Didn't he throw the flag BEFORE the "touchdown" happened? If so, he was challenging the call (or I guess non-call) that he was down, not some touchdown that might happen.

once the lions threw the challenge flag, the refs aren't allowed to review it, it's the lions on fault regarding the review. But the refs should have got it right the first time
Which is stupid because the NFL said at the beginning of the year that ALL scoring plays would be reviewable automatically no matter what. They never said that throwing a challenge flag would negate it. Making up rules as they go.

Last week, the Texans benefited from a non-call on a fumble clearly recovered by Jacksonville and now they benefit from a non-call on the runner obviously being down.

Give Me back the Replacement Officials!

That is the dumbest rule I have ever heard. So not only do they get the penalty for challenging a play that was all ready going to be reviewed, they then just refuse to review it? What could the explanation possibly be on that?

You can say it's a dumb rule all you want, but it's still on Schwartz to know what the rules are. He automatically admitted it was his fault. And I agree with the refs letting the play go. If they blow the whistle and he wasn't down the Texans would've been screwed out of a TD and replay wouldn't be able to correct it.

I really hope we play the Texans in the playoffs.
I hope the Lions knock the Texans around for that. Hell I would "accidently" run into Walt Coleman for that horrible call if I was a Lions player.

He was down, video proved it, Texans wouldn't have been screwed out of anything.

It's to prevent taunting if you know the automatic replay overrule the call is obvious. I'm not surprised Jim "'super-calm handshaker'" Schwartz gets hit with this. Simply HCs need to know things that they can never do.

Do you guys think this could turn into a Bottlegate situation by the end of the game? Fans have GOT to be livid at this point...

The penalty is a 15 yarder. No rule should give an automatic TD gift. It is bogus.

I sincerely hope this officiating crew has bodyguards to escort them out of this stadium today. Not even kidding. This crowd is fired up.

Keep rolling Lions!!! Way to keep on fighting!
