Is it wrong to expect impartial commentators on a nationally televised game?
Nah, it's pretty obvious that tctony thinks, 'excellent,' means, 'absolutely awful,'.

From the Waterboy:

Brent Musburger: Wow Dan, did you come up with that all by yourself?
Dan Fouts: Shut up, Brent.

This forum overreacts to everything.

Dan Fouts homerism showed today, but he is an excellent color guy.

He out and out was rooting for SD! Unprofessional.

I heard that too. My first thought was "Way to stay impartial, you hump!"

What a maroon.

No need to drop anchor then.

Besides his obvious bias, the thing that got on my nerves tonight was his voice!!! The closer the Chargers got to scoring the higher the pitch got in his voice...at one point he almost squealed...he sounded like a child opening up a present at Christmas! lol

Didnt we loose to them ?

I dunno I thought it was pretty bad and we got away with a big one there.

That said there was a bad one on their D later in the game that shoulda got called as well but didnt.

All in all there was some bad calls (Pollard leading with the helmet ) but well officiated over all.
We loss to the 1-15 Dolphins i believe. But those Lions went 0-16

He really wanted a late-hit-out-of-bounds penalty on pollard, but it was clean to any observer upon replay.

However, I believe a truly biased commentary is what's lacking in NFL video broadcasts. Let Dan Fouts root his Chargers as long as a die hard raven fan is his partner in the booth. As long as they can call a game as honestly as they can, let them display a basic human emotion like Hope.

Well on that play there he did want late hit on pollard but also wanted the Late hit called for Jacoby Jones out of bounds too on a play and another play where I believe it was doss pushed after the whistle, then he constantly stated that the refs have let them play well out of bounds today as if its Canadian Football.

I didn't have a problem with Dan Fouts at all, the commentator that irritates me the most for Ravens games is Chris Collinsworth because it doesn't matter who we play NE, Pitts, Bengals whoever it may be, Collinsworth is always screaming " Oh My, where is the penalty for that head shot on the Ravens all 11 players just killed that guy ", then on the next series Flacco gets Rocked Bottomed and he's like nice hit, but if the lineman hadn't held him that would have been a turnover..

Ever notice how on the Sunday NFL shows on CBS and Fox the so called hall of fame experts always seem to bet against the Ravens, and every week they end up with egg on their faces when the ravens win. The excuse this year was that the Ravens were not good on the road. Well the Ravens have now won back to back road games. Matter of fact, they are now 4-2 on road. We are the team the sports media loves to hate, that's cool. The team will just play with a chip on it's shoulder as motivation.
The real shame is that this doesn't convey the heavy sarcasm from Brent Musburger. Fast forward to 7:19 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=ycXwrBOlv8k&NR=1

You mean that "clear-as-day at least 10 yards out-of-bounds" hit? haha, i couldn't believe the things coming out of his mouth. he wasn't even trying to hide his distaste for the Ravens.

The guy had not taken one step out of bounds when hit. 10 yards? I understand overexaggeration for emphasis... but we all know there's usually tons of people right on the sideline, so 10 yards out? Is he delusional, or does he just think the fans are THAT stupid?

We get that you played for them but there comes a point where you need to keep your allegiance and favoritism out of your broadcast. To go to the extreme and say "I Hope so" in regards to hoping the penalty is on the Ravens during a live broadcast is very unprofessional and immature.
Yet if Ray Lewis said it as a broadcaster we would agree or if he said something about our defense not being stout as a commentator we would crucify him.

NBD....but for whatever reason, this board is obsessed with how we appear in the media compared to how we appear on the field.

Why does anyone really care? For all we know Fouts could be pissed that this Ravens team is on the verge of going to the playoffs for the 5th straight year when he only went 4 times in his entire career.
