Offensive Coordinator Options for 2013

253 posts in this topic

Most of us agree that the offense is being held back by Cam Cameron. Could the Ravens be sticking it out with Cam because there aren't many options in the OC department? Should they promote Caldwell? Who are the realistic options for OC that would be better for this team than Cam?

Caldwell is not an option IMO. He has never been a playcaller or OC at any level. Cam should remain OC for the rest of this season, but some names that may come up after the season is over would be Norv Turner, Greg Knapp, maybe even Andy Reid.

trust me Caldwell is not an OC. He is great with qb's but that is it. Assuming Reid gets fired I would expect him to take a year off. I would say Norv is the best option but the regression of Rivers the past few years really worries me.
No to Andy "pass pass pass" Ried but all those other options are fine.

i keep seeing that Caldwell should be promoted to OC well heres something to consider Do Flacco really need yet again a new quarterback coach to mentor him? Caldwell does not have any experience as a offensive coordinator at the nfl level . Overall dont think it would be a good idea for the ravens to promote Caldwell to O.C because it may have a negative effect on Joe and he has not had the privilege to grow under the same quarterback coach for more than two years.

I think Norv Turner, if available, would do better than Cam. (Cam = disappointment.)

Norv seems like the only available option, if he's even open after this season. Other than that -- I don't know who else.

Before Caldwell became HC of Indy, what did he coach? His resume
He was only ever a QB Coach before he became Head Coach (in the NFL at least.)

Honestly, at this point, you, me, Mr. Irrelevant, any number of other posters I've seen here. The guy who sells hot dogs. Anyone. Just get Cam out of here, please.

Petition to sign me as OC!

As the new OC of the Ravens, I will run the rare "Super No Huddle Offense"
This offense would utilize the screens more often and permanently eliminate end arounds
I would utilize Ray Rice more often, Balance is everything.
And When the D backs are prepared for a screen pass about the third quarter, I will call a deep bomb to Torrey and he will be Wide open bc he will blaze past them after biting off the double move.

#Irrelevant as OC 2013
Give me the madden controller

Norv Turner is an Air Coryell coach. A better Coryell coach than Cam, but still one that runs the same system, that has not been working out for us for so long.
Jason Garrett, if he becomes available, would be a better choice.

I would say Norv but he has the same philosophy as Cam and Rivers has really been struggling. I think we need to get the hell away from that philosophy as much possible.

My top option would be garrett. Obviously everyone who could put on a headset and call plays is better than cam. should we try any great college minds or will we stick with coaches with NFL experience?

I'm not against caldwell. He did go 14-2 with PEyton and did a really good job there for a long time.

Emphasis on the "with Peyton"

I don't have faith in Caldwell as an OC.

As for Norv, the only reason I would want him is to keep the Coryell consistency. While most want to get out of that system it's not a terrible system it's been poorly utilized here, though. We also have players that fit that system. Norv is familiar with the system and might be a good addition.

I would like someone other than Norv, though. Garret is a good idea and I thought about him too but I don't see him gone...yet. The Cowboys have won and so they aren't failing as bad as the Eagles.

I also don't see Reid coming here under the guy who was formerly under him. But that's just me.

I wouldn't mind having Norv or Jason Garrett, as long as they aren't so predictable and "vanilla" play calling. As for Andy Reid, it honestly wouldn't surprise me if he came in to Baltimore since Harbaugh and Reid were coaches in Philly together.

Well, rivers is a pompous moron who is also arogent and had the benefit of having LT, Vjax, a healthy gates, and a stout D when he was considered "good". Flacco isn't an idiot like Rivers is. With that said..... We don't have a legendary back like lt was, or a future hall of fame te like gates is, or an all pro WR in Vincent Jackson. We have an all pro rb, and two solid TEs to pair with a future all pro Torrey, (possibly) a future superstar in Tommy Streeter, and Q in the slot where he is better than Welker (On madden anyway lol). So my answer would be, yes bc we are not nearly as talented as the chargers were 4 yrs ago on O, but we are very talented. Norv seems to be a good executer of talent. Oh, and Ray Rice doesn't fumble as much as matthews. And our D is getting better. Still, I think that if we do hire Norv, then we have to draft a TE in the first round that fits his system. We need a defensive draft tho

Tyrod is a better fit than Flacco in Andy Reid's system.... He likes a mobile QB (Vick, Mcnabb, Kafka had ability). We also don't have weapons nearly as dynamic as Jackson, Maclin, or Celek...... Idk much bout Garret, I think that Romoception is a huge reason on the teams failure. Any other qb would love to have the Austin, Bryant, Ogeltree, Witten, Murray punch
