Joe Flacco The Next Tom Brady?
OMG I hope not. I don't want Flacco to be a cheater. And Flacco doesn't seem to need the best reciever in the NFL (arguably the best ever), he doesn't do most of his damage with completing 2 yard passes to a guy too small to tackle either. flacco doesn't really have an above average reciever to begin with. No disrespect to Mason tho.

The best complement is to be compared to peyton mannng imo. Who can tear up even the best Ds in the nfl on occasion (including ours). And one comparison i can make is the way flacco throws his short to medium passes, just the way he throws the ball is somewhat similar. he was being compared to big ben b4 the season, but imo hes not a break tackler like big ben. i think flacco will become his own QB uncomparable to any other by the time he is done, being the tallest QB in the NFL and having the biggest arm while at the same time being accurate is nice combination
dont you ever call randy moss the best reciever ever! he's not even close! he broke jerry rice's record because rice did it in a strike shortened season!

Joe Flacco has the ability to be an elite QB in the NFL. Its too early to tell yet, but he is off to a great start. So far I am very pleased.

You mean Randy "I play when I want to" Moss.

We don't need a diva WR.

Mason is a great receiver. Have you seen some of the catches he pulls in on the sidelines? He's not a big deep threat though, but he gets the job done. We need a Deep threat to compliment him.
I heard them say it, too. It just scares me when they say stuff like that. I worry that it puts too much pressure on a player. Plus, there is that whole "jinx" thing to worry about. :D
I agree he doesn't need that kind of presure in comparisons, numbers are numbers, they don't seem so alike as QBs. We have some tough defensive teams to play in the next few weeks, but I feel confident that he'll still be able to hold it togehter. We shall see the first half of the season was just the warm up...

Honestly I could careless about Tom (The Cheater's Pet!) Brady! Nor do I want Flacco to be like or think he is the next Tom Brady. I just want Flacco to be Flacco and progress in a positive manner from week to week. This year so far he has gone past my expectations, so I'm going to sit back and watch our new and excitting new QB play and get better. You wait until he get the timming on those deep throws down field!!!! :D :D
I'm not sure what announcers you're talking about, but if it was the gameday guys from yesterday, they were referring to a statement Harbaugh made concerning Flacco on the final few drives against Cleveland.
Yeah, I was listening to the same game you were when they mentioned Harbaugh saying that....but, if it means anything, the announcers agreed, if you recall :o

Mason surprised me this year...I haven't seen him play like this since his Tennessee days. I hope Clayton's taking notes...

I honestly think that sometimes Clayton doesn't work as hard as he should. He can be a faster version of Derrick Mason, which would be awesome, but i don't see the Derrick Mason-like effort...i dunno if it's just me, but that's how i see it.

Mark Clayton IS Derrick Mason. When you put both of them on the field, it's inevitable that Mason gets the ball and Clayton doesn't. If we had a deep thread and/or a guy who ran slants, Clayton would come into his own.

I have to agree with you. I remember in the '06 season (yes, another one of my clayton rants :D ...) when Clayton looked like he was gonna be the next big-time receiver for us...but then Mason got attention after he had his complaints (yes, he complained very mildly about wanting the ball). I think if clayton get the ball more often, he would come into his own.

To be fair, last season, Clayton was going through some personal issues on top of his injuries. He had been struggling with his marriage, and had to deal with a divorce from the mother of his child. Some people react differently in those types of situations, but last season had to take a toll on him psychologically.

Think about it: not only do you feel helpless for being on the sideline for something you couldn't control, but you also feel helpless from seeing your marriage crumble and the possibility of not seeing your child on a regular basis (even though, as a football player, it's already hard enough as it is to be with your family).

So now that Clayton has put that behind him, I'll still give him one more shot. Let him show us what he's got the rest of this season and all of next season before the team passes judgment on him and his future as a Raven.

Thanks for mentioning that...i didn't wanna bring that in, but it's very true. He's getting better because he's coping with the situation and getting over it as time passes. so, i expect to see clayton contributing like he has the past few games, for the rest of the season.

There just isn't a reason to give him the ball, though. Although different coordinators have tried to switch up the routes in an attempt to get Clayton open, Mason is just incontrovertibly superior. We saw last week that when Mason went down, Clayton has the ability to do everything that Mason does, but he is basically blocked with Derrick on the field. Clayton is a nice option when Mason retires and/or inevitably declines, but as of right now, he is wasting away on this team. I can't say that he'd be as disappointing if we had a veteran quarterback who was more precise in targeting the first guy who got open, but with Flacco at the helm, it's hard for Mark to get the ball.
