He wouldn't leave Oregon for anything less than a head coaching job, but if he did, that would make my life.

He's not going to become an offensive coordinator for one thing. And that offense would never work in the NFL.

I want a Erhardt-Perkins style offense. Even though our TE's aren't the greatest blockers they could probably do. Run the ball, alot of short passes, and play action deep.

Isn't that what New England runs? If so, I don't know if it's the system that's the reason, but they get a ton of creative use out of their personnel, which I love.

A similar offense just beat us...

Also, he's creative and aggressive. Are you implying that he wouldn't be able to adapt to an NFL scheme?
I'm implying that he is over rated and is beaten when opposing teams (a) have a stout disciplined defense or B. Have extra time to prepare for the ducks. I don't think his spread option offense that relies on speed and getting around the corner would succeed against nfl caliber speed and talent on defense.... But I could be wrong

I think we got to see what our roster looks like in off season and go from there. Not just from being a west coast offense or not, but the little details such as zone blocking or power blocking, if we have more speed than possessive guys and how we want to feature our tight ends. Obviously we feature Rice but we have to see which direction we go in with line and passing game
Yup. But the thing I love most about it is the little short throws. Also running the ball a lot. It opens up deep PA passes down field for Joe.

I know Joe is no Tom Brady, but I think he could do good in that type of system. Atleast a lot better then the current one.

Two names that havent really been mentioned, but I find interesting are Marty Morhinweg (currently OC in Philly) and Marc Trestman (currently HC for the Montreal Allouettes). Both have solid resumes and would bring a different style of offense than what we are used to.

I also think Hue Jackson would be a solid choice and Norv Turner is a very good offensive mind. Although I would like to see Joe in a different style of offense I wouldnt be upset with either.

If Caldwell does a good job, I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed the OC next year. Though I'm really liking Ken Whisenhunt at the moment, and maybe Pat Shumar of the Browns. I believe Pat runs the west coast offense and I know many have brought up the idea of changing to a WCO.

Sam Bradford looked good under Shurmur, he's actually not a bad option for a philosophy shift if he gets fired. Whisenhunt is still my favorite option right now though.

I think it was Jamal who mentioned Trestman last year (when we all thought there was no way they'd rehire Cam). He has a pretty good resume with, funnily enough, this franchise's "technical" all time leader, Bernie Kosar (when we were the Browns), and also interestingly enough, the last big-time starting quarterback out of Delaware, Rich Gannon. I wouldn't mind Hue, but I want no part of Norv - he's a great offensive coach, but I'm tired of Air Coryell - if I have it right, the only time it EVER won a Superbowl is when the quarterback never threw for 4000 yards and they had the all time rushing yards leader and one of the greatest wide receivers to ever play the game (Aikman, Smith, and Irvin).
