Here goes round 2 of my mock drafts for the year

1) Louis Nix | NT | ND
- As stated before Nix may be the biggest reason for the resurgence of the ND defense. He just simply ruins plays and clogs holes; he really is a massive man. I am really hoping he declares for the draft and his stock just seems to be climbing with each week. Lastly, his personality seems to be contagious, watching some of his videos you just have to laugh and I think we need to get some swagger players back on our defense.

2) Shawn Williams | S | Georgia
- He is one of my favorite safety prospects this year. He is vastly underrated but does and has everything you look for – good size and speed and is a smart player. While much of the attention goes to Rambo I think Williams is the better all around player. He may not have a ton of takeaways like Rambo but he is extremely smart and rarely makes mistakes and can make sure the defense is in position. Its not like he has bad ball skills or playmaking ability – I just don’t think that is what he is asked to do, whereas Rambo gets more roaming space. He reminds me a lot of Ryan Clark in that they are both smart, team first guys, that play their position well and rarely get out of position or beat. We need that with the types of corners we have who can and will jump routes.

3) Desmond Trufant | CB | Washington
- Trufant has played really well this year and it may have vaulted his tock higher than this but I am hoping the abundance of CBs pushes him down. He may be a little on the thin side but he plays extremely tough and is not afraid of being physical. He looks like a natural cover corner and I think he could play inside or out. He has a ton of experience against the pass happy PAC 12 so he should be able to adjust and play in space against the multiple receiver sets that are beginning to dominate.

4) Jonathon Bostic | ILB | Florida
- I will not lie of all the LBs (except Teo) I want Bostic. He never played up to his potential in his first three years and I think this has a lot of people down on him and questioning his consistency and if he can make the leap to the NFL. I still question it, but if he keeps up with his play and progress of this year I think he could be a major steal. He is built thickly, plays aggressive and is extremely athletic. He is gonna need some good coaching and mentoring and I think we can do that. He reminds me a lot physically of Bobby Wagner (w/o the amazing production).

5) Marcus Davis | WR | VT
- I expected a massive season from him this year. So far he has been solid, but nothing special. This is largely due to the play of Logan Thomas at QB, I think he has dropped down boards because of this. However there are not many receivers who are around 6’5, 230 who can run in or near 4.5. So the combine may bring him back up into the third round discussion but WRs seem to have very fluid and fragile draft stocks in the last couple of years and I could see him slipping and much of it will ride on his combine performance and possibly Senior bowl.

6) Reid Fragel | OT | Ohio St.
- Fragel used to play TE but bulked up to play RT, in his first year playing he looks like he could be an absolute mauler. When you watch Ohio St. he really stands out, mainly because he plays with an absolute nasty streak and is 6’8, 300+. He will need a lot of coaching and patience but I think he could one day be a starter. His aggressive style of play may make him better inside but he has the athletic ability to be a RT, he just needs to work on his footwork and technique. One of my favorite sleepers in the draft that I think a team will fall in love with, he will probably get a lot of buzz in the draft buildup.

7) Trade bait - will leave this one blank, use your imagination maybe Tyrann Mathieu or used to secure one of the mid rounders.

We definitely need a DT/NT. However, I think that once McPhee gets healthy, we should be fine everywhere else on the D-Line.

I wouldnt say multiple times, but Id pool multiple chances together to trade up and get an impact player. We need a sure thing player. Id rather get someone who has a high probability of being an impact player than trying to hit the lotto multiple times.

i don't think he has it in him, let him be that pass rush specialist, he excelled at it, same as Kruger.

I do agree we need some help here but we have already have Ngata, McPhee, Art Jones and Tyson and Hall who are starting to look solid. I think it may be better to go FA and get a vet for this spot and allow the young talent to develop, maybe bring back Justin Bannan or a guy like Kevin Vickerson, corey williams, shaun cody, glenn dorsey, tyson jackson, alan branch or roy miller. Im sure there are more but it may be best to get some veteran leadership along the DL as we did with Trevor Pryce than later on with Corey Redding.

According to Pro Football Focus, McPhee is actually +2.9 against the run this year. He's a whole lot better than Arthur Jones against the run. I think he could develop into a serviceable 3 down 3-4 DE once he gets healthy.

You don't need stats to see if a player is doing a good job or not. People knew Adrian Peterson was a good back before they checked the stat sheet haha. We can all tell McPhee isn't getting a good jump off the snap and isn't holding his own or shedding blocks.

Nice mock. Could Bostic become better than Ellerbe and McClain?

Thats not what Im saying. Im saying that rather than buy 3 1 dollar lottery tickets we spend the same amount of cash and buy a $3 ticket. Let me clarify.

Yes you can get an impact player at the bottom of round 1 but let's say we do what you say and hit the d line in rounds 1,3, 5 right? You may get an impact player but all these players are much lower in a probablistic sense of impacting than the guy taken at the top of round 1.after all thats why he is at the top of round 1.

If you are gonna use multiple picks to fix a spot, you may as well use them to trade up for a better shot rather than try to strike lightning.ie quality of quantity

What your doing diversifies the risk but if we see a player who our front office is sure will pan out I see no reason not to do this.

I would suggest he could be. While that is a big if, he has the potential to be much better - he was a top recruit coming out of high school. The way he has been playing this year suggests he is finally living up to his potential. He is extremely athletic so he would probably be battling with Ellerbe for his spot. I am not sure he is quite as good as Ellerbe in the pass game just yet but he is very good run defender and is a great sideline to sideline LB. He has received some great coaching from Muschamp and I think he has some scheme versatility and could line up in multiple fronts at multiple spots. While he does not have Ogletree type potential he is very close and is an everydown LB

I agree with the first part. However, the same applies to pure statistics, which also aren't the be all and end all. The grades still deserve merit. I haven't seen anything outrageous over the time I've had my subscription.

Having Lucas Nix coming to us automatically gets my vote. I am gushing over him.

My top three picks for the first round are Teo, Nix, Mosley. I think Mosley can be a Hell of a Mike. He played inside last year and I like him in the middle.

After that it gets hard. I love McCullers & Geathers as 2nd day or early 3rd day options, especially McCullers. Both would obviously be our NT. After Teo, Mosley my next ILB is Ogletree then Andrew Jackson from WKU. I think Jackson could be had on the 3rd day.

I'd love Louis Nix but I don't think that he'll be going out for this year's draft. Probably next year...

If Ogletree and Teo are gone....will Mosley be a better pick than Nix? Could this mean we spend a third on McCullers. Lester in the second ^.^.

I like the Nix pick in the first round, but that's where it stops lol. Shawn Williams is a good safety but I feel you could even get him in the third depending on how he plays this season. For some reason Shawn Williams is underrated by scouts and the media ( I like his heart and overall game). I really hope we trade up and get Matt Elam from UF. He is a pure beast at safety. I feel as tho we need another pass rusher who is a specialist. Who just knows how to get after the passer like a Quanterus Smith from Western Kentucky. On the offense side of the ball we need a slot guy who gets open for Joe quickly. Tavon Austin is my dream pick, but I understand the chances are slim because how bad our D has been this year.

First off, solid draft. The first four picks addresses a lot of our needs.

It would be ideal if louis nix declares and we get him in the first.

Shawn williams is a great safety and is going to be a good one in the NFL. My only concern is that he is a SS, and since pollard is most likely going to be a raven for an extended period of time, we need more of a free, someone who can roam around, read the qb and bail out our cbs like ed reed has been doing for years.

Trufant would be a steal in the third round.

Bostic is a solid linebacker. I've watched a bunch of UF games this season and he's even though his stats aren't great he really jumps out of the screen at times and makes his share of plays. He isn't horrible in coverage so I think he could be a three down lb. I think he can be better than ellerbe and mcclain.

If marcus davis can run in the 4.5s, he would be someone we should take a look at.
