It would have been nice to get the help, but the #2 seed is still firmly in grasp...take care of the Chargers, and let the Texans worry about themselves.

And I'm thankful to not be a Jets fan.

Jim Schwartz probably should have known better, but this was still the STUPIDEST rule I've ever seen, causing a definite tilt the wrong way!! But the refs were the ones responsible for NOT blowing the whistle on this play, period!! I have no love for the Lions, but I was rooting for them yesterday and the win should have been theirs!!!

I can't believe that geniuses that run the NFL came up with this rule! What a shocker! Lol

But for that crazy rule, we'd be tied foe best record in AFC!

Nothing's easy for us but that was so-o-o blatant a bad call that you'd have figured they would have let Schwartz say "Oppsy-Daisy", pick up the challenge flag then go through the ascribed process!

Remember that Lions game when we "melted down" on penalties? Well, the Jets had one of those games where each bounce was against them!

Given that New York is as unforgiving a town as there ever was, it's clear that Rex is wearing out his welcome! The Teabow signing was idiotic at best, but two years of his team disintegrating from the inside is indication that he's one great Defensive Coordinator but a horrid Head Coach!

I wonder if he "can go back to the farm now that he done seen Par-ee"; in other words, can he saddle his ego enough to return to holding a clipboard in Baltimore instead of a headphone in, say, Jacksonville?

Just wonering!

My first response was immediately, he was down and then i heard vocal dope Jim "shouldn't i be broadcasting golf" Nantz, say the whistle wasn't blown. Then i said that will be overturned on replay until i learned of a rule that must be born out of spite. How DARE a coach challenge ME THE OFFICIAL before we go to automatic review. So because you DARED challenge my AUTHORITY(cartman), we won't review the play AT ALL! So nanny nanny foo foo to you! Then i thought that is the WORST call i've ever seen, until i remembered Green Bay vs. Seahawks and i thought that the league needs a BOOTH REF to oversee each game to STOP THE MADNESS! Either way the Ravens didn't get any help yesterday so i hope they DESTROY EVEYTHING(Hatebreed) the Chargers have left in coach Turner's last year as a head coach in the nfl.

What a silly rule!
No way DeCosta goes to Carolina, if he were to leave it would be for a better situation than the Carolina disaster.

That is one stupid rule, however the coach should have known that all touchdowns are reviewed by the booth anyway, so the challenge flag should not have been thrown. The tuck rule is still worse.

RE: Roethlisberger "he didn't appear to be in any pain." DUUH did anyone ask him if he was? And if he is ready to play and does, a few shots like Ngata's or Ihedigbo's or Kruger's against Leftwich should make him feel just fine. "Decimate what threatens me," Destroy everything(Hatebreed).

i watched the Pats Jets game. Arrington laid a hit on that knocked the WR out cold and there was no flag thrown, not even a sniff of it. it was a helmet to helmet hit. it was way worse than the ed reed hit, and yet because it's the patriots, nothing was flagged. comon NFL, you have to stop favoring certain teams!

Since the Lions are an NFC team, and we lost to an NFC team (Eagles), a non-conference loss for the Texans yesterday wouldn't have put us ahead of them, we would only be tied.

But that doesn't mean I wasn't a Lions fan yesterday.

Are you talking about the hit where the Arrington helmet hit the receiver's chin? I wouldn't have called that either, it's football. Instead of more flags, lets get less flags for the Ravens.

One should never "hope" to injure a guy making a living for his family so let's say I understand that you mean let's knock the squealers off and thereby their playoff hopes!

I think even though our's is the tougher schedule, we'll match them loss for loss if we drop one,... they'll find a way to drop one too!

Okay here is the problem:

We are able to protect Eric Decosta from other teams by paying him GM money and protect him with that contract. So other teams can not touch him I got that!

So why the world could we not do the same for Rex Ryan or Chuck Pagano? Pay our great DC Head Coaching money and protect him with a contract.

There is no doubt in my mind that that the Colts stealing Chuck Pagano hurt this defense!

Pagano might have wanted to actually be a head coach. It's kind of an open secret that DeCosta is the future GM, but what would Pagano, or Ryan for that matter, have been promised? Nothing, as long as Harbs is here.

That's what you get when you fire the replacement refs, more replacement refs! As for Rothlisberger, he will NOT play against the Ravens because he values his life. There is no medical way to ever know if his rib will hold up to another vicious hit which could puncture his artery and have him bleed to death in five minutes on the field. Pitty the poor player who hits him and then watches in horror his on field death. Are you kidding me? Going back on the field with only three weeks of healing. CMON Man!

Yep. That rule should be changed immediately. Ben shouldn't play. But, he probably will. If DeCosta had went to the Colts, I might've begun serious flashbacks of our team leaving us to that part of the country. Glad you stayed, Eric. I don't believe the blackout will matter one way or the other because we're always on a mission down the stretch of the season. Our B'more Sun picking us to lose? I don't dare say our secondary is depleted anymore. With the new additions and all, our "D" is back. Go Ravens!!! :)

that rule didn't hurt the Ravens. smh! it was the lions inability to put the texans away with the many opportunities that they had to do so. and besides....the Ravens CAN'T rely on other teams "helping" them out along the way. they have to take care of their own business. WIN!!

To GoldRaven, would you REALLY want Rex Ryan still around, because all of NY wants him out of here?! Including myself and i'm rooting for the Ravens! We just can't stand listening to him. He should just put feet in his mouth, real feet not literal ones, i heard he enjoys that, and shut up!

Also, having a great GM who knows the process of drafting and spotting Raven type players through FA is much more important then a coordinator. Replacing a DC is easier then finding a great GM.

DeCosta is like Ozzie Jr and some can agrue thats slightly better then Ozzie, because he handles the draft after round 2. So losing Ozzie probably/hopefully won't change much if anything as far as bringing in talent. Eric is basically a GM for the Ravens. Lose him and you could possibly lose a good part of your identity, because both Ozzie and Eric are gone.

Losing Rex and Chuck seem bad now, but this young defense can still improve under Pees or maybe even taken to the next level by some young aggressive position coach looking to make a splash as a DC. Not sure you wanna take chances with your GM

I understand the point your making, but it's calling for more flags than less. Like a fan from another team asking for Pollard to get more flags for his hits. I say let them play football with few flags as possible. It's football, a brutal sport.

Who in the league office makes these rules? Fire them, along with Goodell before the integrity of the game is completely compromised (too late!).

And Ben isn't going to play, as dumb as he is, he isn't dumb enough to play the Ravens injured. Oh well, let the Steelers' fan come at us with their "Ben-less" comments. A win is a win is a win is a win.

Guarantee that rule gets changed in the off season. ALL scoring plays should be reviewed, no matter what elase happens. In this case, the TD would be ruled out, the ball returned to the spot of the player being downed, THEN add the 15 yard penalty for illegally throwing the red flag. Not getting the call right because there was also a penalty flag thrown is rediculous.

I would love to have Rex back. At the end of the day, all Rex is guility of is showing a tremendous amount of confidence in a poor team. Rex got all he could out of that team. In the first 2 years they weren't much better then they are now, they just don't have those fluky, bounces going their way.

If i'm a JETS fan, i want the GM and other decision makers gone. Those are the guys who are not bringing good enough talent to the team. Much like his Dad and a Dick Lebeau, Rex seems like a guy who is meant to be a DC.

All his acts and chest pounding is better served as a DC, because its in house(no media ) and it only plays to one side of the ball, Defense. Not sure how much say Rex had in player selection, but Ozzie and company would definitely give him better players then the Jets.

I think Pollard would be more like a Polamualu under Rex. Rex would demand that Jimmy and Cary play press man, he'd probably use Webby like Revis, he'd probably use McClain more in a pass rush role then a true ILB to maximize his talents. Ellerbe would probably be used like AD, because he's such a athlete. Then of course, Suggs, Kruger, Upshaw, Ngata and McPhee would be turned loose to create havoc.

I think Rex would definitely get the most out of this defense

The rule is faulty and so is Jim Schwartz. Can't get mad at the lions though, we should've beat the Texans when we had the chance but we had Cam Cameron who couldn't prepare for JJ Swatt and the swat team. However, this game did reaffirm to me that the Texans are mortal and I'm really interested to see how they fare against the Pats.

Sometimes I reads comments and have to wonder does these folks really understand pro football?

Oh, Houston got lucky b/c the Lions squandered their chances and lost? Well, the Lions played the 9-1 Texans hard all day long and lost because Texas kicked an OT field goal! Texas got a 7 point "gift" b/c Schwartz made a mistake! No kismet, no karma,... and NFL loss!

So, we're going to just stroll into the San Diego stadium and just beat up on the Bolts, no problem? I don't think so! Didn't last year! If we win it's because we outscored them, not because we're "anointed" or something!

It would be great to beat the squealers with Ben? Who cares? It's still 53 men and it's still the squealers breathing down our backs! It would be great to go up 3 games on them - period!

Save the rah-rah for your Playstation!

First, let me say that I'm sorry for the guys on the team. But their coach is a hot-head!
Remember when he made a big thing over Coach Harbaugh's brother's hand shack last year.
He ran Harbaugh down like he was going to knock him out. Remember?

That dude is looney...

And this game coming up is actually one that should be in Flacco's hands. The Chargers have the third ranked rush D and with our O-line not getting into much of a rhythm these last few games i wouldn't put my money into the run. But knowing Cam Cameron, we will probably do something that won't work.

See, WeCanDo understands football!

While we still need the run my biggest concern is Nolan uses last year's scheme of the TE chipping T-Sizzle to give their LT time to back up and get set while Rivers surgically dismembers us with 5 and 10 yard, quick-release passes!

Cam, meanwhile, dials up 20-plus yard passes on 2nd and 6, 3rd and 2!

Yeah, the San Diego game has had me wondering since the schedule first came out. If we play anything like we did last year when we went there, we will be having another long plane ride home. Hope we find a way to pull out a "W".

I got a feeling Flacco is about to whip some butt. I don't know why but I feel that way. He rarely has back to back bad games, the crowd noise will not be a problem and I know we will be able to run the rock. Plus the "smart people doing the picking seem to think we will come out flat. I love it when the haters are out. Then I know the only ones cheering are the true bleed purple Raven nation!

Thank you Raensfan23!

My main point is that Rex is NOT head coach material he is too overwhelmed and he has no offensive knowledge!

Rex Ryan ruined his career when he decided to become a head coach and the odds where against him!

Dick Labeau is a prime example. He is a career DC he had the presence of mind to never become a head coach because he knew that he didn't want tthe responsibility.

I don't mean to praise the steelers organization but they have good loyalty they rarely change coachs and they are stable. We could learn a thing or two from them.

I would have liked to have Rex Ryan back as our Defensive Coordinator for the next 15 years or however long he can coach.

We need a Dick Labeau type person.

There is a saying: " Stick to what you are good at." And this is the case with Rex and Dick!

Chuck Pagano will end up finding out what a huge mistake he made for leaving the Ravens. The odds are against him as head coach and the Colts are just a classless organization that makes knee jerk moves!

All the Defensive Coordinators that have failed when they left the Ravens are listed:

Mike Nolan
Mike Singletary
Jack Del Rio
Rex Ryan
