Time to bounce back: Beltway Battle

We'll get a taste of coming attractions tonight, although the NY Giants have a real defensive line and are one of the few teams than can probably contain him... or at least try to lol

true. Not to mention, Morris is better then Dwyer.... and Shannahan , if anything can find ways to run the ball.

Flacco better not have a 1TD/1INT game and think some miracle 4th&29 or jacoby jones to save his butt just so flacco's homer can crown him king.

He needs to step his game up. If he flops against one of the worst secondary unit in NFL, then he can go somewhere else next year.

In a way, I kinda hope the Redskins blow out the Giants tonight. That would be a huge emotional win for the Redskins and those don't usually translate well into the next game.

Anyways, RG3 can run and pass great. Neither of which is our strong point on defense.

As of right now the Redskins are 3rd in the league in rushing & 24th in passing. On defense they are #1 against the run & 29th against the pass. (still have to play tonight though).

Ravens are #14 in passing & 23rd in rushing. (ughh) On defense we're 23rd against the run (UGHH) & 23rd against the pass.

Our defense has actually done better on the road with generating turnovers, the Redskins offense & defense actually does better on the road then at home. (yardage/turnover wise).

Stats don't mean nothing because of any given sunday. But just updating some people who don't know and may be curious like myself.

Omg. How will our guys block the Giants D-line? I didn't even think of that. :( .....And I won't until we face them lol.

this game "appears" to be a 31-34 kind of game if our offense can manage that on the road.. with how both teams defense's have struggled this year. Hopefully ours can sure up something's in the back end cause RG hits those big play action bombs every week

I wonder how much it helps to be able to watch this game in prep for next week? Do you see and similarities in the Giants D and Ravens D?

hopefully we can get the "W" this game. but to be honest...and i know that they gave up some stuff last night...but...i am more concerned about the Ravens offense than the defense. the Ravens offense have shown us game after game that they are incapable of getting offensive separation (points wise) from their opponents. it doesn't matter how many times the defense gets them the ball back (i.e. fumbles, INT's etc.), the question becomes; "can the offense do anything with that opportunity?" imo, unfortunately we've seen the "true" answer to that question game after game. this is december football now...they got to play a whole lot better than this.

To win this game, we'll need to score early and often. No way the D keeps the score down in this one. Is there hope that there can be the needed imaginative, unpredictable play calling? I don't know.

Webb was the only one fast enough to rush RG.
Our secondary is just going to have to cover well.
HA! I crack my self up.

This game rides on RG's mistakes.

The sad part is that our secondary did alright the first half. They played man for the most part and we brought pressure. Sure we got beat here and there but we held them to 73 yards in total offense. Then, for some unknown reason, Pees changed everything. Our pressure was non-existent for the most part the 2nd half and we were in zone coverage (which we just are not good at!) 90% of the time.

i think the defense just needs to work on preventing RGIII from scoring touchdowns (don't let him get too comfortable in the pocket, don't let him run all over field) and the offense just needs to get out there and score some points. a mediocre defense can beat the skins so long as the offense gets it done, as you can see when the skins were beat by the panthers.

If we win, we clinch the playoffs for the fifth straight year. And we're one step closer to AFC North title and a first round bye, or at least a home game during wildcard weekend. I think this is one of those scenarios where the hungrier team wins. We rebound from losses pretty well, I think we haven't lost two in a row in quite some time. If the Redskins lose tonight, their hopes are pretty much diminished. They'll go to 5-7, a solid two games behind Seattle (the 6th seed right now) with the Cowboys, Vikings, Buccaneers, and Rams all ahead of them.Tonight I'm pulling for the Giants.

did you just use the words; "score,' "early" and "often" in the same sentence in reference to the Ravens offense? :229031_rofl:

1. you need an effective pass rush to fluster the QB out of the pocket so he isn't comfortable...but IF you do that...who's gonna stop him from breaking off long runs?

2. let's be honest...when was the last time that you saw the Ravens offense just get out there and score and score and score?

I don't know, but to have a chance I think we need to. Trying to take the air out of the ball and shorten the game is not going to get it done. We're at a point now where we need to remove all the stops and go for it. Being conservative is taking us nowhere.

RGIII is going to absolutely light this defense up, it's going to be ugly to watch. Like playing a video game you'll wonder if throwing and scoring points are really that easy and why our offense can't do it.

This game is like an hour away from Baltimore, hardly a road game, but Flacco and the offense will find a way to [play extremely bad]

How do we stop a mobile QB when we could not even cover against Batch ? Did anyone else notice in the 4th quarter that when Heath went across the middle i swear i did not see a defender in the picture and that happened a few times. Where were they ? All i know is we have 3 very hard games coming up and i do not know how we bounce back from what happened last night.

I mean, it can't hurt to see what each team does tonight, especially the Redskins, but if we put out the kind of effort that we did last night, we'll get beat badly.

Every game is different. Look at us...Browns debacle one week, beat the division leader on the road the next week. It's the crazy NFL. If Suggs is out....RG could make it very tough on you guys...might be an offensive shoot out.

B..no offense...BUT why are you still over here on our boards brah? the Ravens and steelers competition are over for now. it's time for you to focus on your remaining 4 opponents don't you think? i mean, i am sure that they have team/fan boards for you to go over there and yuck it up with them. nothing personal but i am tired of looking at steelers avatars on our sites. steelers week is over! lol!

We'll win. We'll rebound after a loss. Perhaps this is what we needed to go on to win the Super Bowl. You know, you always have challenges. We've won 9 games already. Sure, we didn't lock up the division, but we still control our own destiny. We beat the Broncos and don't lose any more games and we get the #2 seed again.
Beat Broncos? We can't beat Charlie Batch and you think we beat Payton Manning? If only Flacco has greatest day of his career and passes for 500 yds and 5 TDs. And Defense shows up, then we may, say MAY, get lucky and win.

Just because we didn't beat Charlie Batch doesn't mean we can't beat Peyton Manning. Different day, different game. Lets not forget that we also beat Tom Brady, Carson Palmer, Philip Rivers, and Tony Romo.

Besides. The Denver's offense hasn't exactly been mind blowing. Still an east coast away game. Who knows what sort of weather impact, if any. Let's wait until this game is played on the field. Joe could thow for 200 yards and a TD and we can win.

Unless there is a miracle performance from flacco (he plays on the level of RG3, Manning, Brady), then we lose.
