Ok, so who's to say a system change wouldn't benefit him and that he succeeds in a 3-4 defense? Look around the league, players change positions and systems and it excels their career and in other cases hurts his career. Put him in a 3-4, any 3-4 team and I think he'll become a better player.

He's a slug. That's the problem. I don't care what scheme you run, 3-4, 4-3, 2-6...plus this cat is sensationally unmotivated, think Jared Gaither...all the talent in the world and nothing to show for it.

NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell didn't mince words on McClain this week, opining that the No. 8 overall pick in the 2010 draft has been "awful ... arguably the worst starting 4-3 middle linebacker in the NFL. He can't move." (Rotoworld)

See what I did there? Now take your avatar and abbreviated user name back to 2007. Talent does not always lead to results on the field.

Fool. What does any of that have to do with disproving what I said? Jameel doesn't play 4-3... So.. what are you talking about? The difference in the matter is that Jameel is playing up to his ability, Ro isn't ... If Ro can get focused, he's FAR and AWAY better then Jameel. Once again, answer the question.. Who's more gifted? More potential ? More ability?

He has been held back by a terrible Raiders team who drafted a 3-4 MLB when they run the 4-3. Give him a chance.

Players are affected by those around them. People call some players good for nothing because they don't try their hardest on a team with a losing mindset. Barry Sanders QUIT football because of the same thing and he is a legend. How do we know that certain players on the Ravens right now would not have acted like McClain does if they were on a different team.

We don't because the Ravens have had a lot of success since their inception. I'm sure playing on a motivated defense on a winning team would give him motivation.

Noooo. Jameel right now is more gifted and has more ability. Sit and watch Ro play. He doesn't do anything well...blitz, run stop or drop into coverage. Every player in the league has potential, but that doesn't mean results. Potential goes hand in hand with "what if", I'm just not a fan of the "what if" scenarios.

I think that MOST players leave Oakland and become better players almost instantly. It's not a "what if" its been proven. Leave Oakland, find a good home, revitalize your career.

Sorry for the misinformation guys. Seemed I wasn't the only one confused.
It wasn't your fault. Its just hard to trust information when the player is the source. They are often feeding off emotion.

We had the same matter happen to us w/ McKinnie at the beginning of the year. He tweeted he was gone (or something to that affect) when in reality he wasn't.

Your not the only one, I I write for a small NFL website and I had made an article on how his release paved way for Oakland to draft Te'o and I just updated the article so that it was up to date.

ha I was right saying the Raiders will shelf him this season... two games suspension by the team to start with... he's 23 and not going anywhere without Raiders getting a draft pick in return

I will make this bold prediction. He'll never play another game in a Raiders uniform. The two game suspension I believe was the max they could give him under the CBA.

JO your take on Te'o still might be right. As long as the current personnel stick around, the Raiders are done with McClain. They are going to try and get something for him in the offseason first.

I guess we shall just agree to disagree. I haven't kept tabs on all players leaving Oakland and how they've done afterwards but from who I can think of (Nnamdi, Fabian, Routt, Gallery) none of them have impressed when leaving. I do agree Oakland is a half crap organization still reeling from the Al Davis days but if a dude doesn't play good, then he doesn't play good. I hope for Rolando's sake he's able to turn things around...except if he goes to Pitt or NE of course.

Based off of talent and potential, there is a reason that Rolando went #8 overall and Jameel went undrafted. Now, Jameel has played above his ability thus far but Rolando had more potential.

But let's hope that teams get scared of signing him due to his off the field issues and allow to fall in the waiver order to us or get him after he clears waivers. That is the only thing worries me, his off the field issues but if he can be matured by being in our locker room and being coached properly, then I think we might be able to find Ray's successor.

Edit: I moved Rolando from the Raiders to the Ravens in Madden 12 already and about to try it out. So playing off the current roster, my ILBs are Rolando and Jameel McClain.

Nice...how has it worked out so far?

Better numbers? He is trash. There is a reason he was released and not just because of the money.

NO THANKS.

Thankfully you aren't the GM. Ozzie will definitely take a look at him, he's a bama guy

Sure. Whatever you say. McClain is nothing special, but keep thinking another 2 down LB is what the team needs. Besides, who knows if Oakland is even going to release him. Let him ride the pine.
