The G-men Overlooking The Ravens?

34 posts in this topic

I listened to Elli talking after the game...He says they have tough games left, and mentions all of the other teams before Baltimore...The very next GAME! I don't mind being overlooked! I think we STOP THE RUN IT'S DONE. They have a THREE Headed Monster that is probably Slightly better then ours.. Kind of scary.

I think its funny that everyone in the NFL community totes on the Giants run game the "Earth, Wind, and Fire" whereas the Ravens run game is if not as good, than better. Our "Earth" in LeRon McClain, our "Fire" Willis McGahee, our "Wind" in Ray Rice.

NO KIDDING THEY OVERLOOKING US! Everyone overlooks the Ravens. They see the same crappy team that relies on the D to put up points and cant score with their offense. TIMES HAVE CHANGED

GENTLEMEN!!!! 39 POINTS only on offense, sure it was the Texans defense but you cant say we did nothing! I am a lot more excited about the game against the G-Men then I was 3-4 weeks ago.

The three headed monster will eat up Earth Wind and Fire

You're taking it out of context.

He specifically mentioned having to play Dallas and Washington, then Baltimore, because he just finished playing a divisional game. So of course the remaining divisional games would come to mind first.

I don't look at it as Eli Manning overlooking the Ravens, nor do I see his comments as disrespectful.

At least he mentioned Baltimore, period. He could've ignored that one and threw out another team's name instead, since he had four other games to choose from that he didn't mention remaining in the season.

Grasping at straws for bulletin board material...don't worry about motivation for this next game. The Giants being the defending Super Bowl champions is more than enough motivation in itself.

Honestly, this whole respect BS is getting to be old. Sounding like a Rodney Dangerfield joke. But, like Rodney (R.I.P.), the respect angle should've been buried by now. People want to be able to brag about our team, but who really cares? WHO CARES? Bragging means nothing if there's no Super Bowl at the end of the season to back it up.

Wait until the Ravens secure a trip back from Tampa with a Lombardi Trophy before the celebration starts.

Insensitive? Maybe. True? Think about it...

Yes, Eli not mentioning us immediately means that he is essentially taking a vacation next week.

Our running attack is composed of two really young guys whereas the Giants have Super Bowl champions who play in New York.

I'm pretty sure that the defending Super Bowl champions, who are 8-1 in the toughest division in football, do not overlook anyone. They are who they are for a reason.

It's pretty tedious reading this same old crap about getting coverage and respect. It seems to me like you guys are more concerned with how the ESPN crew views us as opposed to how we actually perform on the field. The bottom line is that we have a rookie quarterback, a rookie head coach and have a relatively small fanbase, all indicators as to why we don't get any press. Additionally, we have not followed through in the big games and are coming off an abysmal season. You have to actually do something to get widespread respect.

This from the Giants forums:

" Giants win a no story headliner for NFL.com and ESPN at 12:15a.m....Seems weird that they just played what was considered the biggest game of the week and these two football news giants don't feel this game rates...well since the Giants won anyway

I know, sounds like another disrespect thread and it is but if the eagles won this would be splashed all over everything"

They think that they don't get enough coverage.

There it is, folks. And let's face it, the more we talk about wanting respect from the media, the more we sound like we have an inferiority complex.

We SAY we know how much potential this Ravens squad has. We SAY this team is more talented than it appears. But, as my favorite high school teacher learned from his football coach at Notre Dame, "Potential is just a fancy word for somethin' ya ain't done yet."

This team has yet to beat a surefire, playoff-bound team this season. This team hasn't even beaten one of last year's playoff teams yet.

As much as we wanted this team to get tougher, WE ALL, as fans, must do the same as well.

Mad that we're not on ESPN? MAN UP. Mad that we don't get more than 15 seconds on highlight reels? MAN UP. Mad that we're not ranked in the top 10 of every major sports publication? MAN UP.

Besides, think of how greedy it is to complain when this team has a 6-3 record and is in the hunt for the playoffs. Think of how Detroit fans are feeling right now. Think of Cincinnati's fans. Think of the people in St. Louis. Think of Oakland's fanbase. Relevant especially today, think of Texans fans. They would KILL to be in our position right now.

Remember what it was like, to feel that same way last year? Karma comes quickly, and it can go both ways -- remember that.

if you look at the weekly stats on nfl.com and set it to passer rate we have 2 in the top 5. if u look at rb and set it to td or yards we have willis in the top 5. if you look at recieving and set it to td heap is in the top 5. we have scored 39-0 in the fourth in the last two games while dominating the clock. and our d is still the one we know. i like our chances. screw the press!!! and remember 2000!!!

I highly doubt they are overlooking us. This Giants team seemed to "overlook" Cleveland and you saw what happened there.

Posting 41 points and 4 defensive turnovers is going to make the Giants think twice about the Ravens.

OVERLOOK US. good! Im sure thats what they did with the browns also, haha. NO DOUBT in my mind we cant beat the Giants.. I'll say this over and over agian.. if the browns can do it.. so the hell can we!!!!!! & its not like the browns just "got" lucky and won, the score was what 14-28 or something? The browns pretty much took control of the entire game.

My brother says this ALL the time, "we have everything needed to be a great dominant team.. but sometimes you wonder if the desire from the players is there.. until we beat a team worth beating we are just the best of the mediocore football teams." & I agree with that, but then agian this year is VERY different.. we almost beat the steelers on monday night football. I know almost doesnt count but it was MUCH better than the game lost last year on MNF.. <_<

They might be overlooking us a little but thier coach is smart. He will only let that get so far. Its going to be a tough game for us but I like our chances.

Maybe I'm getting used to the sports guys not being effusive over the Ravens because I thought the pregame show for the night game was pretty complimentary towards us.

Like others have said, the Giants are not overlooking us, though I wish they would...

Thank you Franchise! So many great points that I counted. I doubt the Giants will be overlooking the Ravens. They have a tough division to work in, so ofcourse when they are talking about tough games yet to come, they are focusing on their divison. And even if they did overlook us, isn't that a great thing! Why complain about it. The Redskins overlooked the Rams - they lost at home. The jaguars overlooked the Bengals. They lost as well. So really, if the Giants want to overlook us, then great! Let's not worry that Eli didn't talk about us, after his tough game.

Like Franchise stated, Im tired of this whole media showing us no respect. We barely got any in our Super Bowl year so leave it alone. We have a very tough portion of our schedule coming up here. Im sure if we beat all of our NFC East counterparts, we will get some attention. As for the Giants. They were manhandled by the Cleveland Browns! and that goes to show that anybody can beat them, They aren't invincible like the media portrays them to be. We need to concentrate on stopping the freight train Brandon Jacobs, keep the rush under 100yds and force Eli to make bad decisions with a strong pass rush. We are going to have to have a good day offensively as well. Its time for our Ravens to show they can hang! I know we can win this game!

I like the fact that their runningbacks fight for more yards because a. They won't get them against our D-line and b. Do exactly like the Eagles did, STRIP THE FOOTBALL.

I am kinda scared of the Giants O-line though, it may be a stalemate in the trenches.

I agreee. The more Brandon Jacobs fights for yards. The more hits he'll have to take from the Baltimore Ravens. Those over a period of time will take their toll.

I was in no way complaning! I was basically reflecting on how our team is different then the Giants... You would NEVER(since Harbs tenure as coach) hear Flacco or any other team mate talk about other games down the road rather then the NEXT game. Really, it's a tribute to our mentality and the TEAM buying in to Harbs philosophy. I don't see Elli as a Cocky, arrogant or over-confident QB. I was just mentioning how it seems we're under the Media Eyes and it's a GREAT thing for this TEAM!

Well seems how the Giants are pretty much ahead in their division I would think that as of right now only their divisional games matter. He is in no way disrespecting the Ravens by putting us behind their division games.

The Giants definitely aren't overlooking us!! You don't get to 8-1 by overlooking people!

Plus, the Giants don't match up well with the AFC-North style of football! Their 3 toughest games to date were all against the AFC-North!! Cincy took them to OT in Giants Stadium, Cleveland beat them, and if Pittsburgh would have had a Long Snapper, they would have beaten them, too! And now they have to play the Best Team in the Division!

Believe me, they aren't overlooking the Ravens, maybe the rest of the country doesn't have any respect for us, but I guarantee you, the Giants Do!

Great point! I didn't even think how they faired overall against the AFC North. Browns beat them. Steelers and Bengals almost beat them. The Browns & Steelers games were away from home. But if the Bengals can go into New York and almost pull off an upset. I don't see why we can't?

We have to give them a physical "AFC North" battle. To us it will be normal.

I have heard that on a NY talkradio show the host was talking to Antonio Pierce, and said something about the Ravens being a trap game!? To which Pierce replied that is the stupidest thing he has ever heard, the Baltimore Ravens as a trap game? Now I did not hear this so the context could have been different but to me this says that there is no way they are looking at the Ravens as push overs by any means. Personally I am glad that the Ravens get this opportunity to try to best the G men, this will be a good way to gauge if the Ravens have learned from the mistakes from earlier in the year with Pitt and Tenn. Should the Ravens prevail I guarantee you will see a monumental jump in the pez dispensers rankings the following week!

You really cannot use this to gauge the outcome though, this game will come down to who can pass better. I think rushing yards will be at a premium in this game, I do so hope that Joe is ready for this game I know he has done good but this pass rush is very similar to what he faced with Pitt and Tenn. I feel this is a very winnable game however, and if the Ravens D gets to Eli it could very well be a nasty game for the G men. The same could be said in reverse however, DAMN this should be a primetime game!!!
