mix up the run and pass and be BALANCED...

I still cant believe how bad the officials wanted to screw us... I also look for Goodell to screw Reed, for a perfectly legal hit AGAIN...

Best of luck to you Reed, and AQ, get that shoulder better soon!

Great game by Flacco, it was nice to see. The thing I liked most besides the error free ball was the completion pct. especially throwing the ball outside the usual few yard dump off range.

I'd like to see him with this chip on his shoulder more often. It looks like he was playing with a sense of urgency, with passion and had something to prove instead of the normal complacent body language I see.

Maybe if he starts stacking great games like this up he'd gain more support in keeping him around

Great game by the entire team, Flacco played very well. However, anyteam and anyone can put together one great game, this team needs to stay consistent if it hopes to do anything in the postseason.

I purposefully stayed away from the forums last week, so as to not get caught up in the Ravens/ Flacco bashing. Joe Flacco is fine. He had a few bad games but so did everyone else. Bad QB's don't make the throws he made yesterday. No he is not perfect and has some things to improve on. But guys, playoffs 5 straight years. Yes the defense won some of those games but Joe Flacco won a number of them too, along with everyone wearing purple and black. He may never be what some consider a top 5 QB but a team is greater than the sum of its parts. At the end of the day getting thr win is all that matters and all Joe cares about.
