Ted Marchbroda, when coaching the Colts, lost a game to the Lions, on purpose.

It put the team in a three way tie for the division, and they won the tie breaker . It is what good head coaches do.

By any means necessary!!!!!

Interesting. Here's mine.

Now, obviously ANYTHING can happen from here to February, but what do you guys think will happen in the playoffs.

According to my predicted seeding...

Steelers @ Patriots: We can't beat them in New England. No one can, really :'( Patriots win 24-21.

Colts @ Ravens: No way Luck can hang with the Ravens. Ravens win 27-14.

Redskins @ Giants: Redskins can play anyone tough, especially their rivals, but I think the Giants still can hold them off. Giants 34-26.

Bears @ Packers: This one will be a hard nosed, brutal game. I think the Packers win it though, 17-13.

Patriots @ Texans: Texans are legit, but the Pats are the team to beat still. Patriots 27-20.

Ravens @ Broncos: Broncos are a legit team, and I think they can go deep. Broncos 24-21. *Dodges bullets*

Packers @ Niners: Packs got their number. Packers 34-20.

Giants @ Falcons: Falcons won't make it to far, mark my words. Giants 27-23.

Broncos @ Patriots: Brady vs Manning... going with the three rings man. Patriots 37-28.

Packers @ Giants: REVENGE!!!! Pack come back and win, 28-27.

SB 47 Packers VS Patriots

Gut tells me Patriots.

Houston has been due for a loss for a while. They've played sloppily. Is it realistic for us to get the first seed? I doubt it. We'll need a boat load of help. But, second seed is right within our grasp.

Kinda like the Ravens vs. Chargers game?

Interesting and not too far fetched, but I dont see Pats as a one or two seed. I think the Ravens have the best shot at that #2 even with a tough schedule. Ravens have the tough games at home and even if they drop a road game would still have H2H over Pats.

I see you guys losing to the Redskins and Giants. No other losses. The Pats will run the table I think.

It's imperative that we get this first round bye. There is very little room for error here.

Hopefully the Pats can shake things up by beating Houston, as well. Having the #1 would seed would be awesome.
well that just doesn't work, because that means we are 12 4. Beat denver, meaning the best denver can do is 12 4 as well, but we hold the tie breaker on them meaning wed be ahead of them.

In that scenario is texans 1 pats 2 us 3 denver 4

If the Ravens win next week, they do win the North.

Baltimore clinches AFC North Division:
1) BAL win + CIN loss
Baltimore clinches a playoff berth:
1) BAL win
or
2) BAL tie + CIN loss + MIA loss or tie

So regardless of what any other team does, next week. WIN and they are IN

This is kind of going to be a long post but since it's a playoff thread I figured Ill put it in here right now the only teams the Steelers really need to focus on are the Bengals,Miami and San Diego. The Dolphins have 3 of their final 5 games with San Fran and 2 against the Patriots so as long as they drop 2 of those 3 games and get to 8 losses which I am pretty certain they will do they wont be able to catch the Steelers. As for the Chargers as long as the Steelers beat them here next Sunday on December 9th that will put them at 8 losses and they wont be able to catch the Steelers, and as for the Bengals as long as the Steelers beat them here at Heinz Field on December 23rd and the Bengals lose one of their other 4 games either at San Diego,Dallas at home,at Philly or home to Baltimore which is most likely going to happen they will have 7 losses and like I just mentioned as long as the Steelers are able to beat them here at home even if they both finish at 9-7 the Steelers will win the head to head tiebraker over the Bengals because they swept them.

You can also say that the Titans who are 4-7 now and own the head to head tiebraker over the Steelers need to lose one more game to get to 8 losses just incase they would by some miracle win out and finish 9-7 they would own the tiebraker over the Steelers since they beat them. But there is no way they will win out seeing that they still have to play the Texans,Packers and Colts again. They are guaranteed to drop at least one of those games which would then eliminate the scenario I posted above.

The bottom line is for all those idiots in the media sitting there saying the Steelers playoff chances are dead if they lose to the Ravens this Sunday and fall to 6-6 dont have a clue what they are talking about. They can even lose at Dallas in a few weeks which is there last road game and have 7 losses and still get in at 9-7 as long as they win their home games with the Chargers,Browns and especially the Bengals who they MUST beat at home to make this whole thing possible. The Bengals have been playing better and have looked good the last few weeks but they still dont scare me and Andy Dalton has yet to beat the Steelers since he came into the league last year and has played pretty bad against them in all 3 losses. Ben Roethlisberger,Antonio Brown, and Troy will all be back by the Chargers game and will definitely be back by the Chargers game and definitely all be playing by the Bengals game. It's really that simple guys and gals. The Bengals pretty much need to lose one more game other then to the Steelers which hopefully happens Sunday at San Diego and the Steelers need to win their 3 home games and finish at 9-7 and they are in plain and simple....

Highdea....

If we win the next 4 games (13-2) and Houston's wheels fall off and they lose to NE, Colts and another random loss (11-4)...we would wrap up the #1 seed win or lose at Cincy.

If it works out where Cincy "wins and in", do we choose to lose to keep Pitt out assuming the other Wild Card is Colts? It'd be interesting huh...albeit very unlikely.

Out of spite for Pittsburgh, I'd say we lose, but that's not in Harbaugh or our team and I'd be pretty disappointed if they did do that. Rest some players, sure, but don't throw the game.

I'm not really saying "throw" the game, but a lot of our guys could really use the rest (Ngata, Reed, #52, McPhee, Cody, Birk). I know we'd get a bye and all but rest is rest for these vets.

Hypotheticals. I think you guys will make it, much to my chagrin. And if you do I hope you play NE and beat them in the Wild Card round.
Oh it's definitely possible but I will not start to panic and say our chances are not good unless we lose that San Diego game and drop to 6-7,and lets say Miami ends up winning their next two games against the Patriots and Niners and gets to 7-6 which is not going to happen I believe either. If that happens then the Steelers have to win out and win at Dallas the following week and then beat both Cincy and Cleveland at home. Beating San Diego next Sunday here allows the Steelers the luxury of losing in Dallas and still finishing at 9-7 by beating Cincy and Cleveland at home the last 2 weeks and getting in the playoffs. The Chargers game is flat out huge in my opinion and a MUST win which is why I am saving Big Ben another week and not playing him this week in Baltimore if I am Tomlin. You need to win the Chargers game right now more then you need to win in Baltimore this Sunday...
I could definitely see the Ravens throwing the game to keep the Steelers out of the playoffs just because they hate them so much and for the simple fact that they wouldnt want to play them a 3rd time with a healthy Big Ben having to beat them 3 times in one season which is always hard to do assuming of course they win this Sunday in Baltimore. With that being said, I highly doubt that scenario you mentioned above with Houston losing all of those games plays out that way. You have to also take into account what the Patriots and Broncos do the last few weeks of the season. If they are tied with the Ravens for that 2nd seed going into the final week of the season and a bye week is on the line for the Ravens the Ravens arent going to be tanking no game for anybody. I have a feeling when this is all said and done the Bengals are going to definitely need to win that game against the Ravens in Cincy the final week of the season and get help from the Steelers losing to the Browns the last week as well to get that final playoff spot...

9-7. 9-7.

We MUST win versus Cincy, that's 7. Then just win two of these; @ Ravens, @ Cowboys, VS Browns, VS Chargers. Very doable.

Hey that's the type of fan I am, in 2009 when it looked like might miss the playoffs, I'd rather win just 4-5 games and get a 15 round pick.
